My Maytag Neptune washer died at Christmas and I had to make a new washer purchase and quick! I had family home for Christmas and laundry was piling to the ceiling! I went on consumer reports website, read the reviews for the best front load washers, grabbed my husband and my purse and flew out the door to BestBuy! There I found this LG washer and bought it on the spot. Asked for quick delivery and got it! I gave it quite a workout! My only complaint was the vibration on my upstairs level. I found out that these machines work best on concrete basement floors but I am lucky to have my laundry room on my main floor. Well I did not know how to quiet it down or stop the vibration so after brain-storming with my husband, we decided to go to our local farm supply store and bought a 4' x 6' stall mat which is a very dense rubber mat used in horse stalls for them to lay on and provides an insulating quality. We put it under the washer and my new LG dryer and what a difference that made! MUCH QUIETER and MUCH LESS VIBRATION! I am so happy we decided to do this. The mat cost us $35 and it was so worth the price. My new LG's are now quieter than any other washer or dryer I have had in the past. It is a quick, inexpensive fix. I did not want to send my LG washing machine back. I'm so glad we found the fix...I totally love my new LG washer and dryer!
What's great about it: LG quality is awesome
What's not so great: Vibrates with heavy loads-but I have a solution!

Did I mention I love this machine? I have been using it for about 4 weeks now and it is SO SO worth the money spent. It uses about half as much water as my old top loader, and washes double the amount of laundry. The water savings alone will pay for this washer in 3 years. Not to mention drying times are cut in half when using the high speed spin feature, a load of jeans dried in 20 minutes, I was happily shocked. Everything I have washed has come out AMAZINGLY CLEAN! even set-in stains! It also handles large/bulky items like rugs (small bathroom type), quilts, blankets, sleeping bags and pillows with ease, and the "tub clean" setting cleans it all up real nice. I finally used the "steamfresh" last week on a pair of crushed and crinkled pants, they were a little damp straight from the washer, but hung dry and looked marvelous! I didnt even have to touch an iron to them! I Did not buy the pedestal and excess vibration, even on high spin has not been an issue and I live in a mobile home. This machine shakes my house less than my top loader did. I anticipate many years of continued performance from this machine. Time will tell.
What's great about it: extreme water saver, saves dryer time
What's not so great: if any, higher cost, but worth it.

This machine is one of the best washers that I have ever used. The spin cycle actually dries the load. HOWEVER, it also shakes the entire house (after professional leveling setup by LG contractors several times) to the point where items on the other floors move. It really does not matter how fast the machine spins - all speed cycles are the same. Washer walks across the floor during the spin. Anything on top of the washer vibrates off.
Even though LG states that the technology is OK for an upper floor, the only thing they could offer was to replace the washer with the same model - thus the same problem. The washer now sits on a concrete floor in my daughter's home ... replaced by a SAMSUNG washer/dryer combo with the ANTI-VIBRATION technology. Not only is it as efficient and exceptional as the LG, but it also cannot be heard when it is running through the spin cycle. An unbalanced load immediately is counterbalanced by the SAMSUNG VFT technology.

The trouble began with bleach spots on the next load following a white load. Repair man said these were designed to only use 1 tablespoon of bleach per load. I questioned him at that time as to why the dispenser was large enough to hold more than 1 tablespoon. Also, there is no option to pick load size. The washer will determine that. We have a water softener so I should have an advantage for a cleaner laundry. We went top dollar with the matching set and pedestals. I wish I had my old washer back. Unfortunatley it has been almost a year of this so now we'll go back to Best Buy and try to find a washer that will closely match the dryer, which I totally love, and fit the pedestal.
What's great about it: the matching dryer is awesome!
What's not so great: lots
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After using this washer and it's accompanying electric dryer, I would not purchase any other brand. I will look for LG products for other appliances I might need in the future. Best product I ever used.

OK so this is the coolest washer EVER made! I can't say enough about it... I've never been able to wash super delicates, never been able to fit so many clothes in one load, never had my clothes come out so clean, and never had them smell SO good from the detergent, even weeks later! The only thing I am not super-impressed with is the SteamWash - I guess from the commercials I thought it would just get your wrinkles out and you'd never have to iron again. Well, it works well this way for some things (tshirts, sweaters), but otherwise it pretty much just gets them "fresh" and ready to iron/hang. Nonetheless, I've used this option tons and it does make ironing so much easier! Plus it's a great feature to just freshen up something you haven't worn enough to justify a full washing. :) Oh, and you absolutely HAVE to get a pedestal when you get a front-laoder!
What's great about it: Quiet, large loads, washes everything imaginable, clothes smell good for weeks, tons of settings...
What's not so great: SteamWash function not what I expected, but it works well!

My husband and I were researching washers, as our "old" style just wasn't doing the job we needed. We do approximately 5 loads of laundry each day and needed a washer that was efficient in cleaning and would save on our monthly electric bill. We looked at various reviews, talked with a number of sales personnel, and based on what our family needed elected to purchase the LG wm2487 model. Oh my, what a perfect choice! This machine does it all from sanitizing to full washing! We were concerned because there were some reviews that indicated that there was a mold smell... well we have not experienced this at all. We leave the door open after we've completed our daily loads and we make sure we are using the appropriate amount of detergent! We have saved our selves so much time by purchasing this model and laundry is now alot of fun! Our children even enjoy doing the laundry as it is so user friendly! We have already recommended this LG to a number of our friends! Thanks for making our lives better!

Nice that you can wash larger loads.You can set the timer for the load to start washing at your convience to have the clothes ready to put into the dryer when you wake up or walk in the door from work.
What's great about it: Whites are whiter
What's not so great: Clothes still need pressing after the Steam cycle

Dollar for Dollar, Pound for Pound this is the best washer on the market. Please don't get scared with the cost, it will all be but forgotten with the savings of Water, Energy and time. Plus this machine is one of the best looking on the market.

I could not wait to get this washer going. I love everything about it, the buttons, the lights, and the sweet noise it makes when the laundry is done. I have used every function on this washer and I have not been dissapointed! The steam function is a must for all those dry cleaning items you dont have time to wait for at the cleaners! This is a must buy, well worth the price.

Thought I would never sit and watch a washer, but this one I did. The direct drive motor going clockwise then counter clockwise, using very little water, then the very fast spin cycle were mesmerizing. The using of less water and high spin rates mean less time in the dryer, thus less energy used. The washer is quiet, and easy to level, (as it has to be during the fast spin cycle). The only con is that my big dog is afraid of it. The steam feature has been used a few times by my wife to remove wrinkles and it also works flawlessly. Very happy with this purchase.

This is really a great machine. There is an accessory to this that is not listed, but I think you should consider. You're spending so much on these machines, a little bit more isn't going to hurt and it'll make your life so much simpler. Check out RLM20K. It's a remote monitor that displays the progress of the load with time and cycle status and chimes when the load is done. The combination of these 2 is great. You cannot go wrong with this machine!!

Clothes get super-clean with this washer! I love the sanitary setting with steam for items like bath towels, sheets and underwear...I finally feel like those items are getting clean enough! The pedestals are a welcome addition for storage as well as adding that height eliminating digging for clothes and back pain.
