This remote is incredible. They are kind of hard to program right off the bat, but once you do one, you could do the next one in half the time. Geek Squad has a service where they will program it, and I would probably do that if I could go back in time. It sounded a little expensive for them to program a remote, but if you do it yourself, plan on spending around 2 hours. Money well spent to have them do it.
What's great about it: It will work with anything
What's not so great: Hard to program

This remote is great! Whatever you may have, it will control it. The remote has a very wide range for controlling the components. I can point the remote behind me and it still controls my system. The rechargable battery is great as well. No having to deal with buying batteries!
What's great about it: Easy setup, rechargable & control
What's not so great: There aren't any!

I have tried other universal remotes but they wouldn't work with my a.v. receiver. This remote worked flawlessly the first time and even controlled my Xbox 360. The setup takes a little while to go thru to set all the buttons but is worth it. Finally one remote for 5 pieces of electronics. Well worth the money.
What's great about it: Easy setup, Controls all my devices and their features
What's not so great: Non so far

I have had a lot of universal remotes, but this is the first USB/Web enabled one I've purchased. I did a lot of reading before settling on the 880. This was EXTREMELY EASY to set up, and troubleshoot. It's database is HUGE. I have (what I consider) a relatively obscure Virtual Surround speaker system. It had it's remote in the Logitech database! I was thrilled and amazed. It works extremely well and when it goes out of sync it is extremely easy to resync. I only needed IR support so the 880 was a better choice for me than the 890 which is the same remote except it has RF support (for a lot more). The remote feels good in your hand, it's backlight is easily readable and the buttons are complete. Even if they are not complete you can remap almost infinately. I would highly reccommend this remote for anyone with a sophisticated Home Theater that doesn't need huge LCD's and huge price tags.
What's great about it: Extremely easy to set up, very accurate, huge database, excellent tecnical support
What's not so great: small screen
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the worst gizmo I've ever purchased. We've had it for 6 months and are going to get rid of it. Yes, it's easy to program, but it doesn't let you program it to your needs - you have to program ACTIVITIES and can only use a whole ACTIVITY, not a button to do what you want. This remote demands things be done ITS way and won't tolerate any deviation from what IT wants. So if you go into the Watching TV activity then want to play a DVD, that's a whole different activity - you can't just change the TV video input like with most remotes. If the DVD player is already on, the activity turns it off and everything is all out of whack and you have to turn things on/off and start over. It's a miserable mess! I wrote to Logitech and they said you have to do things the remote's way, not how you wantto do things. Unacceptable!!
What's great about it: Pretty screen
What's not so great: Doesn't let you program it the way you want, gets confused and doesn't work properly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I can't recommend this remote highly enough. DO NOT WAIT. I should have picked this up 5 months ago when I started looking.
Got this last night and had it set up in less than 30 mins. Operates with my 46" LCD, Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver, Toshiba HD-A30 HD DVD and SA 8300HD DVR. My only complaint is that it is not compatible with PS3 but this is Sony's fault for going with Bluetooth only rather than adding an IR port as well. There is a 'work around' for this and I plan on adding this in a few weeks.
Set up and firmware updates were very easy with online prompts. No manual to pour over...very intuitive.
HELP button very uselful if any snags.
My 6 yr old is now able to 'watch TV' or 'watch DVD' etc with, literally, with the press of ONE button. The Harmony 880 changes TV and receiver inputs, turns on or off components and even opens the DVD tray. If the 6 yr can do it, imagine how pleased for wife, parent, babysitter with be.
Do yourself a favor and pick this up ASAP. At $150 what are you waiting for, Christmas?
What's great about it: Full gear control, easy set up, customizable
What's not so great: None

The lock up was severe and if I didn't know as much about electronic devices, I'd have returned it but removing the battery, holding the power button and then re-syncing resolved it each time.
Works great for my old DVD player, my new 42inch LCD, my old Tivo and my HD cable box. Also sets the input for the Wii.
Well worth the money but before you return it if it locks up, try the fix above.
Oh and you can put a picture of your 3 month old baby as the background and as a screen saver...I just wish it had games like Tetris or something.
What's great about it: Works wonders, very straightforward, simplified my 6 remotes. Very customizable and sleek design.
What's not so great: Locked up on me twice during set up.

If you have a button on your OEM remote, you can have it on the 880.
*Round up your component’s model numbers and the initial setup takes less than 15 min; so easy a Caveman could do it. Simple questions like “When you watch TV, what do you use to change channels?” and your components are listed to choose. Inputs and outputs for each of your specific components are also there for the choosing when you get to that question.
*Digging into the software allows full customization of the screen buttons, right down to what you want to call them; including things like “Loudness” or “Pro-logic Scroll” as well as favorite channels. But be careful, you may find that you can easily become obsessed with your level of customization.
*All your OEM controls are fully available under the "Device" button so you lose nothing and may even find it easier to use functions that you previously found too cumbersome once you customize the 880.
*One button will turn on your components to say, "watch TV" but if by chance, one component does not turn on (if the dog happens to get in the way), the "Help" button will guide you through the fix quickly. One button will also turn it all off.
*A few obscure buttons are tough to read but they are all very easy to feel and locate without looking, even with calloused hands. The font on the "Activity" screen can be enlarged so it's easier to read (thank you). The unit is comfortable in the hand and easy to feel your way around.
*The screen is very bright but the glow on the buttons could be brighter.
*In hindsight the 890 may have been a better choice in that it offers an extender for when I get my system behind closed doors. Either way, having a remote that any guest can pick up and immediately use has greatly simplified my system.
What's great about it: PC interface, Innitial setup, Customization, "Help" button
What's not so great: Slightly dim backlit buttons, Small button fonts

Wow, Wow, Wow. You must get this remote! I have never seen a remote that has so much potential or technology. The set-up is so easy with the software cd, you cant go wrong! Do not get a professional to help set-up the remote. You will be wasting your money. You can control your whole system through the cd and its so amazing. I got the latest and best technology out and the remote still managed to pick it up. I just bought the Yamaha V1800 Reciever that has not really been released in stores, and the remote managed to pick it up like nothing. I also purchased the new 52" Samsung LCD 1080P 120Hz which was instantly picked up with this wonderful remote. I was truly amazed.
So I thought that when I finish programming the remote, I would still have to go back and mess with it and program it some more, but to my advantage, the answer was No. After I was done on the 1st try, the remote worked like a charm. I pressed Watch TV and it turned on my tv, cable box, and reciever at the push of one button. When I was done watching tv and wanted to watch a movie, I clicked on Watch DVD, and it automatically turned off my cable box and turned on my blu-ray DVD. When I was done watching a dvd and wanted to listen to music, it automatcally switched to turner. Unbelievable!! Everyone who used to come to my house was so confused with the remotes, they didn't want to touch my TV, not anymore!! You can even Add your own personal picture to the background and it can even play a slideshow when the remote is either charging or not in use. Very cool.
For the 1st time, I can customize my remote the way I want to. I could easily go back and revise the remote to display different names. For example, the remote orginally had the name Watch PVR - this feature is to watch cable. I went back and switched the name and replaced it with Watch Cable TV. You can do this with all the Activity or Device buttons. Watch DVD is now reworded to Watch Blu-Ray DVD. The features go on and on. I cannot get enough of my new toy. You must get it!!
What's great about it: Very Easy Setup, Controls your entire system, even the latest models
What's not so great: The buttons are a little tricky and quite small but managable

After mulling over forking over two hundred bones for an all-in-one remote for my system, I sprung for the 880 and boy am I glad! This is just as advertised. I have a new home theater in my basement and the 880 works better than I expected. With a simple touch of a button, it switches on every relevant piece of equipment and the subroutine takes care of it all. Even your lesser used functions are on menu levels for easy access.
Setting this up was a piece of cake as well. About 30 minutes on the web site and she was up and running. The menus was intuitive and very easy to understand, and even my LCD overhead projector was in the options menu.
For anyone that has 3-4 remotes sitting on their coffee table, this is the gadget for you!
What's great about it: Ease of use....
What's not so great: A Little pricey

I have a really complicate patchwork of Linux MythTV, HD Satellite, PS3, XM Radio and on and on. This remote has them all working together seamlessly after about 60 minutes after I got it home. I was amazed. After I got the hang of the web site used for programing I found out how very deep you can go, adjusting icons, button text, fancy timing sequences. You don't need to do all of that but it is great to keep finding new ways to tweak the remote.
My family is using parts of the system they avoided before because it's safe and easy now.
Great buy!
What's great about it: Start easy or go deep - it can do almost anything
What's not so great: No PS3 control

Bought this about 1½ years ago and haven't regretted it yet. The design fits well in your hand, and the backlit buttons are very nice in a darkened room. Some of the buttons are small, or set a little too close together, you do get used to it though. The charging cradle is really nice, it means that's where the remote sits, the batteries never go dead, and it doesn't get lost like older remotes.
The ability to set up many activities and configure the buttons allows me to control all my devices (including some pretty esoteric stuff--like my Roku Soundbridge and three-zone audio). I can customize the buttons and add specific commands and/or station presets on the top eight, while tweaking the other buttons to control the entire system exactly the way I want to.
Having one button setup and one remote for everything also rates high on the WAF scale.
Very happy with this, and I like being able to reprogram it via the Logitech website when I think of something new I can do with it! Highly recommended...
What's great about it: Controls everything! Backlit color display!
What's not so great: Some buttons are small/hard to read

To watch cable TV or a DVD, I have to use 3 different remotes, one for the TV, one of the receiver, one for the cable box or DVD player. Plus, my TV and receiver has to be set to the right video input based on what I want to watch.
So, every time someone comes over to babysit the kids and wants to just watch TV, they need an instruction manual on what buttons to push.
This product makes the entire process extremely simple. I wish I had gotten it sooner. It's trivial to set up: just enter in your equipment information and what settings need to be on using their set up wizard on your computer, connect the remote with your computer using the cable they provide, and that's it.
Took me all of 10 minutes to configure and now I don't have to explain to anyone how to work the remotes. Just click "Watch TV" or "Watch DVD" and the remote does the rest. One "Off" button switches all devices off.
P.S. I also have the 520 version (Logitech's most basic product). It does the same thing as the 880 but doesn't have a color LCD screen and the buttons are a little harder to press. Get the 880 instead of a cheaper one if it's in your budget.
What's great about it: Not bulky, simple setup, takes the confusion out of using multiple remotes
What's not so great: "Mute" and "Previous" have small print - hard to find till you know where they are

I just purchased this remote and within 1 hour I had everything working (the thing that took the most time was getting the model numbers for all of my devices). I went from 5 remotes to 1, simply amazing! The program on the computer makes this a breeze to set up. You can customize the buttons, change the background picture on the remote...everything! The best thing though, is not having to input codes. It's all done for you!
I have a PS3 and a Wii and it doesn't turn those devices on, but it does turn on everything else that I need on to operate them. It switches the TV and AV receiver to the appropriate inputs. Even though it doesn't turn on either device, I dont see this as a negative, since i use a gaming controller to play them anyway.
Finally, no more searching for remotes to turn on or off items, unless i lose this one. I highly recommend this for anyone.
