"Purchased this product over a year ago. So far so good, the only problem is that somehow I misplaced the remote and have purchased several universal remotes and cannot program the remotes to operate the DVD player."

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: Short playing life tends to over heat
"This product tends to over heat, it has a short playing life of 30 to 90 days and it jams dvds and won't open, and it finally won't read disc when it quits."

What's great about it: Cheap
What's not so great: It didn't work
"Purchased it because standard DVD players will be obsolete next week and didn't want to pay anything more than I had to. Set it up and inserted a disk... could hear the disk rubbing on sometihng on the inside and nothing would load onto the screen. Then it would not eject my disk. Had to unplug it and then plug it back in and frantically hit the eject button. Can't comment on the quality of the picture or sound because it never worked. Returned and paid a little extra for a name brand player."

What's great about it: Price?
What's not so great: Doesnt play
"Purchased this DVP on the recommendation of the sales associate. Looking for a player that plays disc from other regions. Purchased player before purchasing discs.
Received "cannot play this region" message on the player. Although the player did not cost much, the DVDs did! Make sure if you are looking to make multi region player purchase that the information is accurate."

What's great about it: the picture quality was fine
What's not so great: it stopped working after three months
"This product stopped working after 3 months and during the three months that it worked it would randomly stop reading discs. I was told that dvd players are pretty much the same and so went with the cheapest I could find. I would not buy this or any Insignia product again and will stick with the more well known brands.
It was easy to use and the playback quality was fine."

What's great about it: Price (and you get what you pay for).
What's not so great: Noise, stuttering.
"This player is awful. It's price is its only recommender and you really do get what you pay for. (i.e. A cheap product.) In no situation would I recommend this player to anyone.
Surprisingly, the player came recommended by a sales guy because I have an old TV and didn't need something fancy. The setup and install were par for the course (i.e. not hard) for a DVD player. As soon as I started using it, I was astonished by how loud the drive spin is. The noise subsided a little, so I thought it might have gotten rattled in shipping and just needed to settle in.
Boy, was I wrong. After a few days, the spin of the disc is now roughly as loud as a food processor or blender--it easily drowns out the dialogue on the movie being played and is completely insufferable. Moreover, two freshly bought, completely unscratched DVDs played with several stutters and hiccups in parts.
I am returning this product tonight and going with a more reputable brand."

What's great about it: Absolutely nothing
What's not so great: Didnt' work straight out of the box
"Bought one of these last night. Guess you shouldn't expect much for the price but you do expect it to work. The one on display at my local Best Buy had a broken DVD door, but I figured "hey, floor model, someone broken it". Unfortunetly, I bought one anyway. Got it home, plugged it in and guess what, the door wouldn't open. Pressed open/close on the remote, it would hum, not open, then display "no disc" on the screen. Yeah, no kidding. Took it back to Best Buy, got my money back and purchased a name brand item that could be trusted. Don't waste your time on this cheap piece of junk."

great DVD player for a dorm

What's great about it: small, easy to pack up and move
What's not so great: doesn't last the full 4 years of college - will probably need to get a replacement half way though
"good DVD player, was reliable for about 2 years and that's with being moved around from room to room and used almost daily. wish it had lasted me my whole college experience but for the price 2 years wasn't bad."

What's great about it: Simple to set up, compact design, intuitive remote
"I bought one of these to accompany my projector for playing large screen movies at my home and at friends homes. The price is fantastic, and the size is perfect. I don't read manuals, and this was as simple as it gets to operate. The remote is very intuitive, there's no crazy surprises, and it works just like it should. I liked it so much that I bought one for my daughter for college."

What's great about it: Easy to use, and cheap
What's not so great: only lasted a few months
"I guess you shouldn't expect too much from a dvd player this cheap, but you'd at least expect it to last for a while. Obviously this is a pretty basic dvd player. It played movies and did it's job. Then after just three months it died. the light was on but nobody was home. Spend a little extra money and get a dvd player that will last until they become totally obsolete."

"I bought this a little voer a month ago. It is cheap, easy to set up, but the sound went out last week. I thought maybe it was just the cords, so I bought new AV cords. Nope, it just doesn't work. Now I have to go and return it. What a waste of time."

"I only had this DVD player for about 5 months before it stopped working properly. It constantly freezes up and gives me an "Unknown Disc" message when I put in DVDs. Legitimate DVDs, not burned copies! It's incredibly frustrating. Spend a little extra money and get something that will last longer."

"This dvd player had a hard time playing burned content and after about a year it stopped working altogether. The batteries in the remote exploded, not sure if it was because of the cheap batteries that were included or the remote.
Will never buy another Insignia product again."
