One Awesome & Engrossing Game   04/29/2008
By Anonymous from South Jersey

What's great about it: Many choices of characters, abilities, skills and quests.
What's not so great: The game does occasionally lock up. So prepare yourself for it and SAVE often!!

"With the most awesome graffics I've ever seen in a game, you'll explore an amazing world where every outcome depends upon the personal choices you make. Every path you take is your own, beginning with the character you create for yourself when you first start out. There's a basic quest to get you going...but you don't have to follow it in any particular order. And the game doesn't end when that quest's completed. I've heard some people say they don't like it too much, because they get bored in the beginning. But I've been playing it for literally months now, and I'm still enjoying it. It does take a little bit of time at first to get your character trained to advance up in skill levels. But once you start moving up a little, the game gets a whole lot more interesting. I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone who enjoys playing action RPG's and enjoys getting totally immersed in another world. This is by far my favorite game. There are expansions you can buy or download to add even more adventures to your game as well. I do hope its creators decide to make another sequel to it. Its one incredible game whether you've played "Morrowind-The Elder Scrolls" first or not. The Elder Scrolls is this game's older cousin...an X-Box Game, which is also compatible with this X-Box 360. You owe it to yourself to play that one too."

Great Game   04/28/2008
By BSVeritas

What's great about it: Indepth and engaging
What's not so great: Time sucker

"Great game that will occupy you for hours. There are so many different choices of what do do, how to do, and when to do. You can easily beat the game in 30 hours straight but could spend innumberable hours doing side quests which are a lot of times more fun and very challenging (nothing like setting up the head of the Imperial Guard to get reassigned)."

Great game.   04/26/2008
By NordicWarrior

What's great about it: Time period settings to the max. No modern things. Weapons. Armor.
What's not so great: Difficulties.

"This game is good if you want to get revenge, or bring justice to people. This game is all about being decent, corrupted, or a hero. You can make choices that are very similar to everyday life. To steal, or not to steal. The weapons are great. The armor is stunning, and the time period is great. It feels as if you are in that time period. There are no flaws in the setting. This has to be one of my absolute favorite games. The game is just a little too hard overall, because you start on the downside of the hill, and pretty much stay that way, no matter how strong, fast, or intelligent you become. But, overall, people can eventually overcome the obstacles in the game. I personally, am Champion of Cyradel, Champion of the Arena, a night of the nine, A champion of the fighters guild, a level 30, etc. Those are some of the best, and hardest titles to get in the game. It took me awhile to get them, but it was well worth it. I most definantely recommend this game to someone."

What's great about it: great graphics,1st & 3rd person, free roaming, free pace.and much more
What's not so great: none-

"this game is great ive been playing it for about a year and a half now, and ive just scratched my disk, but moving on, this game has great graphics with alot of different paths to choose, like instead of finishing the main quest first, you can go and do a variety of things with other storylines behind it. plus this game probably has the greatest DLC and add-ons that ive ever seen. ITs main storyline is unlike those of the many other games produced, its character have unique motives and schedules fortheir everyday life....it's awsome"

Awesome gameplay, open world, and killing sprees   03/24/2008
By Bioazar

What's great about it: ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I HAVE EVER PLAYED (my opinion)
What's not so great: No comment.

"If you you like going anywhere killing almost anyone and doing almost anything then this is the game for you. When I first played this game I was so happy that Bethseda fulfilled my needs as a gamer. I really loved the gameplay in this game. Also the free roaming. AND MOST IMPORTANT: the massive deaths that I caused. This is my FAVORITE game ever (except for Halo and a few other games).

best of breed   03/09/2008
By Qwijibo from Moorpark, CA

What's great about it: Huge world, compelling storyline, simple gameplay
What's not so great: few to none

"As a gamer who rarely ventures into the RPG world, I was swayed by the rave reviews of Oblivion. What I found inside was hours upon hours of fasincating gameplay and a story that rewrites the standard for the genre.

You start off modestly, as a prisoner who is inadvertently introduced to a world of murder and intrigue. Travel the expansive universe picking up side quests and gain a reputation for yourself by joining guilds. There are hundreds of hours of gameplay available to you, and Oblivion only occasionally stumbles into the realm of repetiton. The rest is memorable and enjoyable.

Take any path you choose to the ultimate finale---there are few time restrictions, allowing you to fully explore the medieval cities and the outlying, lawless townships and caves that always seem to hold secrets waiting to be discovered. Dozens of unique creatures, spells and weapons ensure that you won't be bored throughout your long journey.

Even at its original price, Oblivion is worth a strong look from gamers of all persuasions.

A Beautiful and Strange World   02/22/2008
By celticbikerbabe

What's great about it: Huge environment to explore, deep involving storyline, intuitive controls
What's not so great: NONE at all.

"Okay, there are plenty of reviews here on this wonderful game, so I thought I would address the fence-sitters that havent bought it yet. Go on and buy it already!! It was worth the money at full price, now it is like finding treasure!!

There are hours and hours of gameplay here. Enough to keep you busy for months and months to come. You will not get bored. Tired of spelunking in caves and slaying rats? Go off on a merry quest for potion ingredients and practice your alchemy mixing different potions. Try perpetrating different horrid "accidental" deaths for the adoring fan you get upon completion of the arena gladiator battles.. There is just so much to do here beyond the main quests.

Once you get bored with all that several months from now, there are several download-able additions that add whole new areas and quests to the game and present other new challenges to you.

It is the purchase that you really will get your money's worth out of, and then some.

By Agen23

What's great about it: good gameplay, plenty of options
What's not so great: lots of loading

"Great graphics and wonderful audio and gameplay. There are so many options, they do not force you to do anything, there are many many missions and objectives, customize your character and appearance, almost any thing. If I had 3 hands I would give it a 3 thumbs up!"

A very LONG and dull RPG   01/02/2008
By vespa55 from Hercules, CA

What's great about it: Storyline is well structured. You can play game without any prior knowledge of previous game from this series
What's not so great: LONG and boring. You'll spend more time reading and going from town to town if anything

"I was hoping that this RPG would be all the bells and whistles everyone raved it would be. I was quite disappointed. It takes a little getting used to the inventory system and if you're not familiar with that system - battles can be frustrating. There is an incredible amount of subtitles to read and having your main character not being able to speak (just like in KOTR II) is a bummer. The sidequests are okay but overall, I wasn't too impressed by the graphics and gameplay. By the 3rd day, I just gave my copy away. It just didn't have the lure like an RPG like Mass Effect did. Oh well, it just wasn't for me."

First Impressions   12/15/2007
By muddog from Los Angeles

What's great about it: None so far except for the price
What's not so great: graphics look old fashioned to me

"Maybe I haven't spent enough time playing this but from the reviews I read I expected something like World of Warcraft which is incredible looking. People have said the graphics are great. This just looks clunky and 80's to me. But I only created my character and killed a few rats but even then it felt old and not very exciting. Hope that changes as I get more into it."

Best RPG 4 the 360.   12/08/2007
By Derek14790 from TX

What's great about it: Long, Open, Fun, and good replay value
What's not so great: takes some time to get in to. Minor gliches

"I have played many RPGs and this one of the best. Just making your guy can take any where from 30 seconds to 30 mins. In a good way. The game play is vary open and there are vary few limits. You can play for days and not even touch the main quest. The world is open and full of FUN things to do. The grafics are nice and the music complaments the area your in. Now if you have Xbox Live you might not like this so much. Why? because there is no muiltplayer. And i find it hard to play when people are sending me invites to other games."

Oblivion is hours of fun   11/14/2007
By Whyse from Tucson, AZ

What's great about it: Very long game, 100s of side quests, 1000s of things to do.
What's not so great: A bit repetitive at the end of the main storyline.

"Oblivion is hours and hours of fun filled adventure. This is like an MMORPG without all the "real" people messing it all up. Graphically Oblivion is very nice, with a huge map to roam including Forrest areas, lakes, rivers, hidden dungeons throughout the land. The villagers have emotions that you can change and make people like you more/less. You can ride horses, shoot bows, cast spells. This game has everything. You can join a number of different guilds which you can advance in over the course of the game. You can build your character from appearance to special skills to what sign it was born under. All of these decisions effect how your game progresses. Doing things make you better at them. For an example the more you fire a bow, the better you get at it and the more damage it starts doing. Same with anything else, jumping, defending, using magic, everything. This game has a very comprehensive storyline to it as well, during the game you can branch off and do one of the literally hundreds of side quests that are in the game as well. You can even buy and decorate a house in every town.

The only really bad things about this game are the fact that the end of the storyline gets really repetitive, so much so that you may have to play another game for a few weeks before you start in on it again. The other thing is all this room in the game and there is not even a co-op mode. I think this would have made the game a classic. I understand why, but it would be nice is all to have at least co-op.

Achievements are pretty straight forward. You will get them by advancing through the game and the guilds and that is about it. This is a great buy and I recommend it to anyone who likes RPG.

long game   10/19/2007
By smashking from bakersfield

What's great about it: challenging, long, great graphics
What's not so great: one player

"this game is a one player rpg. ive played it some and it was pretty cool, the controls are alot better than the controls were for morrowind. now you can actually hit guys. the graphics are pretty good, like most 360 games. the only thing bad about the game is the fact that if you get into it, which if you are a gamer you will, your online freinds are going to be begging you to come back to your computer to fight a boss or something, so you may lose youre social life. my freind spent over 50 hours on that game, and that was without the expansion.
this is an original game though, no rip-off

AMAZING!   10/08/2007
By paradescar

What's great about it: Hundreds of hours of game play
What's not so great: Easy to get lost

"This game has amazing graphics and hundreds of hours of game play. You can spend hours on side quests, which is great, but you are easily distracted from the main quests. This game is so amazing that if you have a significant other at home, you might want to wait until s/he goes away on a business trip before you buy, b/c you won't see her/him for awhile!"
