"For being very computer "dumb", within 30 minutes i was able to be up and running wireless. needed it for the 360 wireless adapter. get an excellent signal even going through several walls. Also router is upstairs and 360 is down stairs. If you are like me and want a simple router with excellent results, get this little guy. For the money it is worth it."

Great Wireless router   04/22/2008
By Jack4926 from Alexandria, VA

What's great about it: Easy to setup.
What's not so great: A little to much automation

"Great for home or small buisness network setups. It allows for four wired devices and numorous wireless devices. I have also setup this router in a small buisness environment. It has a simple interface for setup and configuration. It is also firmware upgradeable, which is a plus."

Great router for home users   04/20/2008
By chsoriano from Texas

What's great about it: Simple setup, good array of security options, reliable
What's not so great: Does not have gigabit ethernet

"Overall this router is great for most home network setups. It allows for four wired devices and a large number of wireless devices. 802.11g offers a greater range and higher speed than .a and .b technologies. It also has a very simple and intuitive interface for modifying security settings and other options. It is also firmware upgradeable, which is also a very simple, nearly fully automated process. I think I've maybe had to reset it only twice in the 12+ months that I've owned this router. Overall, a great purchase for the average home network consumer, however if you're a gamer, you may want to look for a wireless router with gigabit ethernet included."

Do not buy this product   04/07/2008
By RNFinCA

What's great about it: none noted
What's not so great: does not work, horrible support

"Do not buy this router. Buy a Linksys instead. 1) it does not have any better range than the Linksys. I have used both in the same setup. They are exactly the same. "rangemax" is BS. 2) it does not work. I have had never ending problems 3) Their support is only free for 90 days. After agreeing to pay them for telling me what is wrong with their product, here is I sit on hold on their "premium line". 30 minutes and counting. I should have stuck with the Linksys. Do not make the same mistake. I read the same reviews as out there today. It worked fine for the first month or so. Then one problem after another. I assume most people write their reviews right after the purchase."

Best Router Ever   04/02/2008
By xboxRulzz

What's great about it: range, speed, simplicity
What's not so great: a bit pricey...but worth it!

"Got this router a year and a half ago and still not one problem with it. When a family member of mine needed one I got him this one. He has not had any problems yet either. I have also fallen in love with the xbox live connectivity with this router. All-in-all a great purchase with no regrets!"

By JakeV from Des Moines, IA

What's great about it: It is amazingly easy to set-up, and very good coverage
What's not so great: none, except maybe the blue light flashing all the time, at night it gets annoying

"I had a D-Link, and tried to install it, it sucked, but then I bought this, and it was easy to set-up, and had very good user interface on the settings manager. Amazing is the only word to describe it!"

A Great Buy!!!   03/04/2008
By rcm88

What's great about it: Simple setup, great range
What's not so great: Large size

"I bought this to replace the 2-week-old Belkin router that simply refused to work. It look less than 20 minutes to install/setup on my family's PC and 3 laptop computers. The range is great and download speeds are amazing! I would definitely recommend this router!"

Excellent Router For the Money   03/04/2008
By NCPODMAN from Reidsville, NC

What's great about it: Easy Setup, Compact Design
What's not so great: Signal not as strong as they claim inside the house.

"I've had this router for about a week now and it works great. However the signal is not as great as it could be. I have a 3500 square foot home and I get anywhere from a very strong signal to a very low signal depending on where I am inside my house. I have to admit the range is very good though. I have over 2 acres of land and can go just about anywhere on my property and receive a strong signal. Overall I am very pleased with the router and would recommend it to anyone setting up a wireless network at home."

Maybe it is worth it to you?   02/13/2008
By vtectuner from Traverse City Michigan

What's great about it: Very clean style
What's not so great: not very fast transfer rate

"Ok first this is a great router, BUT do not be tempted into buying it because it says 10x speed. It is not that fast at all. Gaming is not possible on this router, forget it. It would be great for someone who has 4 or more people downloading videos in a big house, but not if you like to play games. It is very cool looking and a great light show. I would not recommend this for the money unless you have a great need to see dancing lights?"

Terrible Install, good router   02/12/2008
By jetman08 from Madison, Wi

What's great about it: Router works well and has strong signal
What's not so great: Install disk didn't work, poor website support

"This is my first wireless router and it was a nightmare to install. The installation wizard (now there is an oxymoron) disk would stop in the middle of the install and wouldn't proceed. Tried to install with the disk 5 times and the same result. Finally, went through the steps on Netgear's website. These were hard to follow and didn't really lead you through the install. After 2 days, I finally got everything working.
For some reason, I have to push in the lan ethernet cable very hard into the router before it is recognized.
The router works great and has a strong signal. Thank goodness you can turn off the flashing led lights.

Spend a little more to get better   02/11/2008
By Netgear from MN

What's great about it: Compact size
What's not so great: takes several attempts to connect

"I bought this product in Nov 2007 and have not been pleased with it yet. While connected upstairs to my desktop/cable modem, it is very difficult to turn on my laptop downstairs and be connected instantly. Usually it takes about 10 minutes of clicking "Find Networks" to get it to recognize the router and connect. I will be buying a new product soon!"

confusing   02/10/2008
By jsue

What's great about it: previous reviews were good
What's not so great: installation instructions minimal

"When I first tried to install the router and put in the installation disk, my computer unexpectedly "closed", due to an error somewhere that was "potentially harmful. I couldn't restart my computer for several hours, then it wouldn't read the installation disk. The next day it did read the disk and I tried several times to install - everything went ok but no wireless connection. I went around and around to try and find the problem and everything that I could see indicated it should work properly. No wireless connection yet and I am too frustrated to call support just yet. My computer is very capable and I have NEVER had such a problem installing anything. I can usually figure out an installation error with instructions and common sense but not this time....very very frustrating and disappointing. I did not like the support/help feature - again very user unfriendly and my particular problem wasn't listed anywhere. Wish I would have bought the Belkin as a friend suggested."

easy and speedy   02/10/2008
By viditech from Denver, CO

What's great about it: easy setup, fast
What's not so great: unnecessary

"I work with a lot of netgear equipment in my line of work, but never anything designed for comsumers. When I needed a new wireless router for my home I'm glad I found this. Setup of this was quick...less than 10 minutes and my network was back up. Thanks to the gig ports my transfer rates have gone up and my wireless devices are performing much better. Excellent router for a newbie or a techie."

Exellent   01/31/2008
By PSGamer3 from Maryland, MD

What's great about it: Style, bandwidth, speed
What's not so great: nothing so far!

"I bought this item to play online with my PS3 and it works really good. i never had any error with the signal or anything like that. pretty decent bandwidth for games. Multiplayer games run smoothly with it. so if you are looking to play online with a router you dont need to spend that much money with a fancy one. just get this one and it will do it."

Excellent!   01/31/2008
By y2Ken

What's great about it: Excellent, strong, connections
What's not so great: Don't really care for the styling

"I bought this router to replace a Belkin G (F5D7320) router that was always dropping connections. I was always having to reboot it to reestablish my connection. I thought it was my laptop and tried EVERYTHING to fix it. Turns out it was my router, I have not had one dropped connection yet. Very happy!"

I am extremely happy with Netgear   01/19/2008
By MinPin from Yonkers, NY

What's great about it: easy to install, excellent range and performance
What's not so great: none

"I just recently went to DSL and wanted to set up a home network. I have no prior experience with networks. I chose Netgear because of its capabilities and internal antennae. I set up the network in about 20 minutes and have no problems at all regarding range in my home. I especially liked the ease of setting up security. This is an excellent product."

Works but not as well as advertised   01/18/2008
By BobC63 from Plaistow, NH

What's great about it: Easy setup
What's not so great: Range is not much better than a regular wireless-G router

"I got this router because I have my modem set up in my garage (due to some cabling issues in the house), and so every device in the house is wireless. My old router, a regular Motorola wireless-G router, worked ok but the signal didn't reach all areas of my house, which is 2,100 Sq. feet. This router is advertised as having 'extended range' so I figured it would solve my coverage problems, and I also figured that the 108 Mbps transfer speeds couldn't hurt either (although I still have 54 Mbps wireless cards for now, I may upgrade those later).
The reality is that this router didn't really increase my range that much. I have 3 Tivos in the house, and one of them went from receiving a 45%-quality signal to about 55-60% with this router. Even for this, I had to buy a 50-foot ethernet cable so I could keep the modem in the garage, and I ran the router into the cellar so it would be in a more central location. I had hoped to be able to keep it where the old router was but the signal just wasn't that good. I'll probably keep it because it is at least somewhat better, it's just not quite as good as they advertise. In addition, I can't really comment on whether it will actually give me speeds of up to 108 Mbps until I get wireless cards that will handle this for my laptop and desktop computers. However, I did notice that on the laptop, in some areas of the house, the speed drops down to 36 Mbps, even when I'm just one floor above the router and no more than 25 feet away from it.
As for setup, it was extremely easy and I had no problems with it.
I'd recommend this router if you're buying a router for the first time, since the 108 max Mbps transfer speed is nice, but don't buy this if you're looking to get a lot more range than your current router.
"
