What's great about it: variable interior, Energy Star, clear glass shelves
What's not so great: soft material, not as quiet as we had hoped
"This new fridge is the shining star in our kitchen. I love the glass shelves that are adjustable and removable. I took one shelve out to make room for high beverage containers that take up the most space in my fridge. The clear glass shelves have a lipto keep spills from running over the edge. I love that we could get this fridge without ice maker since we don't use ice in our drinks. That frees up lots of space in the freezer compartment. On the down side, the fridge was lightly dented through delivery. It seems the stainless steel hull is so thin that besides being in a cardboard box the fridge got dented from the dolly. It is energy star qualified and was advertised as quiet, hoever, it is not as quiet as we had hoped. We were told the solution would be to completely enclose the sides with a cubby hole."

Terrible refrigerator

What's not so great: refrigerator beeps and the handle fall off
"We did are homework on Refrigerators before deciding on the LG, because everyone said LG makes a quality refrigerator. Well they are DEAD WRONG. We have had the LG for 5 months and we have had nothing but problems. The first day the LG was delivered the handle fell off. 5 months later it still falls off. Now the refrigerator beeps nonstop (even with the door shut). We called Best Buy and they have been wonderful. A service man was out 24 hours later. The problem is we have to wait 10 days for the part to come in. 10 more days of a constant beeping.
When you spend a lot of money on an appliance you expect years of service. 5 months and already two defects to a refrigerator is unacceptable. LG lives on it's name not it's quality. TERRIBLE Refrigerator."

"This fridge is remarkable. From the look to the roominess. I had read other reviews of this product and was suprised at some of the negatives. We have had no problem with noise from this refridgerator. Its actually quite quiet! The freezer is very roomy and the fridge with all that you can adjust to fit your food needs is perfect. I have had no problems with the temperature either. After reading some reviews I thought I better set the temp a little higher from the start, and that turned out to be too cold:) So far so good with this LG."

Worst fridgerator ever

"I owned the LG Model#LRBN2251ST for approx 1 year three months. Thermostat didn't work properly from the start heavy frost formation. Items in the fridgerator would fluctuate from cold to warm in the course of a day. The freezer handle fell of twice in the short time I owned the product. Cracks in the interior wall of the unit were present in several locations. LG was contacted about the problem and the item had to be replaced. The repairman had never seen a one year old refridgerator with this problem. Don't buy this product it's the worst one I have ever seen."

"We bought this fridge because we liked the bottom freezer style and in terms of looks its just what I wanted. However, it is REALLY LOUD. It bothers us at night and when I'm home during the day. Also, the freezer gets overly frosty and then melts and drips everywhere. We really regret buying this."

"purchased in jan 07 2 weeks ago it started making a loud noise it was so bad the my neighbor in the next townhome asked me to do something i had to unplug my fridge at night so i could sleep and not wake the neigbors I called best buy they were great came out the next day ((saturday)) and informed me that the fride needs to be replaced not just a part the entire fridge If you purchase this get the ext warrenty from best buy I did so we shall see what happens If i could change to a new brand I would"

"This has more room than you think it does. It takes a while to adjust to the compartment switch, but once you do, it is a dream. The freezer is HUGE. I wasn't looking for all of the bells and whistles like auto water and ice. (more things to break) This is one of the few nice looking, good performing refrigerator that didn't have the super high price tag just to look classy, not cheap. Way to go, LG. I know it will keep it's "shine" in looks. I expect it to shine on it's job for many years to come."

Stay Away from LGE

"I purchased this fridge over a year ago, and I have had nothing but problems with it. Just after the first year the door handle on the bottom drawer actually broke. Needless to stay the one year warranty was up so I was out of luck. If that wasn't bad enough just this passed month (2 years later) the fridge stop working. The wonderful display now has a fridge reading of ER and a freezer reading of FF. This isn't the first product I purchased from LGE that has had issues (A microwave that has the front panel falling off, and an air conditioner that is awful), however this will definitely be the last LGE product I own. If you value your money you will stay away from LGE."

"Several months into using this refrigerator, I love it more than ever. Having my frig at eye level is great. Everything is so much more visible. The door compartments are large and great to use, yet I have loads of room in the main body of the unit where I can see so much more thru the glass shelves and drawers.
The freezer section holds a lot and is convenient and much better in that lower level.
I had trepidations about the smudging of the brushed stainless, but cleanup with Windex is easy and streak free.
After a lifetime of high freezer compartments, the switch is great and I'm wondering why I waited so long!"

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

"The only two other reviews right now are at opposite ends of the scale: one star and five stars. I understand both. We ordered this and *loved* it for the first few days. Then the temperature started going up. By the time the repair tech had come out (about two days after we called), all of the perishables had spoiled. (Best Buy is reimbursing us for that, and the service call was free, since this happened within 30 days of purchase.) The unit was DOA. This didn't inspire confidence.
We've had the replacement for about a month-and-a-half and are keeping our fingers crossed. The May 2007 Consumer Reports review of refrigerators, in its "recommend and avoid" synopsis, excluded LG because they hadn't been on the market long enough to tell. This made me a little nervous, but I took a chance because the features, the dimensions and the price all fit perfectly for us.
We replaced a 25-year-old fridge. The energy star website said that we would save $930 over five years with this LG model. We bought the extended 5-year warranty, so the most we stand to lose is the cost of the warranty. It bothers me to think that things aren't built to last, though. Refrigerators shouldn't be disposable!!
What I like: It has *much* more space than our old fridge (22.4 vs. 17 cu.ft.) and it feels very spacious. I love the large capacity shelves on the door (fits a gallon!) and the see-through vegetable drawers. (No more guessing what's in the drawers.) With the bottom freezer model, there's also no more reaching down to get the items we use the most. I wish we'd gotten a bottom freezer unit years ago! We also wanted the quietest unit we could find, and this does a pretty good job with that. Since there's probably no truly silent fridge, we're pretty happy with the noise level of this one. We intentionally avoided getting and ice maker to keep things simpler (less to go wrong) and avoid the extra noise of the ice maker. The stainless looks great and was much less expensive than other comparable brands' stainless models. *If* it lasts, I think we'll be happy with it."
