What's great about it: color, price, style
What's not so great: materials, constuction, scratches very easily
the desk is not that expensive, so you cant expect to have top of the line solid wood contruction. The desk is made of particle board, osb, and cardboard. It looks much nicer than it actually is. I just finished putting together two full desks, with the hutch attatchments (i had to order those from another site, as best buy didnt offer them), as well as the seperate file cabinet. Overall, I am happy with the way they look and feel. Couple of things though.
- Plan to spend a good 3-4 hours assembling per desk, and another couple hours on the hutch. the file cabinet took about an hour. the directions were pretty good. I made a few small mistakes i had to correct.
- check all your pieces for damage out of the box. had one shelf that was crunched on the end. I didnt notice it till the desk was mostly assembled. i can deal with it, but its a little tacky.
- make sure you dont over tighten or hammer too hard, as the particle board will shred or chip. Once of the drawer doors actually fell off after install. the screws were a hair to short and the wood just kind of crumbled. i glued it and rescrewed it with a slightly longer screw, which pokes through the other side slightly. im going to request a new door.
- the top of the desk worries me. it looks nice but just in one day of setting things on it, i can see surface scratches already. i think i am going to try and get glass cut to fit it, otherwise there is no chance it will last.
- i would recommend buying some bead board from lowes or home depot and making your own back to the hutch. The cardboard backing for the hutch looks cheap and you can tell it is a folding piece of paper.

I am not trying to be overly critical. i did a lot of research before buying this desk. i weighed the price vs. real wood desks and it doesnt compair. i think all the issues with the desk are dealable and im happy with the purchase. from a distance, the desk might look like a 2k-3k high end desk, but upon closer inspection, you get what you pay for.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: lots of room
What's not so great: assembly kinda stinks, missing hardware
I am starting law school in the fall and i needed a desk with lots of space...this desk was just what i was looking for. It looks great, seems sturdy, worth the money. I will warn you, the box it is delivered in weighs about 300 lbs. It was quite the project to put together. When my husband and I first opened the box, saw all the pieces and the instruction book we both look defeated. Some of the instructions were a bit tricky to figure out, but we did it in about 3.5 hours. We had to make 2 trips to the hardware store as we were shorted some screws. Tip: take an inventory of all the screws, etc before you start, that way you can make only one trip to the hardware store. Despite some frustration assembling the desk we both really like it. good buy for the money.
I would recommend this to a friend!
