What's great about it: Wi-fi, battle, 16 old tracks, 16 new tracks and so much more!!
What's not so great: First place bombs, unfair!! Wish there was battle on wifi, and I wish you could race aganst 8 players on wifi.

"I bought this game for my brother (as well) and ended up loving it. Its a great slightly competitive game - and exactly like the Mario Kart I played on N64 so many years ago! I definitely recommend this to those who love Mario!"

"I just bought this game yesterday, and I have to say.... This game is SO fun. You can play the normal Grand Prix mode, or you can connect over Wi-Fi to play with your friends. There are quite a few maps so I doesn't really get old fast."

"Mario Kart of the Nitendo Ds is awesome. It is like all of the previous maio karts but for the handheld ds now! I would recommend this game to anyone because it is made for everyone. You have many types of vehicles to choose from and different characters. You also have different maps to race and different championships to earn. There are hours of gameplay!"

Mario- Never a Letdown!

What's great about it: new courses, other-than-racing games added, good graphics, interactive, Wi-fi allows for more competition
What's not so great: dual-screen can get to be confusing, 150cc difficult/frustrating but doable, some of new levels not as creative
"I have always relied on Mario games to be guaranteed entertainment and fun times, and this game is no different. Lots of fun! Especially great for travel (on the road, airplanes, trains, at hotels, etc).
It is a single or multi-player game and with many original levels carried on, but also new additions! The dual screen allows for the player to watch where she is driving and her own items on one screen and see what items the other players have, as well as who is in what place on the other screen.
As a person plays through the Grand prix successfully and achieves a high ranked place, he gets a grade on his performance... the highest being a star. By getting stars, the player can unlock new features to the game including new characters and levels!
Exciting, right?
Since it is on the Nintendo DS, a great feature is that if one person has the Mario Kart game, his/her friends can play along... and unlike other game systems, no one can look at each other's screen and "cheat." It gets highly competitive, but confusing (sometimes you may forget which characters the other friends are).
Overall, I definitely think this game is a safe bet to buy for kids of all ages... you can be sure they'll love it, because who can't resist a Mario game?"

"Mario Kart is an excellent excellent game. It is great way to spend anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours entertaining yourself. Great on buses, planes and trains.
So far I have only played single player, and I have heard that multiplayer is even better than single player. I think it is an excellent sign that a "multiplayer" type game is excellent single player. It shows that they really spent time refining and polishing the game.
I also think that it is great that the game gets gradually more difficult (more difficult tracks and then higher cc's where the computer players much tougher). With all of these different difficulty settings it is easy for players of all kinds to get into this game! And, over time the game naturally helps you get better at the game.
I highly recommend this game! Even if you aren't too hot on racing games, this game is much more fun that just racing."

"Such a fun game, a little different than the original but that's the point, right? The Grand Prix is progressively harder especially on 150cc but not impossible. All the different karts you unlock is fun also, not to mention logging into the online part of the game and racing against others from around the nation/world-now that is awesome!!! Does have its gripes but what game doesn't, rare that a game comes out without a single problem. I would definitely buy again and recommend this game to others."

"This is the best racing game there is. Choose from fun animated Mario brothers and race against people all over the world, computers, or beat your old times on laps. This is a very fun game filled with characters, but watch out for some of the people online! They cheat and they will steal first place from you even if you really deserved it! Haha. But seriously, its really fun."

"This game is a lot of fun! I bought the game for the online game play. This works well and is a lot of fun. I am getting frustrated trying to figure out how to unlock additional cars that you get as you move farther into the game. It is not much fun when you play online with one of the standard cars and someone else has a much faster car. I was surprised at all the other things in the game that you can play. There are missions that you play against the computer. There are numerous tracks in the game too. The graphics are great. You can create custom graphics for your car in one part of the game with the stylus. Nintendo DS does not support WPA / TKIP pre-shared key authentication. I had to lower the security level of my home router to WEP authentication so I could play the game. This is my first DS game. I love the new packaging for Nintendo DS games. They all come in a really nice jewel case that has a place for the game cartridge to clip in and a place for an additional memory card to clip in ( For other games I suppose not this one) AND they come with a little booklet with instructions. I hated that old Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games came with no instructions. You open the box take out the cartridge and that’s it. Some included a safety pamphlet that said do not eat the cartridge… possible choking hazard etc. but no instructions."

"After being solidly addicted to Mario Kart: Double Dash for the longest time (heck, I still am!), I figured I'd give MKDS a try. Fun on the go, to be sure, but I do have a few frustrations with the game. While I know the rules vary from Kart to Kart, simple things like the blue shell seeking you out no matter what position you fall to after its been thrown, to AI racers automatically finishing in their position even if it changes after you cross the finish line, make the game feel slightly sloppy, possibly rushed. Maybe I'm just used to the Double Dash formula, but I dunno? Online play is very fun and a welcome addition, but it can put you in your place VERY quickly if you're not careful. With no real way to prevent cheating, those who find ways to exploit the game are rewarded in unfair ways left and right! As for playing with friends via local connection, BRING IT ON!! Its definately a blast to trash talk in person while stomping on each other- sometimes for hours on end! Mario Kart DS is a game I'd recommend to pretty much anyone, but be warned- you'll have a hard time putting it down!"
