"I purchased my Cabrio washer 1/4/2007 about a month ago I started getting an F-1 error when I start my washer, in researching the internet it appears that the F-1 error code is common on this washing machine, and also found that this was a recall item with these washing machines. When I called the customer support department at Whirlpool regarding the problem, the person who was helping me was extremely rude she advised that yes this is a problem with the washing machines but mine was not part of the recall. When I asked why, she could not give me an answer other then the serial/model number on my washing machine was not listed on the recall. Even though the recall was for the same exact problem I was having. I am extremely unhappy with my washer, whirlpool and the customer service department. I would NOT purchase this washer as it is probably break down in 3 years or less and the manufacturer will not stand behind their product"

What's not so great: This machine has a terrible computer system
"It's state-of-the-art, looks great, and is a monster pain in the butt. Never really cleaned that great. After 2 and a half years, it developed an error code in the computer board that Whirlpool knows about but won't stand behind. I was welcome to purchase one for $368 that might solve the problem."

Love this machine

What's great about it: This machine can handle extra large loads, reducing my time spent doing laundry.
What's not so great: smaller loads do get tandled, however with fulls you don't run into this problem.
"I wanted a larger washer and drying to handle the clothes of my growing boys. I love it's ability to waash 1 1/2 times of what my previous machine did. You do need to run this machine with a full load or some clothes will get tangled, which is an adjustment from a smaller washer. Washing time is about 50 min. per load but the added 5 min. is well worth the capacity the machine can handle. This top loader HE machine saves additional money by not having to buy a pedatal as wiith other HE front loading machines. Thiis a great machine for growing families with lots of laundry to do."

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Tangles Clothes, Takes a long time per cycle
"After 7 months of use, I do not recommend this washer. Larger loads tangle clothes and cause wrinkles that won't come out in dryer. IClothes also tear from spin cycle. If change from pockets gets under basket need to call for repair can not remove it yourself. Loads take an exceptionally long time. (Small loads don't go any quicker.) Tried adjusting to different settings to avoid tangles but then clothes don't spin out completely and dryer cycle takes longer. Overall I'd find another washer."

What's great about it: Clothes are not as wet before going into the dryer
What's not so great: Terrible value due to repair record
"Against my husband's advice, spent $800 thinking this would last as long as our previous Whirlpool, over 10 years. Just days under the 1st year warranty expiration, the control panel went out. Waited days for warranty repair, then 2 weeks to have the part "made." 3 weeks at the laundromat. Now, exactly 1 year later, the display reads LF and water won't fill after the lid locks. Whirlpool graciously said they'll pay only for another control panel, but first I have to pay ($80) for a diagnostic visit, then pay for any repairs other than the $400 control panel. What to do? Buy another washer (non-Whirlpool)????"

What's great about it: Able to do large loads
What's not so great: Alot of problems!!!
"After buying this in 2007, I have had nothing but problems. The pump broke down within 3 months and had to wait 2 weeks for the part to come in. Then it broke down right before it was a year old. In the past couple months, it have seen the "F51", "LD", "LF" on the control panel. Would never buy another one of these again. I thought I was getting a good product, but it has given me nothing but problems!!!! Do no buy!!!!"

What's great about it: Easy to use controls, whites come out WHITE, quiet operation
What's not so great: Clothes knot constantly, chronic out of balance problems
"After spending over $900 total for the machine and delivery, I was hoping for a machine that was going to give my money's worth. This was not the case. If you wash anything, and I mean ANYTHING with straps, you are guaranteed to have a knotted ball to untangle when the cycle is complete. To make matters worse, this knotted ball is likely to throw your washer out of balance. If you wash things like lightweight pants (with long legs), you may get tangled loads. Sheets tangle. If you attempt to wash 2 full size blankets (plenty of room for them) they will not clean, you STILL have to wash them one at a time, despite the large capacity claims. This washer does take the HE products, and I use them. After reading the previous ratings, I find I am not alone."

What's great about it: Leaks, Loads of Problems... Lemon!
What's not so great: Leakage... rusting, Control Panel Problems, Line and Pump Breakages
"We've had six repairs in under 23 months. Our Cabrio was declared a LEMON... Thankfully, we purchased the store's protection plan. Within the first year we had the control pannel, tub and bleach line replaced. The second year it started to leak.... Lots of problems getting parts in, then scheduling service to make repair. Not good when leaking water."

What's not so great: I paid over 800 dollars for this machine and now just over a year later it constantly displays the F4 code
"What a waste of 800 bucks. I have had this machine just over a year and it keeps displaying the F4 code. Its going to cost me 75 dollars just to have a repair person come to my house and God knows how much more to fix it. I am extremely unhappy and intend to contact the better business bureau regarding this worthless machine. An appliance this expensive should NOT be malfunctioning after one year!"

What's not so great: had to replace curcuit board after only a year
"After spending over $800.00 for this washer I exspected to get alot of carefree use out of it .But After only a little over a year the curcuit board had a short causeing it to stop and display the F4 code. I had to pay $388.00 to have it fixed.The board alone was $260.00."

What's not so great: Noise, performance and repairs
"From the second washer load we knew there was a problem. The tub made so much noise that we had to close the door to be heard in the adjacent room. It can not do more than one sheet without making noise and frequently going off balance.
Whirlpool authorized the tub and drive shaft replacement once already and we are getting ready to call for a repair again.
New technology is nice but bringing it to market before it functions correctly not good business. I can not recommend this machine to anyone friend or enemy. Nor will I consider a like machine in the future.
I have been in contact with Whirlpool and their policy does not cover replacing nor credit toward another Whirlpool machine. So I am forced to put up with what I have."

"I guess they just don't make things the way they used to. I paid a lot for this washer and expected years of trouble free washing. In just a little over a year, machine needs repair.....stops in mid cycle and gives an error message. I would not buy this product again."

"I would like to say this machine is great I have had no complants as of yet. It is a green machine as in eco freindly. It cleans cloths even very soiled ones very well. It has a large capacity. and the spin cycle is the best if you use the top speed the clothes are almost dry when you pull the out. I do recommend you read the instruction manuel before you use this machine so to fully understand all of your options . also a big plus as the motor only has three (3) moving parts so less change of parts wearing out or breaking."

What's great about it: easy to use when it works
What's not so great: motor sensor board went out 4 times in less than 2 years
"I bought this item less than two years ago, and have had to have it repaired 3 times in a year and a half. I am truly thankful for having bought the extended best buy warranty. If I didn't have the warranty I would still be stuck with a machine that flashed f-51 three months after each repair. If you do decide to purchase this item make sure you get the three year warranty at minimum."

"This washer is wonderful! I was very hesistant to switch form the traditional washer with the agitator but am so glad that I did. After having a top of the line Maytag that went out after only 3 years and was extremely noisy, I cannot be more pleased with the Cabrio. It is very quiet and does a quite thorough job of cleaning the clothes. The load size has cut my laundry in half! The wrinkling that some people have complained about has not been an issue unless I leave the clothes sit overnight before putting in the dryer. All of the settings make washing brainless, but they are easy to override should you choose to. My next purchase will be the matching dryer."

"This washer is great its quiet and it has a cool locking features to ensure your clothes from tosing all over. Design on this machine is nice it looks and works high end. Since this machine has so many cycles it takes a while to wash your clothes but its well worth the wait because your clothes come out clean and fresh."

"I've only had this machine about a week now and I'm just ECSTATIC with it's performance. I've taken the last week to test every setting this washer has available. I've washed small loads (only one or two pieces), LARGE bulky loads (more than 3 blankets) and everything in between. It is well worth EVERY cent spent!! (ps: we also bought the matching dryer. There are NO COMPLAINTS that machine either!!!)"
