Okay game..but not great

"I bought this game becuase of all the hype...plus I was looking for a new xbox game to play so I figured I give Halo a try. I never played any of the previous Halo games, but I have always been a fan of FPS games. I think Halo 3 is average. I mean, the graphics look great, but its not too exciting for me. The weapons aren't that great and the enemies are pretty repetitive. I am playing on campaign mode..no LIVE yet. I got to the scarab tank fight and pretty much given up. I cannot figure out how to beat it and I have lost all interest in the game now. I just think this game is very overated."

Great resolution to Halo 2

What's great about it: Great graphics, sound, controls, and multiplayer, as always. Most new weapons are great additions.
What's not so great: Graphics aren't quite as good as some Xbox 360 games, and the campaign is just as short as Halo 2's.
"This game is totally awesome. Simply put. The presentation and gameplay are great, just as Halo games have always been. The multiplayer has been improved from Halo 2 (even though a few erratic things still happen). The new Forge and Theater modes add a whole new level of awesomeness to the game as well. Even though, this game has a short campaign mode and does not have the best graphics on the Xbox 360, it still has the best multiplayer and probably the best gameplay. Hopefully Bungie and Microsoft will keep 'em coming while keeping the series fresh."

Hello to Halo

What's great about it: Fascinating Story and game play
What's not so great: Not that interersting for adult gamers
"Prior to Halo 3 I never played Halo, however, this game was very fascination despite the fact that I had no prior knowledge to the ongoing story line. I typically don't like to play first person shooters, but this game was an exception. I didn't buy in to the hype at first, but after playing Halo 3 I can see why this game is such a fan favorite."

What's great about it: Graphics Are Great, Sound Is Amazing, Great Multiplayer
What's not so great: Very Short, Goes back to Halo 1
"Closing Comments The campaign, which is very good, is Halo 3's weakest point. It doesn't capture the cavalier spirit of the original Halo, but you'll still have fun playing through it. There's no first-person shooter on 360 that can equal Halo 3's blend of cinematic action, adrenaline-pumping shootouts, and male- (and female)-bonding gameplay. Look beyond the gameplay and you have a rich feature set unlike anything ever delivered in a videogame. The Forge and the replay functionality raise the bar for console shooters so high, it may never be surpassed this generation. There will be plenty of aspects for fans to nitpick, but it's hard to argue against Halo 3 as the most complete game available on any console."

What's great about it: Great game, great graphics
What's not so great: none
"Halo 3 has to be one of the most anticipated games of all time on any system. And it is one of very few games that actually live up to the hype.
If you own an Xbox 360, this game is a must own. Amazing."

What's great about it: Great Graphics. Same old great multiplayer game play..
What's not so great: Very similar to Halo 2.. Short single player..
"I was somewhat disappointed after playing Halo 3 after the first week. Seems to be simply an extension of Halo 2 more than a totally new game. There are very few multiplayer levels which is a large drawback. The graphics, on the other hand, are amazing and the multiplayer aspects of the game are still second to none. I recommend it, but don't buy it expecting a long single player experience.. I beat it in a few hours.."

What's great about it: Fair graphics, good multiplayer
What's not so great: Fair graphics, bad firstplayer
"I found that Halo 3 is terrible in campaign mode. The story is awful, the scenes are horrendous and the characters laughable. One could hardly call the game engaging. The graphics in this game are decent, but not something that one would expect from a flagship product (Gears of War has better graphics). Multi player is fun, however get old after a while, as this is just the same old Halo as before."

What's great about it: Great graphcs and storyline
What's not so great: Controls take some getting used to if you have been playing Halo 2
"this game finishes all storys started in the previous games. It also uses all of the Xbox 360's components to make you feel like you are in the game with great audio and visual. The new weapons and vehicles are a great addition to the game."

What's great about it: Endless Multiplayer gaming
What's not so great: Short and disjointed single player campaign
"This is really a terrific game. The multiplayer gaming is what you buy this game for. The single player campaign is short and not very well thought out near the end, but over all still immensely satisfying. Docked one star for single player campaign mode."

What's great about it: awesome multiplayer and fun map editing feature
What's not so great: single player is not as good as Halo 2
"Make your own forge map is the funnest feature of the Halo 3. Multiplayer on Xbox live is more fun then any other xbox live game. Halo 3 is better than all the expectations it was said to be."

What's great about it: Great Graphics
What's not so great: Online mode is confusing for beginners
"Great game and huge improvement from Halo 2. If you haven't played Halo 1 or 2 I would recommend renting it before buying in case it's not for you. Story line is somewhat short but online mode makes up for this."

Greatest game in the WORLD!!!

What's great about it: Great gameplay, many different weapons, and the greatest online and most popular game of this time.
What's not so great: none...I swear this game is worth it.
"Plain and simple this game is the greatest halo game ever. It blows the last two games out of the water. This game is not just for kids either. Ive been playing with adults online too, so you know its a great game if your dad or mom is playing it!! There is over 1 million people online to this day. Not to mention the 4 person co-op which is very fun. In Halo 3 there is many more options to choose from like costamization of your armor, the ranks are different, and many more achievements to get. Get your copy of Halo 3 today and if you dont have a 360 trust me its worth buying one for this game!"

What Halo 1 & 2 should've been.
10/13/2007
By TheLostSkeleton
|
What's great about it: Polished experience, lots of variety, epic set pieces, great co-op and online modes
What's not so great: Confusing and dense storyline, requires in-depth knowledge of Halo universe to understand
"Halo 3 is good because it's finally the way a Halo game SHOULD have played. Every single problem I had with Halo 1 and Halo 2, problems that were no doubt born out of a tight deadline, have been completely eliminated in Halo 3.
Copy-and-paste level design? Gone. Don't like Halo 2's wimpy weapons? Halo 3's arsenal not only brings back some old favorites from Halo 1, but it beefs up most of the weaponry so that EVERYTHING has a use - even the Needler. Don't like playing as the Arbiter? You don't. Don't like how light on plot the game is? Halo 3 digs deep in to the game's universe - deeper than Halo 1 or Halo 2; it digs so deep and compacts the plot so well that it's borderline nonsensical at times. For the first few levels you really get the feeling that Halo 3 is not only the end to the Halo trilogy, but it is also a culmination of all the content that had to be removed from Halo 2 to make the November 9th Deadline.
And that, in a way, is pretty much the only qualm I have with Halo 3 - it is more or less impossible to enjoy Halo 3 to its fullest extent without first having immersed yourself in the Halo universe; you need to not only understand what happened in Halo 1 and Halo 2, but it would also help to have read the novels, too. Though the previous games in the series have never really gone too deep, the Halo universe is actually fairly in-depth and Halo 3 pulls no punches in referencing things from the novels - things the previous games in the series never touched on.
This means, despite Halo 3 being the best, most finely-tuned entry in the series, it will probably never convert anyone. If you didn't like Halo before, Halo 3 probably won't make you see the light - simply because it is doomed to be nothing more than a sequel to a couple of games that caught a bad break. Because, let's make no mistake - this is still Halo, it's just the pinnacle of the franchise.
Beautiful graphics (I'm especially impressed with the lighting/shadowing system), breathtaking music, finely tuned gameplay, humongous outdoor battles, and tons of awesome features to ensure that, long after you've finished the fight, you haven't finished the game.
This is, finally, Halo done right."
