awesome quality at a great price

What's great about it: they sound great, low price, comes with everything you need
What's not so great: the cords are a little short
"these speakers are great. I got them to add a little better quality to my room setup. I was blown away by the sound quality. The highs are very clear, and it has a good bit of bass, more than I expected. The cords for the front speakers are a little short but long enough. The matrix feature is what makes the system for me, it turns stereo into 5.1 surround(or replicates it). Without this I would have no use for the rear speakers, This is b/c the sound card on my computer is stereo, so this feature is great. you will not be disappointed by these speakers, they are very good quality and are at a price that cannot be beat."

What's great about it: price, sound, compatiblity, quick and easy setup
What's not so great: pod center not wireless
"For the money i cant imagine how anyone could give this product less than excellent ratings unless they are doing something wrong.
I integrated this sound system into my HDTV, PS3, and desktop pc. I watch dvds, play pc games, listen to music, and watch tv all through these speakers (in my bedroom). As long as you have one RCA cable, its a breeze connecting everything. Within 5 mins I had everything up and running perfectly.
The sound that is produced for each aspect of what i use it for is excellent. Music, gaming, movies, tv, etc. The bass is very very solid. The mid-high range is good enough for me. Obviously if you pay more you will get higher quality - but there really is nothing that beats this system until you get to the 200-250$ range.
The speakers can be wall mounted very easily. The center speaker can easily be mounted on top of a flat screen tv. I really dont have any complaints about this product, except the lil pod center. I dont know why its not wireless, but otherwise this is the best purchase you can make for a pc sound system in this price range. And again, I use it as an all in one entertainment center with my hdtv/ps3/pc/etc, and it definitely delivers."

What's not so great: well if you turn it up to much it destorts
"i hade the system for about a year and 3 weeks in me buying it the left front speaker wentout the cord that hooks up in the back and the cord that hooks to your computer/tv isnot good if anything it might even bee the jack on the sub that went out but i mean you get what you pay for. i keep useing it and i got rid of the speaker because it didnt work. but now im going to get a SONY BRAVA system it is way better"

"Very impressed with the quality and value of this product. Can't really find another 5.1 system for this price. Satisfied for over a year now. All of my games, music, and movies sound great on it. Highly recommend this product to anyone who wants an awesome sounding system for an excellent price.
If it had optical out it would easily be overkill"

"I purchased a set Logitech X-540 speakers while deoplyed to Iraq to put in my gun truck. Now I know you are saying, "wait these are computer speakers, not speakers for a vehicle." For anyone who has ever been in the service we all know military vehicles do not have any kind of sounds systems in them. So by taking a power converter and hooking it up to the gun trucks battery we were able to plug the speakers in that way for a power source. All that was needed then was to take the supplied audio cable and plug it into the headphone jack on your mp3 player. The volume these speakers put off is amazing. Lound engin,gun fire, these speakers were still able to be heard nice and clearly. A year and a half later these speakers are still kicking just as they were on day one. Rolling down the streets of Iraq or sitting at your computer at home you will not be disappointed!"

What's great about it: Excellent sound quality, Compact speaker and subwoofer size.
What's not so great: Some cords are a little short.
"These speakers have amazing sound quality and are pretty compact so you can easily find a place for all of them, including the subwoofer. If you don't have a HD sound card you can't experience the full quality of the system, but the matrix button on the sound controller will evenlly disperse the sound to all speakers if you don't have a HD sound card. Some of the cords are just a little short so if you have a huge desk it might require some careful planning of where everything is going to go. Outstanding price for a premier sound system."

"Before buying these speakers I looked at reviews here at Best Buy and New Egg. I was prepared to need RCA extension cables, so I knew it going into the purchase. Well for my setup I did not need the extension, I was quite surprised. The sound is nice, the bass is very decent, and a cinch to setup. The center speaker has a clip on it so it can sit atop Flat Panel monitors."

""I purchased this product to get more boom out of my laptop (euphemism), & to use for gaming (360). I really like the fact that your able to easily attach the center speaker to a flat-panel. The rear wires are a bit short depending on how you tend to setup your room (you may need to get extensions). I use the virtual mode to connect my laptop & 360 (you will need a 3.5mm splitter if you wish to not have to manually change the wires every time you fire one or the other up).
All-in-all what I use this product for it gets 5 stars for under a buck (100$) you'd be hard pressed finding anything better. In the under a buck range your looking at extremely cheap HTiB which don't even have any AUX inputs. Sure as heck won't be SP/DIF or even RCA. Long story short if your looking for a new sound system for <100$ this really is the ''only'' real option. I only need to bring the volume to around a 1/3 then I'm happy. YMMV. Don't let the wattage fool you, many people think more= better. It's not that simple.
For someone starting out & wanting to enjoy 5.1 for under a buck you can't go wrong.""

What's not so great: crackling sound no matter what I play music or michrophone. due to low quality
"I've owned this speaker system for 2.5 years. Until recently i've heard no crackling sounds. even if I increase the volume or lower it, use a microphone or play music, it crackles. It has an excellent frequency response and great dynamic range. I might be doing something wrong?"

"I bought these speakers as a birthday present for my brother who is very big into gaming on our home computer. I actually installed them and am not usually so good at those sorts of things but the installation was so easy to follow. The sound quality is fantastic. I can hear them two rooms over when he plays video games. I highly recommend these to anyone even if you're not into gaming. I just turn them on for the sound even if I'm not watching videos etc."

"I recently bought the Acer H233H for gaming on my Xbox 360 and the speakers just don't sound that great on it. (i knew this before buying and it's still worth it ) So i've been looking for cheap, good quality speakers and this product is the answer. It's easy to hook up, can get pretty loud while holding clarity, comes with the adapter for console use, and features the matrix mode which is actually quite cool. I do admit that the cords are a bit short but they worked well for me."

Make sure to buy online with store pickup for the discount or take printout of web price to store to get web discount. Sound is great with this set. What's not so great: Cords a tad short, the subwoofer is mounted directly beneath the box so take care picking it up!!!!
"Ive owned this system for about 2 years now since my old computer speakers died on me. I ran off to best buy to find a replacement product that wouldnt burn a whole im my wallet. I've come to love logitech products for quality and bang for you buck but even when i saw these for a hundred bucks i was a bit skeptical. Like i said i have had this system for almost 2 years now and every time i use them i fall in love with them all over again.
Don't let the Cons scare you off, if you have browsed this system while shopping at best buy and still are pondering to purchase them or not, just go already. The sound quality from the 5 surround speakers are crystal, and dont let the small size of the sub speaker (5.5 inch driver) fool you, this system can pump out plenty of bass!
These truly our worth every penny you put into them and even if you have to spend the extra money to extend cords for setup its worth it in the end. My hat goes off to you logitech, you never fail to impress!!!"

"Great sound and nice bass. Perfect for PCs like it was intended.
This product doesn't have a decoder, so its implied that your PC sound card converts it to the 5.1 surround sound. If you want true 5.1 surround sound for a game console or TV, buy a home theater system with a decoder built in (they are much more expensive for that reason). Otherwise, the matrix mode can spread the sound out to the 6 speakers nicely, but it will still only be 2.1 stereo sound."
