Warcraft

"WoW is all I have to say. The creators at Blizzard have done it again. I have been a fan of Blizzard way back when, when they first created the RPG Warcraft: Humans Vs. Orcs. The story since then has evolved and so has game play and technology. Where once you played a story and controlled multiple units and fought via strategy, now you get to LIVE that story. Create a character from many different classes and live and experience everything in the amazing 3D world. Some of the best looking graphics I have seen in a game. The amount of detail and time put into this game is worth every penny. You can quest by yourself or with others. Take on legendary races and beings with friends. You can even fight other real players one on one or battle against many."

What's great about it: large world
What's not so great: $15 a month, repetitive
"If you didn't have to pay $15 a month for this, it might be worth your time. The gameplay gets rediculously repetitive and I found myself getting bored VERY quickly. The "updates" and "new content" that you pay monthly for definitely aren't worth it. As for the graphics, it is my opinion that Blizzard made them very cartoon-like when they released War3 and those cartoonish graphics are used here as well. The only good things about this game are that it has such a large world to explore and that it has such a large online community. If you are a fan of the Warcraft series, try the 10 day free trial first."

Great Game...worth every penny.

What's great about it: Never ending adventures and stuff to be acquired
What's not so great: nothing really
"Great game...For the first time MMORPG or longtime vet....I see and hear tons of people whining about monthly cost But you know what....its dirt cheap to finally have a game where 99% of all hacking/duping/pure BS is kept in check. Bravo Blizzard. I have been playing this game since 2006 and was a longtime disappointed rpg/mmorpg fan. I am very content and happy with this game to date. Blizzard is continuously creating new content for the highend questers and overachievers. Once again...to all the whiners about cost...keep spending ur $20-$50 a month on the next FPS or lame single player rpg or the newest Playstaion3/Xbox game...WoW will keep u coming back for more."

What's great about it: Graphics, Fun
What's not so great: Life consuming, mind eating
"I tried to play this game but I couldn't take my self there. The fear of NEEEDING to speanding 180$ a year +the price of the game was just scary. I have friends who won't do anything but play this game it is honestly disturbing. One of them won't even talk to me anymore because I said I don't wanna play it. It's rediculous!!"

What's great about it: Nothing.
What's not so great: Everything.
"I have friends who own this game, I paid for a month of it and here's why I can't stand it...
1.) Its harmfully addicting, thank God I didn't let myself fall in the hands of Blizzard.
2.) Nobody wants to do anything else. Seriously, I know a person who does nothing but play this game.
3.) Confusing and frustrating. I did a few quests, but they were boring! And leveling takes forever. And getting use to the map is too hard.
Play a game that actually requires skill."

What's great about it: Amazing look and game play
What's not so great: can affect your social life
"This is a great game to play. The visial environment is fantastic as well as the audio. It is a game you can spend alot of time playing. The virtual environment seems to go on forever. It is a joy to play. The down side is you can play it forever and it is as addicting if not more than Evercrack."

Standard MMO
05/24/2009
By ConfusedYeti
|
What's great about it: Most popular MMO
What's not so great: Standard MMO. Harmfully addictive and life consuming.
"WoW isn't nearly as good as some MMO games available. In my opinion, the only reason WoW was so successful is because of Blizzard's history in the PC game world.
This game is infamous for consuming people's lives. At first, you may play it a few hours a day. But then it grows on you. I decided to quit after my grades in college began to crumble. After I quit I realized just how bad it was. I actually lost friends because they were to busy playing it to answer their phone or leave their computer.
This game is fun in moderation, but I warn you most people who play it take it way too seriously and play 8-16 hours a day."

What's great about it: The Many Characters to choose from...
What's not so great: Leveling Up
"World of Warcraft is a game of many challenges. I've never experienced nothing quite like it. Its one game that can affect you in an addictive manner or will make you want to put it down. Many others have enjoyed the adventures it had to offer. Well, me personal, I didn't enjoy it. Just wasn't my pace. It was nice at first because it was my first game online. So my suggestion is try it out because it my turn out to be something just for you."

What's great about it: lots of questing
What's not so great: the travel time is horrendous
"Im writig this having already played through all three patches of W.o.W. SO please take that into mid when reading. Though i loved this first portion of WoW, I think the second and third portion of the game are exponentially times better; none-the-less this was where i started and how i got hooked.
It's a very addicting, very fun, never ending game. Beware! lol"

Great as a Casual Distraction
11/12/2008
By Ambience327

What's great about it: Lots to do, fun for solo play, even more fun in a group or Guild.
What's not so great: Monthly subscription fee (worth it though, in my opinion)
"I was one of those skeptics for a long time - you know, the guy who thought he would never play any MMORPG. I thought they were just a massive time-sink and couldn't possibly be fun for a casual gamer beyond the first few hours. I thought only obsessive-types with no life, no friends and nothing better to do could enjoy a game like this. I thought wrong. World of Warcraft was designed to be accessible to everybody. The basic concepts of moving, combat and character progression are easily understood, and anybody can reach the maximum level (80 once Wrath of the Lich King comes out) by simply playing long enough. "1337 SKILLZ" are not needed to progress in this game, unless you want to get through the most advanced content, or compete in Player vs Player combat at the most competetive level. For someone like me - married w/ 2 young children, working a full time job and trying to finish school - this game is a fantastic distraction. Playing just a few hours each week, I have curently advanced my primary character up to Level 60 (the original Level Cap), while experiencing a lot of fun content, joining a helpful and friendly Guild, making lasting in-game friendships (which gives you people to play with regularly) and enjoying the rich, immersive storyline. The best part is, this game is even something my wife enjoys. She plays as often as she is able, usually when the kids are napping, and has advanced a few characters up to the Level 30-40 range. (She's a bit of an Alt-oholic, she makes lots of different characters, sampling the various classes, rather than focusing on just one.) No matter what I'm up for - a bit of solo questing, some group instancing, hardcore PvP, or just wasting time and blowing off steam, this game is ready to deliver. I hardly touch my other games (or game systems) these days, spending most of my limited recreation time playing WoW because it is so fun and relaxing. I can enjoy my time in Azeroth whether I have 15 minutes to kill, or a few hours to spend on improving my character (a rare occurence these days, but its nice to know the game is ready when I am). Soon, my wife and I will be getting a second computer and an additional account, so that we can both be online and playing together, rather than watching the other one play when its their turn. I'm really looking forward to sharing this activity together in a more interactive way, and I can only see it strengthening our marriage - since neither of us is obsessed or addicted to the game. Probably the only downside I can think of is the fact that you can't just pay for the game and be done with it. To continue to enjoy the game, you have to pay a monthly fee of somewhere between $13.00 - $15.00 (depending on how much time you pay for at once). I know many people who spend way more than that each month on their entertainment - a single trip to the movie theater can easily cost you over $30.00 once you factor in the tickets and concessions - and that's just 2-3 hours of fun. With WoW, you can have a lot more fun (I average between 2-10 hours each week, depending on what else I'm doing and how much free time I have), so that amounts to a better fun to dollar ratio than going to the movies."
