If I'm not mistaken, I think Resistance was the first game for the PS3. This game is fantastic. Just simply fantastic. I would resist getting Resistance 2 and play the first and then the second because they are both worth all of your attention. There is replay value and entertainment for days. Graphics are great and the storyline is very entertaining. Well worth it, folks.

What's not so great: I can't think of a criticism worth writing about.

I bought this game because I was curious to see what the Resistance franchise was all about. I found out that it's pretty darn impressive, at least for this first title.
This game is just a whole lot of fun to play. I played through the campaign mode with my younger brother, and we enjoyed it. There's replay value because new weapons are unlocked in the next play-through.
I have not played the multiplayer part, but I've read other reviews saying that there are still a lot of people playing this game online even though it's been out for about four years.
The controls may seem a little iffy if you're used to CoD, but you can customize each button instead of having to stick with pre-set button layouts only, which is great. The game does have several pre-set button layouts, but if none of them seem to work for you, just create your own.
The campaign is pretty long. The developers were very creative with how you progress through the main story, the enemies, and the weapons and grenades - they're a lot of fun to play with.
Overall, this is a great game. It's a lot of fun when you play it with a friend.

This is another great PS3 game- it's no Modern Warfare 2, of course- but it's a great game for PS3!

This is a horrible game don't waste your money. The game has no enjoyment at all, buy COD or Battlefield.

Resistance; Fall of Man is a must have PS3 shooter. The graphics are great and detailed to mix in perfectly with the story, and the gunplay and having the option to play alongside your family and friends make for one extremely fun PS3 exclusive. Some shooters now a days aren't so fresh or feel like you've played them a lot before, but this is not one of those, I am happy to say. Resistance: Fall of Man feels fresh and new, what you would want in great shooter. The controls are very easy to grasp and you don't have to be a pro to learn everything about the gameplay. Here is my overview on this game:
Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay: 9.2/10
Fun: 9.3/10
Overall: 9.2/10
What's great about it: Extremely fun, cool weapons, story, must have shooter
What's not so great: none

Still a good FPS. Price is ok, the variety and design of weapons is spectacular and you can carry a very large number of weapons that will help you all around the game. Action is quite intense and the game will keep you busy at all times. Checkpoints are not quite frequent so if you lose you will have to start all over again, making the game quite compelling for good or bad (I enjoyed it, but some guys did not). Coop is amazing and makes the game quite more easy to defeat. You believed or not, I enjoyed more than Resistance 2. Even so there is evident differences with call of duty and killzone 2, so the game deserves a solid 3. No 4, sorry, but what you will get with this one woth the 29.90. And will keep you gessing how good is R2. Enjoy.
What's great about it: Good price, solid gaming, weapons, coop mode
What's not so great: old game, first one from insomniac

This was my first game for the Playstation 3 and provided plenty of fun. However now that I have the sequel, I simply can't play this one. Insomniac did an incredible job with the sequel, upping the ante in every way. The only downside of that is now the first one just can't compete. That doesn't mean it's bad, it just has been greatly improved with the sequel. That said, plenty of people still play online and it can still provide plenty of hours of fun. So if you want a new game but can't afford a new $60 game, Resistance 1 would be a great choice.
What's great about it: Fun and unique weapons, lag-free 40 player multiplayer.
What's not so great: After playing the sequal for a substantial amount of time, everything about this one looks and feels outdated.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was my first game for PS3 (got it 2 days ago) and I can not get enough of it. The controls are a little awkward at first but anything takes time to learn. I was still surpised to see that so long after the release date (and with the sequel out already) there is still a very active online community for this game. I would definitely pick it up!
What's great about it: A lot of of fun to play, good story...
What's not so great: Not much at all... depends on if you like shooters

This game deserved the praise it received when it was first released as it was one of the best PS3 games available AT THE TIME - however if you're looking right now for a first person shooter there are others out there that are easily superior.
The game play iitself is pretty basic FPS and overall it is solid. The single player story mode is of good length and it is definitely a fun play.
My biggest issue with the game was the difficulty curve. On the default difficulty settings, the fist 85% of the game is far too easy. I was going from level to level with ease and rarely dying at all. However, when I got into the last 3 or 4 levels, the game became impossibly hard. Not only was it extremely difficult but the save points got very spaced out so that dying caused me to have to replay huge chunks of the game over and over again. Even though I had fun along the way, toward the end of the game I just wanted it to be over as it was becoming very frustrating and repetitive playing the same extremely difficult parts of the game over and over again.
Another thing that caused the game to start getting boring was the lack of bad guy diversity. The aliens in the game are cool enough but you fight the same basic foot soldier type though the entire game and there are only 4 or 5 different types that you see consistently. While there are a couple of impressive boss-type characters throughout the game there aren't really any outstanding or memorable boss battles.
This game is sometimes being included when you buy a PS3 (that's how I ended up with it) and if that is the case its a great game to get basically for free and you should definitely play it. However, if you are looking for a new game there are several first person shooters that have come out since this game that would be more worthwhile.
What's great about it: Fun gameplay, good price, decent length
What's not so great: awkward balance of difficulty, somewhat repetitive

I have to say for one of the first games that came out on the PS3 its awesome. Its holding me down till other games come out that I am looking forward to. Its very fast pace, non stop action. Its one of those games that you can not expect the unexpected. These creatures just pop out, out of nowhere. Now the AI sucks when helping you during battle. Its seems not only do you have to lead but have to pretty much do everything as well. I do like the fact that your health regenerates pretty quickly. The co-op is pretty cool as well. So would suggest purchasing this game.
What's great about it: The Non Stop Action
What's not so great: AI

got this game xmas of 2007. no matter how many new games i get i always default to this game for a good time.
good things...stats ranking system online, always trying to get more stuff is addictive. weapons...variety of different types keeps gameplay going. simplicity of aiming...crosshairs right on screen (no aiming down the sight like COD series) campaign is short but many different types of missions/levels. very dedicated online community (same players daily)
bad things...lagging online (older game, just isnt maintained like it should be) you shoot a person i 1hit matches you have to unload to kill them. very frustrating at times.
What's great about it: great replay value, weapons, online
What's not so great: lagging online, doesnt always register your experience points online

Resistance: Fall of Man is an A grade game. The multiplayer storymode just makes the game one of the best. The weapons are unfortunately fake, but are cool. Sony could of have made better graphics, but since it was one of the PS3 games, you have to make an exception. The storyline, the creepiness of the monters, and the setting make it a suspenseful, intersting, and very fun game. A great buy! A must get!
What's great about it: Interesting storyline, the monsters, multiplayer

I have had this game since 2006 and I still love to play the story mode and online. It’s fun. R2 was a big disappointment for me.. not as good as R1.

I think that this is a fun game. The graphics could be better but since it is one of the first games out for the ps3 I understand. Overall I would recommend it to a friend but call of duty 4 or world at war are better.

Since this is one of the first ps3 games out I understand that it doesn't have the best graphics. The gameplay is fun especially co-op. Worth buying.

Resistance has excellent graphics, and is a really fun game when you play with a friend in co-op, or online. The game is a plain and simple first person shooter. Give it some credit being that it was one of the first Playstation 3 games out. If your into an easy sci-fi game, and your easily entertained this game is perfect for you.
The co-op and online featuers are the only great points the game has, and still the geame doesnt need you to really work together. Also the controls are good, typcial first person shooter controls.
What's great about it: Co-op play, online play
What's not so great: No replay value, and to easy
