What's great about it: Cheap, Gives access to online play What's not so great: Costs too much in this amount, unnecessary if you don't play online
"With this, you're paying for online matchmaking, leaderboards, messaging, and more.
The only downside here is that it isn't completely free, but the small price is worth it for the great features. However, if you don't play games online, you can skip this, as everything else about Xbox Live, including the ability to download the awesome Xbox Live Arcade games, are available with the free Silver level account. If you like to play games online? You need this.
Here is the downside: when purchased in these 3-month incriments, you end up paying $80 for a year of LIVE, when you can get 12 months for $50 when you buy it all at once. I would suggest that you go for the year subscription and save some money."

"This great because is u dont want to spend alot of money for the 1 year this is a great substitution. i have been playing for one month now but i have been destroying in all games especially halo 3 and call of duty 4. i have already 30 friends which i all know. so this is a great way to stay in touch with friends. i play with my cousin who lives in the u.k. What is fun about is that u can have a like a 10 way chat (i usually have a 7 waychat) it is when everyone is talking at once and u can hear everyone. overall this is a great card!"

What's great about it: Good for beginners What's not so great: not the best value as far as the subscriptions
"First, the value topic, the 12 month is obviously the best value money wise, but if you're just starting and you're not sure about the xbox live experience, i'd go for this one the first time around. Second, xbox live itself. After first trying xbox live around the age of Halo 2 i was disillusioned. Bunch of cheating, lagging connections no matter what i was hooked up to dsl or cable, and too many ways to make the experience just plain annoying. With the 360 i purchased months 1 year ago now, i was reluctant to try out the one month free trial. I almost didn't care. Finally after lan party sizes were diminishing, less friends had time to get together, some of us decided to link up to xbox live together on one high speed dsl connection. So i gave it a try, it was free right. Much to my chagrin, i was impressed. Even if cheating occurs, it is much easier to boot out and report the problem players. I've expaned my friends list and have a great time. Think of it like myspace, but instead of reading each others pages, you get together in a sort of chat room, and then that room goes into a game. It works really well and there are tons of options for playing. I had to limit myself to keep from getting addicted, and to keep my eyes from turning red due to lack of blinking. I suppose i had to eat and sleep as well. Regardless, i have found xbox live to be worthy of five stars, though i rated this particular item as 4 only due to the cost. Though if you're a beginner, the cost outweighs in the opportunity to sample, so i guess in that way its a fair trade. Also be careful about which headset you purchase, the newer ones have the volume and on off button in line away from the controller. The older ones had the switch at handy access to your fingers. Now you have to take a hand off the controller in order to make an adjustment or cut off your mike. This is hardly consequential to the overall gaming experience. This is a good buy, but then i would strongly recommend going to the 12 month based on your experience. I primarily play Halo 3 and love it on Live."

"3 Months is pretty long time so this should last you. For $20 bucks you can easily get that money back within that time. Make sure you use your XBox Live frequently so that you can get your money's worth."

"this is an excellent buy for someone trying out xbox live for the first time to see if they like it, although it doesnt give very much time, if you like it you can always buy another or a 12 month when yours runs out. Great all around buy though."
