Are there better sounding systems out there? Yes. Are there better sounding systems of this size? No.
Bose speaker systems deliver an excellent compromise between size/style and sound. Dont get me wrong, these speakers sound excellent. They have the tremendous power and sound quality that you'd expect from Bose. They do exactly what I wanted - to provide premium sound in my living room without obtrusive speakers.
People often complain that there are better sounding speakers. But you cant compare apples to oranges. Of course a pair of floor standing speakers for $1000 will sound better than these. But that's not the point of this system. If you're looking for great sound in a compact setup, then you won't find anything better than these.
Setup was a breeze. Everything was color coded and labeled clearly. I'd say it only took about 30 minutes.

I am neither a tech savvy nor an audio professional, but these BOSE speakers are AWESOME for gaming. Installation was fairly easy once I bought the speakers wall mounts. What is so awesome… Superior sound quality, voices, special effects in game music (MW Fans… Footsteps sound like if they are in your room) Did some testing with HALO 3, Gears 3, Ace Combat 7 and MW3… OMG!!! EPIC
The construction of the speakers is of high quality and the sub woofer is very powerful. The BOSE Acoustimass 10 features 4 “double” speakers that swivel in order to achieve maximum surround effects. You will need a receiver, I chose Yamaha RX-V371 because of the HDMI capability and due to the fair price (although the remote is a little ugly and has a ridiculous amount of buttons) Also, is iPhone/iPod ready thru USB.
Installation, piece of cake… If your TV is a newer model, you can connect a single HDMI from the receiver to the TV and all other connections to the receiver (DVD, Apple TV, Cable Box, XBOX etc). This setup is fantastic for those who run cables inside the walls. Then, turn the TV on and switch the source directly from the receiver.
Connections to the sub woofer are not challenging as they are color coded and the open wire end is marked for your convenience, if you’re organized with cables keep it neat because BOSE is very generous about the cable lenght (you won’t need to buy cable unless you live in a football field)
Overall, this is the best set I have ever owned. If you’re saving to buy a speaker set, make a little bit more effort. There is no possible way to go wrong with this product.

These are great speakers. I have them at home and bought them for my parents a few years back to do their surround sound. For their size, they are hard to beat. Definitely pleased with this purchase!

i bought those speakers to replace my old infinity reference series.
although i was very happy with the infinity...primarely i replaced them because they wre too bulky and i needed the room.i was a bit skeptical about the perfomance of these small size speakers in my large room. they are amazing...clean sound,dialog;music;surround.the subwoofer is superb.defenetly impressed.

I had a 5.1 speaker system of lesser quality and cheaper.
The BOSE speakers are a huge improvement, even more than I expected.

What's great about it: Quality and sound.
What's not so great: Louder sound levels you lose a bit of the presence.
If you are looking for a small non intrusive speaker system that sounds great this is it. If you want loud concert levels at hi fidelity you need to spend a lot more money. I installed this system in my bedroom. It is perfect for listening to music at lower sound levels especially DVD's and Blue Ray's in surround sound. I also use my iPod with them. Need a decent quality amp. You won't be disappointed if you spend the time to install them right.

You won't regret buying these amazing speakers! From crisp, clear highs to groundshaking lows (and i mean groundshaking), these speakers are by far the best I've ever heard. I paired these with an onkyo 509 receiver because I've had great luck out of onkyo products before and I'm very pleased with both of them. The only con to these are they are going to have to have stands and the stands are $100 dollars per pair. You'll need at least one pair.

What's great about it: Best sounding small speakers for movies and games
What's not so great: Need plastic surgery to get the smile off my face.
I have been wanting a Bose Acoustimass system for years. I listened to the Bose haters and initially got a Sony HTIB, then Panasonic HTIB neither lived up to my expectations of home theater. Then I tried the Def Tech 600, and 800, mirage nanostats, and the Klipsch quintet. These were great for music but lacking for movies and video games. I finally went for the Bose Acoustimass 10 with Onkyo 509 and I need plastic surgery to get the smile off my face. I haven't even tweeked the onkyo 509 settings yet. The Bose Acoustimass 10 is the best sounding 5.1 package out there when considering the speaker size. The energy takes sounded very close to the Bose but the speakers are too large for my wife pleasing decor. Of course you could blow the Bose Acoustimass away with decent floor standing speakers and a center channel that requires its own power along with a 1500 watt sub. But you will spending a lot more money and losing living space.

What's not so great: A bit pricey, buy you get what you pay for.
I meant to buy these speakers (equivalent) back in 1996, but the Circuit City salesman talked me out of it and pushed me to buy Infinitys. This time I went to Best Buy and guess what. The salesman tried to pursued me into another brand. Finally, I ignored him and bought them. All I have to say is WOW! The sound is amazing for any size speaker. I just can't imagine how big sound comes from such tiny speakers. It was very easy to setup. It kind of reminds me of setting up my Mac. You can't go wrong with these speakers. I now buy all Bose products.

Amazing quality! Crystal Clean Sound ! i previously purchased Definitive Technology from magnolia in best buys and it felt like the speakers where scared to give out sound so i returned it and got these Bose and im so happy that i did!

THE SPEAKERS ARE MORE THAN YOU CAN ASK FOR, YOU CAN'T TURN THEM ALL THE WAY UP, UNLESS YOU HAVE EARPLUG'S . THE PIONEER RECEIVER VSX-1020 IS GREAT WHICH I GOT AT BEST BUY ALSO. THE RECEIVER DOES 90% AUTO. I HAVE ONE GRIPE, WHEN THE BOSE SPEAKER CAME, A BIG HOLE WAS PUNCHED IN THE SIDE OF THE BOX AND ALL THE FOAM WAS BUSTED THAT WAS AROUND THE SUBWOOFER.THEY NEED TO TAKE BETTER CARE!!!!

What's great about it: Sound quality and that you do to have to buy the whole bose system to enjoy it.
What's not so great: One year later and I still have not found anything I do not like about it.
I have had this Bose system since December of 2009 and it is now Jan. of 2011. I have had plenty of time to try these speakers out. This system still sounds like it did the first time I used it in 2009, FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! If you already have a good receiver and dvd or blue ray player, then do not go get the whole set up of the bose system, just get the Acoustimass 10 and you will NOT be unhappy at all, even a year later!!! One of the best investements I have ever made with any of my entertainment items!

What's not so great: wireing system
My wife and I were looking to get away from our old cerwin vega 12" floor speakers and use cubes in the living room but still wanted big sound and the bose system was capable of that. I knew from experience of 15 years as a car and home audio installer that bose systems would sound good no matter how our living room was setup for speaker placement. I have had to set up many a speaker system that has to be perfectly placed and have the speakers directed correctly to sound good. That one great thing about bose systems. the acoustic characteristics allow for good sound in a room with furniture and less then ideal speaker placement.
What is strange is the wiring system. all wires run in a harness to the sub-woofer from the receiver and then run to the individual speakers. This must be for crossover control of the cube speakers, but is strange and adds a lot of wire.
Our system has been in now for 3 months and works and sounds great.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have a denon amp pushing these with a infinity 10' sub. Bose is top of the line.Put in Jurassic park 3,Star Wars,or anything in Dts it sounds crazy good.
