What's great about it: The audiophile sound quality is out of this world! What's not so great: Nothing...Absolutely Nothing!
"I picked up my first pair of Def Tech Pro Monitor 1000's yesterday to go along with my Supercube III Sub and Pro Center 2000 Center Channel speaker. Although I auditioned them with a Denon 2808ci receiver (which I bought a couple of months ago) they sounded even better once I got them home. I replaced huge Boston speakers with these and can't tell you how impressed I am. The size really is deceptive. They sound like MUCH larger speakers. The technology utilized results in a speaker that blows everthing else I listened to out of the water - regardless of price. You owe it to yourself to give these a listen. You definitely will not be disappointed. I have been a Boston Acoustics cheerleader since I bought my first pair in 1983, but I've changed my allegiance. Definitive Technology ROCKS - in every sense of the word. Even their customer service is first rate. I spoke with a Technician before I purchased and he talked me out of larger and more expensive Def Tech speakers. Boy, I'm glad I listened to him!"

"This was the first set of high-end speakers that my wife and I purchased for our new house, and we wanted something that would fill our main room without needing a 5.1 or 7.1 system (that's coming later once I finish the basement). These speakers are incredible, and look great in our wall unit - barely even notice them. I like them so much, that I may have to deck out the basement with Definitive Technology products instead of the 'typical' brands. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for the highest quality sound out of 2 bookshelf speakers."

Fantastic clarity

What's great about it: Very crisp mids and highs, very smooth sound What's not so great: Slightly awkward on stands sold at Best Buy
"I've always known definitive to be a really great name. The value for the money spent on these speakers is really second to none. Everyone touts Bose as the name to beat, these speakers surpass the lifestyale speaker system I had prior. I coupled them with the ProSub 1000 subwoofer and a ProCenter 1000. Also put a pair of SpeakerCraft CRS1 6" speakers in my ceiling for the back. This setup left me flabbergasted and highly satisfied. Movies, music sports, everyyhing I throw at them sounds unbelievable. I can't get over what a full sound comes from such small speakers. Definitely consider these."

"The lows and highs are awesome, way beyond there size. They pack allot into them. The are fairly heavy but the optional mounting brackets handle them well."

What's great about it: Excellent Mids and Highs What's not so great: Conventional looks
"I was looking for a 2.1 stereo setup for a Panasonic receiver. Finally I had to choose between Bose 201 and Definitive promonitor 1000. At best buy they do not keep these speakers side by side to compare and take a decision. So I had to buy both Bose and definitive to test them at home and keep only one which I like. What I noticed is that the highs and mids are better in definitive where as the base is better in Bose. Also I wanted to check out the fatigue levels of long time listening. At the same treble settling the definitive is sharper, that means that you can lower the treble to match the softness of bose 201 and you get a clearer highs. The mids are much better in definitive at the same volume levels. Since I was looking for a speakers which can deliver good highs and mids at very low volumes. I choose to keep the definitive. But if you are looking for a good base the bose is better. You need to loosen up the speakers for atleast a week to get the best out of them since they are very stiff initially."
