I recently purchased this dishwasher after much research and thought. The reviews I read were not great but I decided to purchase it based on price, brand and the desire for a QUIET dishwasher in a stainless steel finish.
The Best Buy employee told me that you must use Jet Dry with this dishwasher for good results. This was also reccomended by the plumber who installed it. The plumber also suggested running the kitchen faucet untill hot water comes out, this ensures the water going into the dishwasher will be very hot. Jet Dry is also reccomended in the mannual. These two tips have worked and I am extremly happy with my new dishwasher!!
One note: there is a loud grinding sound every so often when water is set to high or medium settings, on the normal or quick setting this doesn't occur.

I bought the LG dishewasher in Dec. 2007. It gave us a soild 25 days of washing dishes. Then, it started making a terrible high pitched sound. We took everything out and started the dishwasher again, the sound was still there. So, we were able to return it. We liked the features it had and the way it looked, so we gave it another chance. The second one came a week later. After the second load of dishes, we noticed water on the floor, it was during the drying cycle. The bottom of the door was leaking the water. So, seeing how we have only had the second one for 5 days, I am hoping that best buy will give us another brand of dishwasher. So, there you have it. If you do buy one I wish you lots of luck and hope that you have a better experience with the LG than I did.
What's great about it: It looks nice
What's not so great: Doesn't work

We bought our dishwasher in November 2006 and we absolutely loved it. With 3 kids, we do lots of dishes. The capacity is wonderful and the half load option is very useful. We could run out of dishes before we would sometimes fully load this thing. Well, in November 2007 we got an LE code. After having putting up with them trying to service the thing - and not having a working dishwasher for Thanksgiving or Christmas - the repair person finally came out on 12/26 to repair - only he couldn't fix it. Another few weeks and they finally approved a replacement. After years of recommending LG, this experience has really turned me off to any more of their products.
What's great about it: Quiet, Half Load washing
What's not so great: Warranty repair

i junk it in one year after the warranty was up . not worth getting fix. if you can get a repair man to fix it good luck. le error,circuit bord, leak water ect. will not clean dishes. broke down two many times. i junked it got a new one. i will never buy a lg again .

We bought this dishwasher from Bestbuy in 2005. Hated it after the first week, dishes were spotty, cloudy and not coming clean. We did all kinds of experiments on the dishwasher to see if it was something we were doing wrong. We tried different dish detergent even used what Best buy recommended Cascade Complete, still no improvement. We then added less detergent one day a teaspoon in the resevoir and a teaspoon outside the resevoir. This made a huge difference in the dishes, but it still is not a full clean look. After a while we changed out our glasses to see if this was the problem, the new glasses became cloudy. Forks knives spotty. Food cakes on pans. My mother in-law at the same time bought the Whirlpool gold stainless steel dishwasher. Hers she can put dirty dishs in. The LG you can not, if you want them to come out semi clean. Very frustrating!
Another trick if you already bought this to get the dishes decent looking is to put the dishes on a three hour wash cycle by putting extra rinse, pots and pans, and strong spay. This may help. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to have this dishwasher, well it would be funny to watch.

What's great about it: It's says hey im sexy look at me! Stainless steel, pretty digital display, quiet.
What's not so great: Spotty dishes, cloudy dishes, better off washing by hand.

We have an LG refridgerator and washing machine, (which we're happy with), so decided to go with their dishwasher as it has all the features of the more expensive brands and claims to be energy efficient and quiet. Our old dishwasher was noisy and inefficient. Although this dishwasher is very quiet, we are not 'wowed' by its cleaning abilities and have not seen any savings in energy costs. The cycles are really, really long, (about an hour and forty minutes minimum), which is a nuisance when you need plates, cups etc. and have to wait for the load to finish. We liked the idea of being able to lift the top rack higher to accomodate large items in the lower rack, but found that things didn't wash as well on the top rack when we used this feature. We haven't used it since. The cutlery baskets have annoying sperators that rest on top to keep cutlery from scratching, but just get in the way and the center basket has an even more annoying lid on it which has to be slid up to access the basket. I can't be bothered so I never use the center basket. I like the way the dishwasher looks and the stainless steel interior is a plus. It does a reasonable job of washing and you do get a lot for your money, we just expected a bit more.
What's great about it: Super quite. Qualified for Energy Star rebate program.
What's not so great: Doesn't get things as clean as we'd hoped, long wash cycles.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We got this product after having several LG products in our home including a refrigerator, TV, and cell phone. Since we were so pleased with all of our previous purchases we felt very comfortable purchasing this one. We had problems with this dishwasher from the start. We called LG directly and they said that we had to use Cascade gel to get the dishes clean. We have switched soaps and still no results. The only way we have a chance to have clean dishes is to use powerscrub function with strong spray. We also have to rinse all the food off the dishes. The dishwasher also always stinks a real musty smell. Please do not waste your money on this dish washer. Our neighbor has builder grade dishwasher that works better than this one
What's great about it: Looks nice, very quiet, and energystar appliance
What's not so great: Dishes come out dirty and spotted.

This unit is very quiet. Even standing next to it, you can hardly hear it operating. It is a very nice looking unit. But pretty and quiet does not beat out clean dishes. I have owned the unit for 5 months, so I have tried several dishwashing products and tried the different water spray strengths and cleaning cycles. My dishes come out of the washer dirty and with food particles. There is no heater in the dishwasher, so the dishes don't dry, the stainless steel tub stays humid and stinky. This model was highly rated and recommended, so I felt comfortable buying it. I am sorry I didn't keep my 20 year old Kenmore, it was loud, but at least it did what a dishwasher is supposed to do, clean dishes. But to be honest, friends who recently bought other models have the same complaints about their models.
What's great about it: Looks good, very very quiet!
What's not so great: Does not clean dishes, leaves food particles on the dishes, does not dry dishes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought one of these a few years ago, had warranty work done on it several times until it had to be replaced because repairs became more expensive than replacement. Now the door is broken.
It cleans OK but not great when it's running well, but not worth the time and headaches spent getting it fixed regularly.

We recently purchased a tall LG Dishwasher. Its the most wonderful dishwasher ever! SO quiet, SO efficient, SO roomy! Very impressive. I recommend the LG dishwashers to everyone.

I have had this dishwasher for over eight months and we love it. Very quiet. Does a great job on the dishes. This summer, it has been nice not to have the "steam" coming from the dishwasher into the kitchen. Since it is a rather complicated machine, I also agree the service plan is a great deal. Looks great with the rest of the stainless LG appliances we have.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We've had this dishwasher for about 13 months. It is broken more than it works. Thankfully we bought the Best Buy warranty which has been fabulous. They even replace the unit after the same part broke 4 times. The new unit is about 2 months old and we've already had the door leak and the motor broke. The best buy repairman has been great and the service has been second to none. Unfortunately, the dishwasher is terrible. Although it works today it is making some strange noises. If we ever have an opportunity to replace this one we are definately not buying an LG.
Ps, our LG refrigerator is the same age and has broken 3 times so far.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
