What's great about it: Everything, good price for such an awesome flanger.
What's not so great: Nothing
This pedal is perfect from its color to its overall sound. I love the different modes it has and I would take it with me anywhere because I trust it. Its also got a five year warranty. You probably won't use it because it is built like a tank. :) It was easy to use and it has endless possibilities as a flanger. Not to mention that this pedal can create smooth chorus tones to hardcore, and edgy flanger tones. And, if you want to beef up your flange just set it to the ultra mode. Gate/pan is preety cool too. You can really get tremolo and slicer effects that will blow your mind. The momentary mode is also good for using the effect during a specific portion of your playing. I still haven't quite figured out the tap tempo but I knew that was going to be a challenge. I don't really need it anyway. If your looking for an intense, low priced flanger, you can't go wrong with the boss bf-3.

What's great about it: awesome, thick flanging sounds
What's not so great: nothing
great, classic flanging sounds to extreme "ultra" flanging sounds, this pedal is very dynamic. very nice, thick sound. you can get tremolo flange and even make it sound like a vibrato/rotary speaker. very cool. it's a boss pedal, so it could survive world war III. tough, metal, rugged construction ready for any gig or tour.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Nothing
The different features allow you to create a very distinctive sound. The regular flanger sounds great and you can take it up a notch with the ultra mode. It sounds fantastic when coupled with a heavy distortion pedal. You can also create tremolo sounds or use slicer effects. I am very happy with it.
