What's great about it: Very comfortable, good reception, long battery life, programmable buttons What's not so great: Not exactly worth $100, loose scroll bar.
"Excellent mouse, one of the best available hands-down. Logitech puts terrific quality into their products, I knew I was going to be happy. The back/forward and search buttons are very convenient when web browsing, and I turned the horizontal scroll bar into the volume control. Now I don't even need the fancy touch buttons on my laptop, I can just use the mouse to alter the volume very quickly. There's a lot of options you can program the bttons to do, and they have special preset settings like "game mode" if you don't want to go through each button manually. However, I really don't think this mouse is worth $100; I'd say a better price would be $80. Once in a while it goes on sale for $90 I think, but it's still of phenomenal quality. The only thing I have a hard time getting used to is the middle button/scroll wheel. It's very loose, you can flick it with your finger and it will keep rolling like a bike tire raised off the ground. This makes it hard for me to scroll, because the scrolling on the screen is not as smooth as the wheel turns. But I bet there's some way to change that in the mouse settings, so it's not a big deal really. A BEST BUY FOR SURE."

What's great about it: Very comfortable What's not so great: wireless connection isn't always reliable
"I primarily use this for gaming. It's great for customization of the buttons and set up of macros. The wireless connection however would "stick" from time to time and gets very irritating as it will stop working for 3 seconds or so at a time. If it was a hardwired mouse it would be near perfect."

What's great about it: Easy to use, works on almost any surface, great features, re-chargeable battery, constant connectivity, high quality What's not so great: Slightly Costly
"I bought this mouse for my wife. Besides a beautiful box the mouse itself is a creative piece. My wife liked it along with me. Features like Hyper-scroll, Document flip, Word search are very useful. This mouse has got one of the best ergonomic shape. Smooth to work keys. I read somewhere a review that its search button is not placed correct and user can often click it while scrolling. This was first thing I tried after opening the mouse. Seems like some people don't buy product but like to write reviews by assuming negatively. In fact, the search button is placed at a very right place which makes it easy to use without the need to look for it. Everything in this mouse works perfect. To me the cost was a bit high but when I saw stars in the eyes of my wife it became worth it :)"

What's great about it: Build Quality, Precision Tracking, Scrolling Features, What's not so great: Nothing
"I am not going to write a long review but just know the MX Revolution has changed my computer experience for the better. One helpful hint I can give you is to get as much clean uncluttered surface area on your desk as this will enrich your mouse usage experience. You see the whole ideal of using a mouse pad and being constrained to the surface area of the mouse pad is just so twenty years ago. This thing glides from one area of my desk to another with the ease of nothing comparable. Dude seriously you should buy this. I am buying to give as Christmas presents especially to my relatives with Apples. Because no matter how great of a experience people have with Apples they need to seriously consider their limitations with what they have by using the mice Apple makes."

What's great about it: Easy to use, convenient, and the obvious: no cord
"Having a cordless mouse alone was a near revelation. Adding the fact that this is a laser mouse AND it's ergonomically designed AND it's comfortable and easy to use may have turned my head a little. I was using a traditional, corded mouse that did not even offer the convenience of a scroll wheel, so my view on this product may be skewed. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this product's extensive feature set and durability (it's fallen off the desk on to a hard surface floor several times with no ill effects)."

What's great about it: Features, feel What's not so great: Poor battery life, Fragile, Overpriced
"Product is very fragile. Drop it, it will likely damage the optics. Mine did from a 2 foot drop onto a carpet/padded floor. Rechargeable battery pack does not hold the charge very long. Two hours at best. I wanted fast scrolling and maximum curser moevement with little mouse movement - curser was overly scittish and takes time to master if your good. Side buttons are awkwardly positioned to far forward for any general use. You need to reposition hand when you want to use these buttons, making it uneffective for any production or faster pace use - Becomes annoying after time. Software tends to conflict with operating system at times, freezing the curser. I ran Vista with all the correct drivers and updates. No other mouse has been a problem on my system and have all worked 100% except this one. If you buy it, it's only worth $20-30 bucks at best. You'll get equal performance, and better reliability from other brands in the cheaper price range."

What's great about it: comfortable hold, works well on many surfaces What's not so great: breaks too easily
"I really love this mouse, but I am already on my 2nd broken one! Having the USB stick out so far from the computer makes it to easy to bump or lean on, especially if you move your computer around a lot like I do. If you are careful, then I definitely recommend this mouse. This is my favorite mouse I have ever tried, I just can't afford to keep buying new ones :-("

Great Friggin Mouse!!

By AVITWebfrom Trenton, NJ
What's great about it: Fast, accurate, all of the buttone are programmable. What's not so great: Not the mouse, the software has many quirks. A bit pricey
"This thing rocks! I use it at work for CAD so I basically beat the puss out of it. The battery, even with that abuse, lasts about a week. The only problem I have with it is the software! Setpoint has many options, but as you use it, something weird happens, particularly when it comes to the scroll wheel. All of a sudden, when scrolling and you stop, the view with click back on notch. To get it to stop I have to go into the softare and just hit OK. But then in another hour or so it creeps back up! It would have gotten 5 stars if not for that."

Excellent Mouse

What's great about it: Rechargeable, very comfortable and extra buttons What's not so great: Not for left handers
"Had this mouse for a few days and I love it. Got it for my custom made PC. Set up is simple. Just plug it in and your good. Just download the software afterwards to get the customization options. I got used to this mouse pretty quick. The center scroll wheel is fast so you can easily fly through documents with out a problem. Just flip the wheel and let it fly. The search button is neat. Once you set it up with you're preferred search engine just highlight the word and the search button will open up a window with the matches. The thumb buttons are also nifty. The thumb wheel lets you use Windows Aero on the fly so you can easily flip through your open applications no problem. Then there's the back and forward thumb buttons for internet browsing. Pretty standard and simple. Makes web browsing a bit quicker. Overall, this mouse handles like a champ. It's very precise and it being wireless you got no problems with a cord getting in your way while moving the mouse around. And the big plus with this wireless mouse is that it's RECHARGEABLE. The battery life is very good after charging. Lasts for days with moderate use ( I use my computer for about a few hours each day). If you want a nice mouse with some good features then this is the one for you."

What's great about it: Stylish, Sleek, Flexible, Reliable, and comfortable What's not so great: The cost is pretty high
"The mouse has a sleek design that provides for a very comfortable feel and a series of buttons and scroll wheel.
The scroll wheel can work as a click style or a flip style, or as they call it “Hyper fast Scrolling”. Using the software included with the mouse a user is able to set the mouse to either automatically switch settings or by pressing the wheel down switch manually.
It took me a little bit of time to fine tune the automatic switch settings. The SetPoint software that comes with the mouse is helpful. With the software you are able to customize all of the buttons and wheels to work in different ways.
This mouse is comfortable and customizable making working with windows an awesome experience."

The Mouse Revolution
06/27/2008
By Inkfoxfrom Salt Lake City, UT
What's great about it: Everything but the price. What's not so great: The price is high but “you get what you pay for”.
"The Logitech – MX Revolution is what the name of the product is: a revolution. Its sleek design provides for a very comfortable feel complemented with a myriad of buttons and scroll wheels…well one “flick” wheel and another scroll wheel that acts like two.
To start this review with a bang lets talk about the “MicroGear” scroll wheel that lives between the left and the right button. This scroll wheel can work as a click style or a flip style, or as they call it “Hyper fast Scrolling”. Using the software included with the mouse a user is able to set the mouse to either automatically switch settings or by pressing the wheel down switch manually.
This took me a little bit of time to fine tune the automatic switch settings. Using 3DS Max and Maya I need to have that middle button function as a middle button but for reviews purpose I decided to try out the manual functionality and I thought it worked well.
Three additional buttons, excluding the standard left and right mouse buttons, are conveniently placed for easy access. Two are on the side of the mouse, default to Back and Forward for Internet Explorer and windows Explorer, and a search button is located just under the scroll wheel. All these buttons can be customized to fit your needs using the included drivers.
The last “wheel” is, what I call, the flick wheel, being that it doesn’t fully rotate. This wheel is like ALT+Tab but much quicker. Doing a single “flick” of the wheel will bring up Logitech’s open applications window and you can point and click to the application you want to switch to or continue to flick the wheel to your desired application.
To wrap the hardware up you have a very precise laser system and a very comfortable body that naturally fits your hand. The box comes with a recharge kit, ala a recharge base, and a small USB wireless receiver. The charge lasts a long time…I use this mouse for work and I only charge it during the weekends.
The SetPoint software that comes with the mouse is decent. With the software you are able to customize all of the buttons and wheels to work in different ways, a very nice feature. As I stated earlier the SmartShift (auto switching the scroll wheel) takes a little bit of time to customize, if you’re finicky like I am, but you can get it to match your style.
Pros: Everything but the price. This mouse is comfortable and customizable making working with windows or apple a very enjoyable experience.
Cons: The price is high but “you get what you pay for”. I bought this mouse when it was first released and it was much more than $99.99. Another down side is the fact that it’s a very right handed mouse.
$99.99 does feel a bit much to pony up for this mouse but its well worth it. Buying a nice mouse, keyboard and monitor can change any computer experience to a much better one and its always nice to pamper yourself in the process.
A definite recommendation to everybody, but left handed people; 5 out of 5."

What's great about it: Ergonomics, Programmable Buttons What's not so great: Price
"This mouse by Logitech is truly what it says on the box, "World's Most Advanced Mouse." Two scrolling wheels, search button, and and up down are all customizeable to do what you want to do. Great for audio visual, or even WOW. The recharge station is nice for gamers and occasional users alike, as it charges quickly, and lasts a while in between charges. I have had the mouse for about a month and I can report no problems. Installation and use are and have been hassel free. I know at a 100 dollars it is a tad expensive for a wireless mouse. But this Logitech mouse has everything it needs to be a great mouse."

Amazing mouse ... when it works
05/27/2008

What's great about it: Super accurate high .dpi wireless mouse, long batter life w/ short charge time, comfortable What's not so great: wireless reception
"The mouse has flawless design. The shape is super comfortable, and it's easy to spend hours at the computer gaming, browsing, or whatever without getting a cramped hand. The mouse wheel design is cool and particularly useful if you need to quickly scroll through long spreadsheets, .pdf documents, etc. My one complaint with the design is the practically useless link button that always seems to open up yahoo searches no matter how often you tell setpoint to link to google. On the mx518, still a fantastic mouse after all these years, you have .dpi buttons to increase and decrease your .dpi settings on the fly. Why these buttons were ditched in favor of the link button is beyond me, although this mouse doesn't seem to be targeting the gamer demographic, it is still a huge shortcoming. Other than that the mouse is extremely well thought out in design.
Sadly this mouse started to intermittently lose it's signal after only one week. It would stay connected to the pc the entire time, but it would randomly drop input. This could be caused by a number of problems; defective laser, or bad transmission/reception from the mouse/wireless receiver. In the end I just couldn't justify bothering replacing this mouse since it started to fail after only a week. I'm a big fan of logitech products, but am still skeptical with wireless pc peripherals. My experience with this mouse did little to alleviate my concerns. Get the G9 instead, or even an MX518, guaranteed awesomeness there."
