neat gadget, works ok.. removed or at least buffed out a couple deep scratches in a favorite cd so it is playable again..

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: can't think of anything.
It will not work on very badly scratched discs. I had one that would not play and ran it through the machine and played like new. Pays for itself quickly. Will save 99% of disc that wont play, Item description on bestbuy said it did not come with power cord but it is included. Would not recomend to run on batteries.

What's great about it: it does what it says it supposed to.
What's not so great: the polishing discs could last longer
I have been using skip dr's under various names and styles for more than ten years. First of all I recomend the powered model not the manual one. The skip dr will work for any cd/dvd or like disc as claimed by the manufacturer as long as the disc is not too severely damaged. One thing that I have found however is that it can take longer to fix scratches than manufacturer says. Also, I use distilled water and rubbing alcohol about a 30% alcohol mix. If you are having trouble with radial scratches from the skip dr. use extra water to help polish them away, just hold the machine so water drips out away from the machine and off the disc. If you get too much water inside the machine the water will corrode inside the machine. Although radial scratches won't affect performance of a disc in most cases. also, there will be some discs that will appear perfectly smooth but yet will not play.

What's great about it: Fix my problem and save a lot of money
I bought this product from best buy because my xbox360 mysteriously scartch my game while the system was laydown flat and it happen during game play thats the first time it ever happen to me but anyways this product is awsome it did not only fix my game that was scartch by xbox360 but it also fix my other games that my newphew had scartch too awsome product for a okay price

I bought this item 3-15-11 and returned it for a full refund on the same day. I followed the instructions EXACTALY on several DVD's that "stuck" and "froze up" in spots. After THREE TRYS ON THREE DIFFERENT DISCS it DID NOT WORK AT ALL. Dont wast your time & effort buying this item.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had several CD's that skipped when played so I bought this unit to fix them. The first attempt at cleaning did not work. The second attempt just made the disk worse. Not worth the money.

Its a Christmas tradition at my house for at least one thing to get broken before Christmas day is over. This year the kids scratched their Dance Central game by almost dropping the Xbox. I found this product online, read reviews, and went to buy it at my local Best Buy. I got the version that does include an AC cord. And much to my surprise, it worked. The game had a circular scratch on half of the disc and would not play at all. I ran it through twice and it started up but the game froze while playing it. I ran it through two more times and now it plays like new. The scratch is now barely visible on the disc. I suspect if I ran it through a few more times, it would probably disappear altogether. I highly recommend this product if you have children. You will make your money back and then some if you fix at least two games. I'm going to try this on some other CDs and DVDs. I bought this primarily to fix this one game but I'm glad I did because now I have some recourse instead of rebuying $50 games. But just as a note, look for the version that says that the AC cord is included. If not, you'll have to buy one separate.

I have to say I was extremely skeptical about buying this product. I had read the reviews and just wasn't sure. But I had purchased a complete tv series on Ebay for $50 and the series was $300.00 new. The discs came and they were HORRENDOUSLY scratched to the point 30 of the 54 wouldn't play. This machine works exactly as promised. Some discs require more then one run through but it works everytime. You are a little nervous when you pull it out and there are "sand" swirls on the disc, but with some buffing they lighten up. They don't completely disappear but they don't affect the playback. BUY IT! It saved me almost $300.00 in a matter of an hour.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm so surprised how well the skip dr works!
My nba street game was unreadable by my xbox. After putting it through the skipdr once it was good as new!
My Conker game had one of the worst glitches due to a scratch. It had motion lag and no sound! After putting it through the skipdr once it got rid of the motion lag and after running the cd again it was good as new!
Definitely a great product.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: easy to use, really works, the hand saw design
What's not so great: a tad noisy but the results are great
My first thought was a handheld saw but i like the design because it is unique and different. the only turndown for me if anything was that its annoying but i cant argue with the results! although i bought the Game Dr version but this one looked very similar and the only difference was the color and the GameDr graphic. This product is great and really works its magic because i have not had any problems yet with it or the discs. This is your one stop shop for disc repairing!

What's not so great: For the cost, I would like to see more fluid and a replacement wheel included.
This product works and saved my disc. I have children which love to use our Wii games, Xbox 360 games, and Disney movies as frisbees and coasters. The discs are scratched, sometimes to the point where you wouldn't think it can be salvaged.
SkipDr saved the day (and the discs).

I had spent a lot of money on some used DVD movies that were hard to find and many of them were scratched to the point they wouldn't work. The SkipDR fixed everyone of them! I highly recommend this if you have scratched disc's that need to be repaired.

I was really skeptical about this product. I figured it wasnt going to work and i would just bring it back. But it really did work! I had about 20 burned cds that were scratched sooo bad and wouldnt play at all. My husband and I sat and put every one of them in the skip dr and then into his xbox to see if they would play and EVERY cd played. They didnt skip AT ALL! Well worth the money!

we have 4 very active kids who think the game disks can be left laying atound, Ie Scratched disks! The Diskdr, repaired 10 Game disks back to like new. would recomend to all, It even repaired one I thought was trash. Well worth the cost.

What's great about it: 1) worked on first 2 discs that previously froze due to scratches, 2) came with adapter
What's not so great: Unit is about 1 hour old and has worked 100% on 2 discs so nothing bad to report yet.
I had 2 backups of DVDs my 3 year old son had abused by rubbing them on the floor or table tops. I'm not sure I'd consider the scratches exceptionally deep, but there were a lot of them, especially toward the outer ring. My DVD player is finicky about discs now (probably due to build up on the lens which I have to address next). I put both discs in, found where they froze up or stuttered, ejected them, cleaned them and re-played them. Both now play flawlessly. NOTE: one disc required 2 passes in the unit before the scratches were repaired satisfactorily. So, of 2 discs a 2-3 year old man-handled - both were repaired and are now functional once again.
Another great thing about the unit that others have complained about in the opinions I've read is that the battery operation doesn't produce enough juice to maximize the unit's potential. Previously the unit neither came with batteries nor AC adapter. Although it still doesn't come with batteries, it comes with the adapter which is noted on the box! I imagine that with the use of the included adapter comments about this unit's performance will start seeing higher reviews/ratings.
I should probably note also that there may still be boxes in stock everywhere that don't include the adapter so check the box or ask customer support if ordering online to make sure you're getitng one that does.
In conclusion, I am very satisfied with my SkipDr Automax Premier and would highly recommend it to those of you with young kids or buying used discs.

you would think for 45 bucks u would at least get a power supply or dc adapter to go with the unit to ensure the best quality repair for ur cd's... unfortunately this is not the case with this machine... i think i was better off just buying the manual one and stayin away from this automatic thing... goodluck to the next consumer
