"The Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS is great. My wife bugged me to get one, I finally gave in, and it's the best decision I've made in a long time. No problems after 2 months. Can learn to use it the same day you purchase it. The portability is important since we travel to new cities often and can use in our rental cars. I like the "home" feature, where you select "Go home" from "My Locations" (after setting your home address) and the unit will guide you home from wherever you happen to be. Never get lost. It has so many other useful features, besides what you expect in a navigator. What's Not To Like???"

"After just moving to California, I have relied on this device for learning the new city where I live and for traveling elsewhere in the state. The screen is clearly visible and the voice directions clear, which lets me focus on traffic and my driving. I don't go anywhere without it. It was easy to set up, understand and use. I'm learning more of its functions all the time, and look forward to adding the traffic alert module as soon as possible. I can relax in the busy California traffic while using this device to get me to my destinations. And I like the way the device recalculates my route if I make a wrong turn or begin an alternate route without me having to press buttons."

"The Garmin Nuvi 350 is very easy to use right out of the box. The size of the unit and screen is perfect for carrying it around with you. The system can be customized to suit your needs. I have owned it for over a year and have recently updated the map software which took about 15 minutes. I have updated the unit software several times which takes minutes. The software is very user friendly and I have not had any problems with the unit to date."

"I really liked my Nuvi because it is portable and accurate. You can also use it for pedestrian exploring which is a nice to have. The only 2 issues I have with it are that it takes a while to pick up the satellite signal sometimes and the suction cup mount does not work so you would need to get a dash mount. I know some have broken the screen because it fell off the suction cup mounting. All in all a good product."

"The Nuvi 350 does it all: spot on accuracy in its directions, great voice prompts, a favorites function for one touch directions to your favorite destinations, mp3 player, jpeg viewer, world clock, even a currency converter. You can customize your start screen with personal pictures and even pick the voice you'd like to prompt you from a variety of male or female voices. One of my favorite features is the trip data screen that gives you your average speed, high speed, travel time, stop time, and miles-to-go to your destination. It's a must have for anyone who does a great deal of driving or even for those of us who like to drive until we get lost and find our way back home with ease. Updates online from the Garmin website are easy to find and install and I haven't had a single problem with mine in the year I've had it. It's a definite smart buy and while it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of other other Nuvi systems (i.e. the 600 and 700 series) like bluetooth, it'll still get the job done and then some."

"I'm new to the country and never felt that confident on the road until I bought the Nuvi 350. It has all the features I wanted: compact, flat screen, up-to-date maps, street names announced, long battery life and much more. I haven't begun to use all its features and have no fear anymore about driving in unfamilar areas. It's amazing how much more I enjoy driving now that I know where I'm going. I recently had to take a detour due to flooded roads and the Nuvi redirected me in the shortest possible time. In a strange city, I made a wrong turn and it quickly got me back on track. I can't say enough about this little wonder and can't wait to take it traveling to other parts of the United States and to the U.K."

"Save $100.00 and get the Nuvi 200, trust me!! I just got the 200 and my father followed by getting this unit. It is VERY annoying for several reasons! DO NOT get this if you wear POLARIZED SUNGLASSES you will NOT be able to read the screen 'cause colors change and the screen gets VERY DARK, you will be sorry!! Bring your sunglasses in w/ you to look at the screens if you're in doubt, this makes a HUGE difference! As for the extra's, who needs MP3's on their GPS? It sounds lousy, but is surprisingly loud. Also very annoying when it tells you the name of the roads which you are to turn on, the less these things talk, the better IMO. There is an annoying pop up/option to simulate your driving route when you start your map, and you CAN NOT change it in the settings.. useless, annoying, option! Again, the 200 works GREAT, is easier to use, costs less, is the same size and the mapping is identical!!"

"I got the first one, worked fine for a week. Then I'm coming back from the beach and it stops working. It couldn't lock onto a satellite. Got worse and worse till it just didn't get any reception.
My second one worked great too for about a month until the speaker stopped working. I tried to return it and they said we cant take it back and you should just live with it. Why should I do that if i paid $550 for the thing to talk??
I'm on my third one now and I hope this darn thing wont break on me."

"The nuvi is awesome! It is very lightweight and the perfect size for portability. My job involves constant travel and the nuvi helps me get around in unfamiliar territory. If you miss a turn or there is construction it will immediately re-route you. It also displays points of interest and is really easy to navigate. I highly recommend it!
The only complaint I would have is not about the nuvi but about gps information itself. My friends built a house 2 years ago and their address still does not exist, and I have the latest version of the software. If companies are going to offer the service, they need to constantly update the location information, as cities are constantly growing."

"I have been using this product for about 2 weeks now and I can no longer imagine driving without it. Washington DC metro has one of the nation's worst traffic, with my garmin 350 I'm more confident in taking alternative routes without fearing of getting lost. Acquiring satellite signal is fast, the screen is higly visible and the best of it is that it calls outs the street names and not having to take your eyes off the road. If you make the wrong turn don't worry, it recalculates your route in seconds. It's really easy to set up and its compact size easily fits in your pocket and thus making it less likely for thieves breaking into your car to steal your gps."

"I call this purchase my $400 folly. It is my first GPS, and as someone who has little sense of direction and travels alone, I was looking forward to having my own co-pilot. Unfortunately, in the Ohio area where I live, the Navi loses satellite connections about every other block. It doesn't tell me when it has found a new signal, so I sometimes fear I am "driving blind" until the voice suddenly tells me to make a turn. Also, I have found that the Navi does not seem to know "short cuts," but depends on major roads .. at least from initial planning. If I take a shorter route that I know will get me in the general direction, the Navi does adjust itself. However, once when I took a back route home and for fun asked the Navi to direct me there, it kept telling me to take streets that would have gotten me no where close to home...one of the streets was a cul de sac. Also, I learned that I have to have specific addresses or I may end up on the wrong side of a major thoroughfare when the street I want crosses it. I recently wanted to locate a specific store, knowing there was one within about 15 miles from me. The Navi insisted I travel 40 minutes in the opposite direction! But, perhaps I just haven't figured out yet how to type in the right questions. I've only had the Navi a little over a month, but while I'm driving, I can't play around with other options to search for the best way to ask for directions. I'll keep trying since everyone seems to write glowing reports on this product. I've accepted that it must be operator error on my part; but frankly, if Best Buy had allowed me to return the product because of dissatisfaction and get a complete refund, I probably would have. (There was a 15 or 20% restocking fee...I believe that's what I read in the fine print.) The young female salesperson who assisted me said she was on her second Garmin and couldn't get by without one. I've decided that youth are just more technically competent than an oldster like myself....no offense to other reviewers who might also be senior citizens."

"Its better then any one I have tried before. When I went into the store, the rep for Garmin was there to help me. Not only is the product good but they make sure there is a qulified sales person to help you make your selection. This unit was able to make my move into this location and good one. When I came to this area, I was so lost. I recently gave the unit to a family member. They seem to love it also."

"This is by far the best GPS for the money! When I travel it is perfect and when we park and walk in the city I just mark where the car is, slip the Nuvi into my pocket and when we get ready to head back, I just "ask Nuvi" to take me to the car! Don't waste money getting a GPS built into the car, this goes in any of our vehicles and you only buy it once! Also appreciate the upgrades via the internet and you can purchase detailed maps to download if you like."

"I love this Nuvi. I have an earlier model at work, but this one is far superior. It's small, yet easy to use and read. It actually says the names of the streets. And it's portable. I love the restaurant feature. I only had time to type in a few letters of the restaurant before traffic started moving again and it came up with what I was looking for. And it's pretty cool to be able to choose the opening screen.
There are a few drawbacks. The voice isn't as natural sounding as the early model, but I think that's because it says the names of the streets and the software has to manage that. There are a few streets that it mispronounces and I don't know if that can be corrected. There were a couple of times on our last roadtrip that we did what Nuvi told us to, but then she had to recaculate because we ended up where we shouldn't have. It's a bit naggy. Sounds exasperated when we don't follow directions. That is actually part of why I like it. It tends to be self-destructive. It leapt off my windshield a few times.... and yes, I cleaned my windshield before attaching it.
I would highly recommend the Nuvi."

"If you live in any metropolitan area you need this device WITH the traffic monitor. It has got me out of many tough situations where i thought i would be late and put me back on the road.
I can't think of one thing I own that is as valuable as the Nuvi.
Map updates are FREE and regular, what else could you ask for."

"This is our first GPS system and so far we love it. We like the favorites menu because my husband works at different venues and we just loaded them all in there. Not only that, we can save a coordinate instead of an address or POI. It even has a measurement conversion, calculator, and language translation (optional purchase, but worth it if you go out of the country). With so many different options available, and a reasonable price, you definitely cannot go wrong with this unit. We highly recommend it."

"I love this little gps. I can't begin to tell you how this thing has saved my wife and I countless fights and hours getting lost. I would recommend the 350 to everyone who wants to simplify their lives x10. I have owned this one for about a year now and have only one minor complaint. On a recent trip to Baltimore from Dover the GPS insisted that I take a back road that runs along side an interstate (rt 2 instead of rt 97)."

"I purchased the Garmin nuvi 350 just one week prior to taking a motor home trip with my wife and 13 yr old grandson. We left Florida and went to Niagra Falls NY and then to Custer South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore and the badlands. We came back to Fl. via St. Louis where we toured the gateway arch.
I had never used a GPS unit but had no problems learning how to use because of the excellent instruction manual I printed from my home PC. My wife and I both were amazed at how well the unit worked and how much less stressful the entire trip was when just following the directions given by the GPS instead of having to read maps and decide which roads to take. The unit worked flawlessly and really paid for itself many times over the 17 days we were on the road. It was very accurate, even when we were in the middle of major cities and took us on side trips that we would have never attempted without it. For instance, from the RV park outside of St. Louis to the Gateway Arch. I just entered gateway arch into the unit as where I wanted to go and away we went with no concern as to how to get there. I also like the capability of getting weather reports and traffic conditions in the major cities, using the optional antenna and special services offered in most major cities."
