What's great about it: very good graphics, good storyline and gameplay
What's not so great: too short of a game, makes you want to play more!
"Gears of War is definitely worth the purchase. It has amazing graphics and a great story. It has 3 different difficulty settings so each time through the game is a fun and new challenge. I would recommend playing with a friend or online as well, the game has great cooperative play."

What's great about it: best use of a chainsaw in any game, ever.
What's not so great: difficulty could have used some slight tuning.

What's great about it: Cool story, fun co-op, looks and sounds great
What's not so great: Short campaign, repetitive play
"Gears of War is a great game, featuring very cool, innovative weapons, and nice cover system. The graphics are very good and sounds are awesome. Co-op mode is very fun because of the great blend of teamwork and action. The story is very short though, and the gameplay can get repetitive going through it. Overall the technical stuff is great but the fun only lasts and for so long."

What's great about it: Fun Campain, Easy controls, Fun xbox Live, good graphics
What's not so great: Only 2x multiplayer, can get lost in maps
"This is one of the greatest third person shooter games i have ever played. the story line is a good one and the muliplayer of xbox live is very fun too. The Weapons are easy to use and get use to."

"The graphics are great and it is extremely fun. The single-player is extremely short however, 10-15 hours max. Definite buy if you play Xbox Live, great online play and support, only negative is lack of campaign."

What's great about it: unique playing style, more ways to kill then just shots and melees, addictive replayable campaign
What's not so great: multiplayer can sometimes be slow, sometimes hard to play at night
"Games have been taking a severe drop lately. It has been a long time since we;ve had something as good as Mario 64 or the legend of zelda. Gears is a great game because it is so re playable. Most shooters in my opinion are only good for renting, but this is a buy. Campaign may be shorter then you like, but put that difficulty up and play on co-op, and you'll forget to eat for a day or two. Gears requires alot more stragety then your average game. Many levels present challenges besides the traditional enemy that you can only shoot in one spot, because we've all seen that a million times. The story it self contains several metaphors and is enjoyable to watch or play. As if that's not enough, one of the guns has a chainsaw on it, and watching blood splatter all over the screen as you saw a fool is great. The only downside is one on one playing has long gaps between action, but the action is so intense that it really doesn't matter. Just get it. You know you are."

"The story is great and fun to play through. When you add a friend into the mix it is even better. MS made it really easy to invite a friend into your game at any time over xbox live. This is a wonderful addition to playing through a campaign."

What's great about it: Campaign mode, Graphics are some of the best yet on Xbox 360
What's not so great: The multiplayer is good, but not the best. AI friends not the brightest crayons in the box.
"This is one of the first must have games for fans of the first person shooter genre on the Xbox 360. This game has some of the best graphics on the Xbox 360 so far. GOW also has a very good campaign mode that keeps you playing. Also the level of difficulty make it a challenging game for any level of gamer. The game is not a run and gun type shooter, and uses a very well done cover system so that you can hide in and out of cover. The game also does not utilize any jumping. This game is also around ten hours of campaign game-play. For those who are looking for a very dark and gory FPS that supports multi-player this is one of the best yet on the Xbox 360."

"If you are in to shooters, then Gears of War is definitely the first game you should get for your 360. Its gameplay is a little short, but it's multiplayer is amazing, rivaling that of Halo 2. Its graphics are also some of the best I have ever seen.

"Definitely the best shooter on the market. It is, in my opinion, better than previous Halo games and is by far much more interactive and complex. Actually takes strategy and teamwork instead of holding the Trigger and hoping you shoot someone while jumping up and down like in Halo. Would recommend this game to any 360 owner."

"This is quite possibly my favorite video game of all time. I am a huge fan of third person shooters and this one definately delivers. The co-op mode is incredibley fun. I am also very impresed with the fact that such a streamlined and paired down control interface can deliver such a rich varriation in character control. This game never gets boring. The graphisc are so impressive that they were woderfuly distracting th first few times I played the game. A necessary and solid purchase for any gamer, espescially those who are fans of shooters."
