I GOT STUCK WITH THIS ONE   04/22/2008

What's great about it: NICE PRINTING
What's not so great: WON'T PRINT IF TONER IS LOW

"THIS PRINTER DOES ITS PRIMARY JOB WELL. JUST LIKE A HUNDRED OTHER PRINTERS. BUT I RECENTLY HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM DEVELOP. A CYAN TONER CARTRIDGE WAS EMPTY. MOST OTHER MACHINES I WORK WITH CONTINUE TO OPERATE WITH A WARNING THAT PRINT QUALITY MAY NOT BE AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD BE. NOT THE HP 2600N. ALL PRODUCTION MUST BE STOPPED. EVEN ACCOUNTING REPORTS WHICH DON'T USE ANY COLOR. I DUTIFULLY REPLACED THE CYAN TONER CARTRIDGE AS REQUESTED. I WAS EAGERLY ANTICIPATING MY ACCOUNTING REPORTS. NO GO. THE YELLOW TONER CARTRIDGE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE THING MUST HAVE A LEAK!! IT WAS FINE BEFORE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN PRINTED. WHERE IS THIS STUFF GOING! WELL ANOTHER TRIP TO THE INK SHOP ( AT $3.39/GAL FOR GAS - I'M JUST THRILLED TO BE MAKING THIS TRIP ). THIS TIME I PURCHASE BOTH YELLOW AND MAGENTA TONER CARTRIDGES. BACK TO THE OFFICE. FINALLY - SUCCESS. I HAVE MY REPORT. I FIGURE THAT THE COST OF THE TONER CARTRIDGES AND MY EXTRA TIME TO GO BACK AND GET THE ADDITIONAL CARTRIDGES WOULD HAVE PAID FOR A NEW PRINTER THAT WOULD GO AHEAD AND PRINT MY REPORT EVEN WHEN LOW ON TONER. I'M NOT CONVINCED THAT THIS PRINTER IS ALL THAT ECONOMICAL. I'VE HAD BETTER EXPERIENC WITH XEROX."

What's great about it: Quality Product, Low Maintenance
What's not so great: High Price, Large Size

"This is the best printer I have owned--The quality of both color and black and white prints is high; the maintenance is low; the cartridges are long-lasting; and the printer is compatible with my MAC. There are a couple of disadvantages--The printer is expensive; also, the size of the printer is too large to fit many computer armoires, desks, and hutches."

"I originally purchased a HP laser B&W and it was not compatible with a MAC. This works great with a Mac and the pictures come out great. Also, don't have to worry about the color running since it is a laser vs a injet (which the color do run or make the paper soggy)"

"I have purchased and utilized two (2) other HP printers and the 2600n is by far the best yet. It may be a bit costly at but dollar for dollar it is the best."

"I have never had anything but HP Printers on my machines and this is a superb unit. The downside is that the toner cartridges are pretty high priced. It is actually cheaper to catch the printer on sale and buy it, over buying a complete set of replacement toner cartridges. Tried to have them refilled, but was told they are still too new on the market for that to be an option."

Solid Performer, Quick Print, Very Nice Color & BW   08/15/2007

"This product has been torture tested and it flat out just prints high quality black and white, and crisp color images better than most. Cost per page is very respectable. Ink seems to last for a long time. Rated 4 stars only for print speed. The newest Hewlett Packard 2605dn model boasts quicker print speeds, faster processor, and more on board memory but if you want entry level, top notch, color laser printer, than this unit is for you. Color laser without the big budget. Networking feature is very nice."
