What's great about it: Easy to use, cleans better than anything we've ever used
What's not so great: Wears out with daily use.....we're ordering our third machine in in four years.
"This machine is by far the best machine on the market for cleaning ceramic tiled floors. The scrub brushes clean grout, as well as tile quickly and easily. No mess mixing solutions and the dirty water tank is large enough to accomodate cleaning a large room without having to be emptied."

what a waste of money

What's great about it: i love how it breaks
What's not so great: the whole thing
"This is one of the worst floor cleaners i ever had. First off the scubbers stopped turning, then one of the check valves for the clean water tank broke. not knowing this i filled it up and went to put it on and notice the water everywhere on the floor. then the same thing happen to the soap part. oh and i thought this thing was heated for steam cleaning. Guess that just never worked. and shortly after all that. THE MOTOR WENT BAD.
DONT buy this piece S****"

What's great about it: Works great the first few times
What's not so great: Brushes stop rotating after 4 or 5 uses. And this is my 3rd. I thought the last time it was just a fluke.
"I've bought 3 of those, just because I had parts from the prior machines. This and the last machine broke after just several months, the brushes stopped rotating. the first machine stopped picking up solution. I trusted Hoover for a quality machine but three broken machines in just over 2 years? Save yourself the problems, buy something else."

Great-- Until it Broke

What's great about it: Easy to Use
What's not so great: Poor Quality Construction
"This cleaner worked great-- twice. It was easy to operate and did a good job at cleaning; I was thrilled. On the third use, the brushes wouldn't work. I learned that the mechanism that makes them turn needed to be replaced and would cost around $100. I learned from the repair people that this is a very common problem in this machine. I spent close to $300 dollars to clean my living room...twice."

What's great about it: Cleans Deeper than those Professinal cleaner who charge $75.00/rm
What's not so great: Nothing
"I bought this machine and used it on my whole house. The dirt that came up after I had vacuumed the whole house with my kirby I brought up so much dirt. This really cleans and using the Pet Performance detergent it even prevents stains.
My friends just had there carpets cleaned by the professionals that come in with there steam cleaners. I went over the next day and did there dining room. The dirt I pulled up was enough for my friend to go right out and buy the Hoover Dual V Spin scrub 7412-900 carpet cleaner. My friend spent over $500.00 to have his carpets cleaned. I spent $230.00 and got a much superior cleaning and carpet protection. Do not have hard wood floors bu understand you need an attachment to use it properly but it is well worth it."

"It states all over the box that it's great for hard wood and rugs - 'all terrain'. What is not on the box is that you have to buy the attachments seperately for hard wood floors.
I will never buy a Hoover product again. Wrote to the company and some middle man public relations company sends me a cut and paste reply. Nothing from the company."

Cheapest Expensive Carpet Cleaner Ever

What's great about it: Nothing is great.
What's not so great: Plastic wheel propeller broke during the first use and the brushes no longer turned.
"First use - I cleaned an area rug and then began the first bedroom. About 10 swipes in, the brushes stopped moving. I took them out, cleaned them, and popped them back in. Easy enough, right? Not so much. After puzzling over their lack of movement for a few minutes, I realized that the plastic device that propels the brushes had snapped like a twig. Allow me to reiterate that this was my FIRST USE of the machine. I followed the directions meticulously to ensure that the machine would last a long time - especially at this price - and that just didn't work out.
I bought this machine after purchasing the higher rated,comparably-priced Bissell. However, when I tried to put the Bissell together there were no screws and half of the attachments were missing. The box was completely unopened so this was a factory error, then the customer service rep implied that I stole the screws. Seriously? Hopefully my third time will be the charm. I would really like to clean my carpets."

Bad news for carpet cleaning companies

What's great about it: ease of use, overall weight, visual feedback, good looking, deep cleaning, vacuums wet very well
What's not so great: it is not a steam cleaner
"I have bad news for carpet cleaning companies! Most likely they already know. I used their services and paid 150 -250 dollars for each service and it was not so great experience.
I have a 2 year old very busy boy, a German Shepherd Dog and light color carpeting %90 of the 5 bedroom house. I researched the internet and bought this product. The result was amazing. The stains are gone. The rooms are fresh and look very clean.
The only drawback is that it is advertised as a steam cleaner and it is not. Nevertheless, I find this product as an excellent addition to my home appliances. It is worth every penny spent.
I strongly recommend this product to every one in the market for carpet cleaners."

Well Worth the Money

What's great about it: Done an excellent job on all carpets, hardwood and ceramic tile. Dries quick.
What's not so great: Hope clear plastic parts stand the test of time. All similar models seem to be made up of same materials though.
"So far this machine has worked great on everything. Disgusting what you see in the dirty water. Only thing I'm weary about is the cheap looking clear plastic parts. Afraid if I lend this out to someone it'll come back broken."

What's great about it: cleans very well and dries fast.
What's not so great: Had to pay a lot more than I wanted to and spend too much time to and from local store.Too much plastics.
"I had originally purchased the 7412-900 model, because all I needed was a carpet cleaner but when it arrived broken I had to travel to my local store and ended up purchasing a more expensive model - the all terrain cleaner - 7452-900. Well I used it immediately on my living room carpet and I must say I'm pleased. THERE ACTUALLY WAS NO STEAM but the heat from the motor probably helped in leaving the carpet much cleaner and drier than I expected. I,m especially clean with the way the high traffic areas looked afterwards, the carpet got a new life. I will continue to use it and if there 're any surprises I will update."

"I bought this item last week and immediately had buyers remorse. What was I doing spending so much money when I already have a perfectly acceptable Bissell Green Machine? I decided that rather than packing it back into my compact car, I would put it together and give it a whirl. Well, my wood floors that I mopped only yesterday were scrubbed, and you should have seen the dirty water! I decided to clean the living room carpet after that. It was so easy! My back always hurt after using the Bissell Green Machine. This is nothing like that! The carpet looks great, and I plan to clean it and scrub the wood floors much more often. Boy, am I glad I gave it a shot. Well worth the money!"

What's not so great: poor construction
"I've had my cleaner for almost 2 years. It is excellent at cleaning carpets, especially stains. However; it is made of very poor plastic. On the back where you wrap up the cord it is brittle and breaking. I have to remove the hose completely to keep it from falling off the unit. I'm very disappointed in the durablity of this unit and would not buy another one."

Fantastic Steam Cleaner

What's great about it: Cleans extremely well
What's not so great: Poor fitting water tank, very noisy
"I had my third bissell steam cleaner die a horrible death, so I decided to purchase a hoover.
Overall, this is the absolute best purchase I made - very sturdy construction. Everything came out much cleaner than with the bissell. An added advantage is that every part - including the brushes can be easily removed and replaced.
The only negatives I have, the water tank doesn't fit in quite as well as I would like. It needs to click into place and if it doesn't, water leaks out. Also, the noise level is a bit high."

A Little Dissapointed...

What's not so great: After 1st use-had finished 1 bedroom, it would not turn back on!
"We got a used Hoover steam vac from a garage sale years ago, and loved it! However after a few years it became more expensive to fix then what we wanted to spend so we decided to buy a new one. We take it home, excited, sure it would work even better than our old one, but we used it for one room, turned it off to empty the water compartments, and it had no power and would not turn back on. :-( Very dissapointed! I took it back to Best Buy, and got a new one, no problems, but just the hassle of having to stop in the middle of cleaning to exchange. Hopefully this one works better, and we don't have any problems with it! Over all though, from our previous experience, it's a great steam cleaner, and is worth every cent paid!"

What's great about it: Cleans laminate/linoleum/carpet well.
What's not so great: Not the best option if you have lots of tile/grouted floors
"We bought this yesterday. It did not take very long to put together. We used it to clean the kitchen and bathroom floors (linoleum and tile) with good results. The tile floors get clean but they don't get dried as well as the linoleum due to the grout lines. However, a quick wipe after and no problems. The machine will leave a line of dirty water on the floor after you shut it down so you may want to put an old towel under it when you turn it off.
MANUAL SPECIFICALLY RECOMMENDS USING ANY DETERGENTS OTHER THAN THOSE MADE BY HOOVER WILL DAMAGE THE MACHINE AND VOID ANY WARRANTIES. Keep this in mind. Name brand Oxyclean will mess it up.
I had no problems with the clean/dirty water tanks or using the attachments after reading instructions carefully.
You do need to clean the machine after each use for best results. Particularly the handtool and hose attachment. Run clean water down the hose to get excess dirt off or I imagine it will build up over time effecting performance and possibly causing a smell.
Only reason I give 4 our of 5 stars is that this is a BIG bulky machine and does require some TLC to work properly."

What's great about it: Cleans carpets very well, seperate soap, clean, and dirty water resevoirs
What's not so great: Price, hose is a pain to manage sometimes
"Overall I'm happy I bought this cleaner. It cleans carpets really well, with good suction to pull the water out of the carpets. Seperate water resevoirs for soap, clean water, and dirty water are a plus -- I didn't think I'd appreciate them as much as I did. Haven't tried the hard-floor cleaning yet but works like a champ for carpets.
On the down-side, the hose and accessories are somewhat cheaply attached to the back, and the hose doesn't stay coiled nicely under some circumstances. I wish they had a better way to manage all that. The price is a little steep as well, but if you can afford this unit I don't think you'll be disappointed. I read on some other websites that many people had problems with some little thing here and there breaking, so we bought the Best Buy service protection plan, but haven't had to use it yet. (knock on wood!)"

What's not so great: There is no "steam" to it, hard to put fill tank back in, leaky
"I should have gotten the Bissel. This cleaner does alright on cleaning but more from your own efforts than its. There is no heating element. You add the hot water. The water/detergent fill tank is hard to position so that it locks in place and generally leaks as you are trying. I was attracted to the fact that it had a separate tank area for clean water/solution and one for waste water, but its sad that that has become the only thing I like about it. It cleans alright if you don't mind the hassel, but considering how much this thing costs, its not worth it."

"I did not find it hard to assemble. There is a quick start sheet packed with it that I thought was very clear. It took me about 10" to set it up. I did the carpet where pet stains were. It worked well getting rid of the stains and pulled a lot of dirt out of the carpet. The water in the collection tank was absolutely filthy! I do recommend reading the manual about how to put the water and cleaning solution in and how to set the controls as well as actual use on the carpet. I did this and had no trouble or issues whatsoever with the product."
