What's great about it: Cheap, Easy to use plug and play, great for gaming!
What's not so great: This product is overlooked and underated!
"First of all when you choose a router you need one that is fit for you. I know a lot people talk about range and speed which is important. My xbox 360s and computers are 1 floor apart and this router works like a charm. Compared to my Linksys 802.11b router this was an improvement. My old router was say like 5 years old. With my Linksys I would run two xbox 360s one connected by hard wire the other with Microsofts wireless adapter running xbox live and get my cod4 games dropped. The reason being was with the Linksys you actually have to open some ports. I'm not too familiar on how to do that so I looked for another way out. The associate at Best Buy was a gamer as well; He had a problem with Linksys routers because not all the ports were open. With my Linksys the problem was that it would run my 2 xbox 360s on the same channel and that is what caused our games to drop. Well this Belkin router has ports that don't need to be freed because they already are right out of the box. G is about 5 times faster than B routers and is also backwards compatible with B users. This router works with gaming and just surfing the web.
I have 2 laptops, 1 desktop, 2 Xbox 360s. Usually only the 2 computers and 2 xbox 360s run at the same time. I have not had a game dropped because of this router.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money and want a good router pick this one up.
If you don't use it for online gaming this will be ideal for you.
If you do online gaming and spent a lot of money on videogames pick this one up and save a headache.
Works great with Xbox live.
To all the other reviewers who wrote comments about this product and never used it because they couldn't get it to work, please don't give product a low rating. This router works well within a home. Save money get this and enjoy. You don't need the most expensive router to have a good one. Linksys is over rated get a Belkin or a D-link."

What's great about it: Very easy setup

"I actually think this router was a pretty good purchase.
I use a mac, and it worked seamlessly. The setup was easy, and the encryption was simple as well.
This actually worked better than the Aiport extreme I bought from apple. I was surprised. Very cool."

Bad decision

"I am an IT Professional, and when I needed a router for my home, I was going to purchase a Linksys, however I was in the store and say the inexpensive price on this Belkin and decided to try it.
Well, here we are four or five months later and I am shopping for a Linksys or DLink to replace this Belkin unit. There are several reasons for this:
1) I have to restart this router one to three times daily, either by pulling the power on the unit for 20 - 30 seconds, or by accessing the unit's web interface and selecting "Restart Router" BECAUSE my wireless devices (two - three laptops and a Wii) will suddenly lose their connectivity without warning.
2) I have found that this router appears on Nintendo's list of INCOMPATIBLE routers for their Wii.
I would recommend spending the additional $ to get a better router and don't be fooled by the great price on this unit."

What's great about it: Cheap; Works throughout entire home!
What's not so great: Issues Picking up the product at the in-store delivery!
"This is the first router I have ever purchased. My husband was very skeptical because the price, since everything else we were looking at started in the $70s. It truely has been a great purchase - no problems! We did have issues picking it up at the store, as they refused to give the item to my husband after I called ahead to request it. Oh well - got it now!!"

What's great about it: Works if you are located next to the router
What's not so great: Tends to lose the connection once a day requiring a manual restart, port forewarding was iffy
"The router was easy to setup, 10-15 minute setup time, but it loses it's connection about once a day and requires a hard reset to get it running again.
Since I run a home server and do not have access to the router at all times, I was often left unable to remotely access my home network."

"I've had this router for about a year and other than occasionally having to unplug and replug it to restart it I have had no issues. It was VERY easy to set up, I've had no issues with any laptop I've tried to connect, or any wired PCs either.
Haven't run into any speed issues, internet pages load just as fast on my PC as when plugged directly into my cable modem. I can pick up a wireless signal anywhere in my house. I have the same router at work, I even get a signal out in the warehouse about 100 feet from the router.
This router worked great for my home network as well as my small network at the office. You really can't beat it for the price.
Not sure how it would do with Vista though, I only run XP; sorry but Vista is bad and evil."

"I've set up at least half a dozen wireless networks and this router is the easiest I've worked with.
I set mine up about a year ago and besides taking less than 10 minutes, it has been bulletproof.
I'm not sure why there are negative reviews here - it sounds like the people who dinged this router either got a defective one and didn't try to return it or just don't know how to configure their laptop/router to work together.
I get excellent reception too and can sit on my back deck and still surf the internet.
As a matter of fact, I didn't lose the connection until I took it out to my garage to troubleshoot an issue with my car.
Ease of setup - pop the disk in and let it do most of the work. I set mine up on a cable modem with zero issues in under 10 minutes. I set my girlfriends DSL connection up in 5 minutes flat and she has perfect reception throughout her condo.
Signal - Excellent reception throughout my apartment and out to my back yard.
reliability - this thing hasn't gone down once. My gf brings her laptop over and she hasn't had any issues connecting anywhere in my apartment either.
Bottom line: Easier to set up than linksys, netgear, or dlink. Cheap. Reliable. A good buy."

"Problems with this router
1. the ports dont latch on to wires . They slip off and you loose the connection. (that should be enough)
2. Costumer service for Belkin is a waste of time. They make it seem like your wasting their time with questions about their own product.
3. Costumer service helps you with half the procedure then tells you to continue on your own and call them back if the problem continues. ( shouldnt they help you until the problem is fixed ?)
4. The wireless connection is a joke. I had my laptop next to the router and it still took five minutes to find the signal.
Finally Im going to return this router. 1 problem should be more than enough for anybody to return a product. Be wise and save your time. If a product doesnt work in the first ten minutes return it. their is no need to break your head for something you purchased. I learned my lesson."

"I had problems from Day 1. i never got it set up; i don't know if it was my computer or the router. i have Windows Vista, so that may have played a roll in this. I had to return it and i must applaud Best Buy because returning this product was painless. i got to exchange it for a new one and i'm very happy with customer service. I'm just sad that i never got to actually try and use the product."

"I purchased this on a recommendation from a friend because of the price. Well, the price was indeed a lure but the product is horrible. It's very easy to setup, but once it was set up the signal quality and range was horrendous. I couldn't leave the room without the signal dropping on my laptop. Aside from that, the unit would freeze several times a day - which I later discovered to be due to poor heat dissapation - and would require power cycling a couple of times a day to reset it. I highly discourage anyone from purchasing this product. Spend a little more money to purchase a better product. I exchanged it for a Linksys unit, and couldn't be happier."

"I bought this router so that I could have wireless internet around my apartment - and so far, I really don't see what all the negative reviews are about.
The installation was relatively painless, and the router installed easily (after two tries). I get a strong signal throughout my apartment (albeit a tiny New York City apartment).
The point is for what I need (wireless internet for one computer) and for the price, it can't be beat.

"Do not buy this router!! I've had it over a month now, and it just keeps getting worse. Signal strength is poor, even close to the router, and disconnects are common and frequent. Even constant resetting won't help with this one. Spend a little more money. You'll be glad you did."

"i bought this router acouple months back. i follow the easy instructions . but i still didn't have coonection . then i had to change where you connect the internet line to you computer. because the cable company was blocking the singnal. so it wasn't reconizing the IP add. then i changed the wires a couple of times . i has a heating problem. it doesn't shut off when the comp is off. i rested this thing a million times that is it . if i don't fling it out the window i fling it back to the store. aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

"I have bought 3 of these and I am sorry I have. I thought they worked well at first until I had to restart them more than once a week then it became more than once a day. Soon I couldn't use the wireless as it would stop working in less than an hour after I would restart. Thankfully the Best Buy I purchased it at exchanged it no problem within the Manufacturer's warranty."

"This router will not stay connected to the internet for more then a day. When I first set it up, it would stay connected for about 1 minute. I called the support line and after about 30 minutes I got it to work. After that, it lost its internet connection at least once a day. DO NOT BUY. Spend the extra $10 and get a better brand!!!"

"This is probably the worst wireless router you can buy. The first one I bought couldn't hold a connection for 5 consecutive minutes and I only got 2 bars from six feet away. I thought it just might have been that specific router so I bought an additional one to see if it was any different. It wasn't. The belkin router gets really hot and really does not hold a connection well. I called up the belkin tech support people and they just give me the instructions for restarting the router. I really don't trust the router when I'm filling out forms online because I'm worried that the connection will drop on me. If you can, buy any other router."

"This product was easy to install, and the price is very attractive. The only problem I encountered was a sporadic connection at first. I just downloaded the updated firmware from Belkin's website, and I have not had any problems with this. I can easily surf the web via a wireless laptop while playing xbox live on my 360. This wireless router is a great value"

"Needed something quick to access internet but not looking at spending a ton of money. Referred to this by the man in blue as I call him. Downloaded pretty good. I did need to call the help desk during installation but the service was good there too. No holding was involved."
