Slow, but prints well.

What's great about it: Quality of printing is good.
What's not so great: Doesn't work with a business HUB and don't expect it to print very quickly.
"Don't expect to hit print and the printer to start. It takes any where from 30 seconds to a minute to begin, so patience is required if you need something printed quickly. We are actually thinking about returning the printer to Best Buy."

Scanning Over WiFi is Terrible! Rarely even works
04/16/2009
By ComputerBuyer9999

What's great about it: Not much
What's not so great: The scanning software is bloated, slow, and rarely works.
"HP needs to do some serious work on their software. The "Soution Center" is anything but. It would more aplty be named the "Problem Software by HP Center" If you buy different HP all-in-one models, you get different versions of the bloated software package that seem to conflict, take man-days to get installed right, and even when it appears properly installed, often hangs and refuses to work."

Lots if issues
02/04/2009

What's great about it: Pictures look great
What's not so great: Mechanical Issues/Bloated Software Package
"I'll start with the good...If you get the vivera ink the pictures look great! I accidentally got the vivera ink onetime and I could noticeably tell the difference.
Ok, to the bad...The software is junk. I have it networked on one computer and USB on my laptop. The USB works fine, but for my desktop, I have to keep re-installing the software to get it to pick up the printer right. The worst thing though is the mechanical problems. I had it about a year, and then I kept getting the "Carriage Jam" error. I tried all the things on the internet to fix it, but it just looks like it's broken. I can lift the cover and move the carriage all the way to the right and get it to print, but usually it's a 5 minute ordeal each time before it finally works. From what I can tell this is a common issue and my recommendation is to stay away from this model.
I've had several HPs in the past and had nothing but issues, either with the software or the hardware, and coming from a software engineer that's saying something. I'll be picking up a brother all-in-one today...done with HP. I can see why HP's bottom line has been getting fatter, they left the quality at the door."

What's great about it: its was easy to setup
What's not so great: nothing really
"its was easy to setup and to us if my 63 year old mother can us it to fax, scan, print and copy then anyone can. It get the job done the quality is great and the only problem I have is that ithe ink runs out quick but it stands true to the fact the a cartridge print 420 pages if you want to spend 300.00 dallor for a printer that print 1500 then be my guest but for the price 119.00 you can't go work."

if you want a scanner avoid this printer
01/19/2009

What's great about it: it prints and faxes well
What's not so great: scanner uninstalls itself and sometimes the whole sw package w/o warning or reason
"I have had to install this sw more often than I choose to remember. The scanner suddenly disappears.
HP did find a fix, in the form of an update and then threw it out. The fix was gone by the time I had replaced my computer.
I don't know how it works with other products, but if you are running vista and want a reliable scanner avoid this all-in-one/"

Pretty Darn Good! (For the Price)

What's great about it: Very easy to use.
What's not so great: Autoload document feeder could hold more pages but not a real big deal.
"Bought this to replace my Dell 962 when it died. I use this thing for every (business and personal) printing, copying, scanning and faxing need. Can't believe this thing can do all that it does especially since it doesn't cost a whole heck of a lot. If you need a decent printer and you're on a budget or just don't want to spend a lot of money then this is for you."

Great for home use
10/22/2008

What's great about it: Does everything it is supposed to do effectively
What's not so great: Not speedy but bought it for functionality, not speed
"I hooked mine up to my router and use it from multiple computers without any problems. Hard to imagine just a few years back that we could purchase a Fax, Printer, Copier, scanner so inexpensively...one that not only prints with great quality but also prints pictures quite well. Faxes are as good as any machine, copies could not be any better and when I scan pictures I usually can make them better then the original. I bought this in a deal with a laptop and I think the ink costs more then I paid for the printer (beacause of the deal) and with home use in a year I'm still on the original cartridges. My default is to save ink. so for most stuff I do in fast mode but when I want quality it is a simple setup change or a button push (for copies). I should mention too, I like the compactness of it, I have it on a small printer stand and there I have everything I need in one unit. Before I had multiple units stashed everywhere, now my computer area is the neatest it has ever been."

What's great about it: Tons
What's not so great: none really
"I've had my printer for about two years now and love it. I like all the features about it, and have found the scanner/fax to be excessively useful. I noticed many people complaining about paper jams, which will happen if you don't load your paper tray correctly. I always fan my paper, then load the tray. Something a copy guy showed me years go to lessen jams :)"

What's not so great: Loud and impossible to install
"I purchased this with the idea that an HP printer is an HP printer. After taking more than an hour to install the software, I was unpleasantly surprised to find that the once the printer is turned on, my computer would no longer recognize any other USB ports. Now, seeing as my network uses a USB hookup, imagine my horror at not being able to go online to have HP determine the problem. I uninstalled, went online to HP and downloaded the patch. Once again I installed the drivers and the same thing happens.
If I wanted a loud printer to work only when I was offline, I would have purchsed a cheaper model."

What's great about it: Easy to load, quiet, good quality printing
What's not so great: slow to scan
"I was setting up a home office for the first time and needed an all-in-one machine. I used your customer reviews to narrow my search and then researched the quality of the machines from that point. If you want a copier/printer/fax/scanner that is easy to hook up and load, attractive, takes up very limited space and is very reliable, this machines will do the job for you. I would purchase it again, if needed."

What's great about it: Best Features
What's not so great: I have NONE at all
"I went online to purchase an AIO Printer. I did not have to go far. I purchased a HP 6310. I made one call to ask a couple of questions. The person on the phone was from Arizona, and very helpful. If anyone has any questions I would recommend you to call Best Buy. I recieved my printer in 3 days. I love this printer, its prints excellent documents and crisp sharp photos. The Fax works excellent as well. It does'nt matter if you print photos from a memory card or directly from the printer or from your desktop. I cannot say enough about the service I have received and about Best Buy as a whole. Best Printer Ever. Thank You Best Buy."

Solid Reliable Printer

By hoplite3

What's great about it: Wireless printing, supports Linux
What's not so great: smallish paper tray
"If you work out of a home office or run a small business, this printer is one to consider. I have limited office space in a home office and the small footprint of this printer is great. It's easy to setup and maintain as well. The ink cartridges are not the cheapest but you'll get a good amount of work done (depending on your needs). Printing: fast and reliable, I seldom have any issues with print quality or speed. Fax: Great feature, even allows for multi-line configuration as well as auto-answer mode. Scanning: Great for scanning receipts and documents. Occasionally need to test receipts and make adjustments to the default settings. Copy: fast and a good selection of options allows for a wide range capabilities here."

What's great about it: great price and great functionality
What's not so great: None that I have found
"I bought this for myself and have loved it. It was so great for printing but I love the fact that I can copy and fax whenever I need. This was so great for us that I bought my Mom and Dad the same one. They have loved it. My Mom was always asking me to fax or copy things for her so now she can do those things as soon as she needs to and not have to wait. I also love the slots for memory cards. I can put the SD from my camera in and either print or scan to my computer. Would recommend this for anybody looking for an all in one and do not want to spend alot of money."

What's great about it: convenient if it only worked.
What's not so great: jams easily, software bugs, freezes, now a mechanical failure.
"I purchased this one to save a little money. I thought it would be enough for what I needed, small home business. When scanning more than a couple of pages, the system freezes up, even with the software updates, I have a newer computer. Many other problems. Steer clear."

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: A little slow with printing
"This printer has served our family well. Our daughter uses it for school projects - printing and scanning as well as copying. She has no difficulty with any of the features. I also use it regularly to complete college papers, fax and scan documents as well as making copies. The colors are vivid and true to the original. Price is excellent considering what you receive! Which is more than your moneys worth"
