What's great about it: Good Sound, Lightweight, Better Gameplay and Comfortable
What's not so great: Yes...yes...the WIRES!!! And of course the HUMMING sound!

"I’m not a hard core gamer but I wanted that extra sound and better game play…I dunno I guess to hear background noises around me and such. These are good standard headsets for the Xbox. I haven’t tried it yet on PC but I’m sure it’s probably the same. The headset does come with some LONG wires like everybody pretty much said and it can look pretty hideous if you have a nice home theater set up. But I used cable ties and put them around back and it looks a lot better. I like the setup and I’m very high maintenance and particular person. So use cable ties!!! And with the humming, just don’t charge and try to play and you will be fine. Worked well for me!!! I would recommend for a regular gamer looking for a standard well priced headset."

"As soon as I got it home I ripped it open and set it up. It was easy to setup, and the directions where simple! The sound is absolutely amazing! I'm chatting with a friend right know with the volume all the way up (on the headset) and I can steal hear him crystal clear! I can hear enemies coming a mile away, (not literally, but figuratively). The bullets are crisp and clear! I would, and will, suggest this product to everyone and anyone!"

What's great about it: Quality and Comfort
What's not so great: Wires kind of suck but its better than changing batteries everyday.

"This headset has brought me to a whole new gaming experience. I have always loved playing call of duty 4 and now the new Beta for call of duty 5, but having that headset on helps me hear people coming from a mile away! My wife loves them and hates them. Loves them cuz she doesnt have to listen to a War going on in our living room. Hates them cuz when I wear them im IN THE GAME, dead to the world. The sould quality for this price is awesome. Comfort is great. The wires being the only down fall especially with having kids. But it sure beats having to pay for batteries and from what I hear the wireless set burns up batteries faster than a wireless controller. BUY THIS PRODUCT YOU WONT REGRET IT. It bumped up my game quite a bit..."

"I bought these (just like you all that did) for being able to play at night and not wake up the family..Now I can sneak out of bed at night when the wife is sleeping..Put these bad boys on & crank it way the heck up!!!..The sound is great..I like the rumble in the headphones when the grenades blow up..Especially in COD 4!!!..You can really distinguish where the bullets are coming from & hear the footsteps when people are running around you!!!..The only thing that sucks is the long wires...But to me is not really a big problem...Not unless you want to fork out more money just to go wireless...For the price & the great sound I highly recommend!!!"

"i understand the people who can now play at night
without disturbing family while they sleep, and why they would appreciate these.

but they didn't work for me.

what i wanted, was to hear if someone steps on a twig behind me...which might have been possible if 100 bullets were being fired in every direction.

these cans have big sound just as they advertise, but to me its too big. a gunshot next to you or across a field are about the same level. people speaking can easily get drowned out by the sounds of the game and really communication is the main reason i wear headphones. and really, the best headgear i have found yet for communicating is the set that comes free with the system.

i can not recommend these because even i brought them back...but others have had different experiences..maybe i got a bad set"

"I love these. I can play at night and not have to worry about waking up the kids or the wife. The surround sound scared me the first time I used them, it is so good. I really love this item. The only problem is the long cord. After I am done playing I have to wind it all up so the kids don't get it, and after playing for a few hours late at night, that is the last thing that I want to do. But for the price, this is a great product. If you don't mind winding a cord, buy these instead of the wireless. A great buy!"

What's not so great: ears slightly sore after extended use, humming noise when plug n play cord plugged into controller

"I bought this for my 360 on friday, went home, and proceeded to play COD4 for about 5 1/2 hours straight because this headset upped my game that much.
My living room in my apartment has the air intake for our central air system on the wall next to my TV, so any time the air kicked on, I'd have to crank the TV volume to almost max to even hear the game... but not anymore! With these headphones it blocks out so many outside noises and brings through the game with such a crisp clarity I can hear the flies buzzing in the dumpsters which I never even noticed before!
2 cons I have for this are if you wear the headset over an extended period of time, your ears can get sore and hot... but if you are smart and take breaks like i learned to, that takes care of that problem. The second issue is that when I have the charge cable plugged into my controller to charge and play at the same time, it creates a humming noise in the headset when I have the mic plugged in. If the mic is unplugged from the controller, the noise goes away. Its not extremely loud... just slightly annoying.
All in all, for $60 bucks its the best headset your money can buy. With the extender, the cord goes probably around 8-9 feet, so if you're going to be further than that, either get another USB extender at your local hardware store, or shell out the money for a wireless headset."

What's not so great: can be overly loud, annoying humming, LONG wire

"i picked these up after trying them at a friends and needing headphones for at night. the sound quality on these are very good. The price is right at $60 so you wont have to break the bank to get a pair. the intergrated mic is very good for online play as well.. however on the downside, the wire is extremely long about 13' also wen ever my friend and i talk with each other (he is the one w a pair ) there is an annoying hum when he speaks. When i talk w anyone else there is no hum. he also has this problem, so anyone who talks w a person who also has these will expierence this hum. also these headphones can get too loud to the point of pain even w the volumes turn low voices can be overpowering and sound muffled. also after wearing for extended periods of time the ears become hot and start to hurt a lil bit nothing unbearable though
overall it is a nice piece to have and improves the quality of gameplay"

What's great about it: Hear everything and where it's coming from, Build in mic to talk to your friends, Very light-fit, Perfect for late night

"It has a fairly decent warranty.
It has surround sound.
In Call Of Duty 4, you can hear any footsteps from above or below.
They are very lightweight and are not flimsy.
They feel very nice on your ears.
Best 60$ I ever spent."

Best Investment I have Ever made!! 08/12/2008

What's great about it: Great sound quality, Awesome price, Elevevated Gameplay!
What's not so great: When Opponents use PERK 3: Dead Silence!!

"I must say, I read so many reviews prior to purchasing the X1's as opposed to the X3's! All in all I will say this, those reviews all threw me a loop going back and forth between which I would prefer, so it came down to a few minimal requirments. A. I had to be able to plug in and out with ease in case I get called to a tournament for Halo or COD4. B. Voice sound had to be able to be heard over the ingame music. C. I wanted the overall product to be worth the investment with little hassle.
The only problem with the X1's as opposed to the X2's is the wiring, I'm not a sloppy person so I put the volume disk in an appropriate location where I can access it to turn ingame music/voice up or down, and can do it with no problem. So, it all boiled down to one final conclusion, PRICE! You can use either headset for late night gaming and you dont have to worry about batteries with the X1's. I would highly highty recommend this product!"

"I Bought these and they were great at first, but they broke way to easily....there is just way to much plastic on this thing. Also the wire from the headset to the tv is kind of sucks."

the plug is designed for controller only :(

What's great about it: comfortable, loud
What's not so great: incompatible with chatpad

"bought this at the recommendation of a gaming buddy, love it!
my only gripe is that the plug in for the controller has the plastic prongs on either side of the plug, and is contoured for the controller only, so even if i broke the prongs off, i still couldnt plug in because the contour of the chatpad is different from the controller.
sounds and works great as is, just have to remove the chatpad if you have one (which i use for naming potions and spells in Oblivion ALL the time) when talking with friends.
6/5 stars if they fix that one thing"
