"It's an okay product for a young person, beginner gamer, or economic buyer with no audio experience. I received these as a Christmas gift, they weren't the gaming headphones I wanted but I decided to give them a try for audio reference on future purchases. They fit alright, and they gave you plenty of cable distance to get away from the TV. Im not a fan of Wireless products, they have "Latency" and they drain batteries, I like wired electronics. The sound was too "muddy" or "muffled." I believe they were going for lots of bass for explosions but the overall quality of sound was poor, I'd give it 3 out of 10. The main reason I returned them is because the mic didnt work. I suggest spending a little more and get the Tritton Technologies AX 720. Read my Review of them in their reviews on the items page."

"This was a b irthday gift for my grandson, when he opened one earphone was broken off. Best Buy was great at exchanging for another set. However he has only had a month and cannot hear or be heard at all times. He is very disappointed as I am."

"I bought this headset hoping to solve my problem of wanting to play my games loud, but not disturbing my family members and this headset delivers. The sound is awesome, although the bass can overwhelm at times. They can be turned up really loud, but that will almost guarantee a headache, haha. Very east to set up and also, if you want to watch a movie on your Xbox you can use the headset with that too. The only downside, like I said, is the bass which is sweet for games like Modern Warfare 2, but I wish there was a bass control. Sometimes when talking to my friends online their voices get kind of distorted bc of the bass, especially if they have a deeper voice. Also, if you don't mind the extra chords, which are plenty long enough for almost any living room, then this headset is for you. If not, then opt for the wireless headset, but it does cost more than what I wanted to pay. Other than that I love it and its easily the best investment I've put into my Xbox yet."

"i thought this wouldl be a great headset from all the fanboy reviews, but in practice the 'puck' that connects the set to the control for actual chat breaks so easily that even a slight bend in the pin will result in non-connection.
and the best part? this happens so often that the site is sold out of them every other day: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/efx1/replacementparts.aspx
each of these pieces cost 5$ (not counting shipping) (roughyl 10% of the device) (20% of original cost if you count shipping) they also put a "2 quantity" limit on your ordering. what does this tell you? that people try and buy a bunch at once, because they break so often.
is this the kind of product you're looking for?
if you like your headset looking fine but not connecting in the middle of a game bc of a slight bend in a soft/cheap connector and you love ordering replacement pieces that begin to bloat the actual cost of the headset...then this headset is for you.
if however, you expect your money to go towards a well manufactured product built for its purpose...I suggest you give your money to anyone but turtlebeach."

"I've had my X1's for a little more than a week and they're great for the price given. They may not be as good as Astro A40's or the higher graded Turtle Beach's. But for the price and for people who just want good sound quality this is a good product. The headset can be uncomfortable over time (itchy, headaches). But they have a good fit for your ears and also look pretty cool as well. If you want a simple headset you can't go wrong with these. But if you want a high-end headset or you're a big competitive gamer, you should look into triton's, astro a40's, sennheiser's, or the Turtle Beach X41's. Good for Call of Duty as well."

"This headset is absolutely amazing. If you're getting into Call of Duty, you need this headset. You can hear people;s footsteps and exactly where they are around you. The ear phones are so comfortable, you could probably wear them all day. The metal microphone extension thing seems very durable and I can't imagine seeing this thing breaking anytime soon.
However, if you have an HDMI monitor for your playing screen, you may need the HDMI surround sound cable adapter for this headset to work correctly. It's more money for that, but definitely worth it. Also, this thing has so many wires, it may get confusing. In addition, when you have this headset on, you can barely hear yourself talk, so if you're a late night gamer, you need to learn to talk calmly or you'll scream everything you're trying to say.
All in all, if you're playing xbox, this is the headset for you."

"I bought these the day after Christmas and ever since then I've been using them. They work great and are durable. You can hear the sounds of the game and the chat clean and clear. The only bad things about this headset are that there is too much cord and you can't listen to yourself talk becuase of the thick ear cushions. But overall, this, in my opinion, is probably the best headset on the market right now. Go get yourself one."

"These headphones are amazing. i've been playing xbox without headphones for a year and i just got these today and they are awesome. i can hear every little sound around me, i can hear people creeping up behind me. i even play better now because of it. please do yourself a favor if you play cod mw2 or any other shooter or any game really get these, they will make you play better knowing where things are coming from and not having outside distractions. i didn't believe it at first but wow. the only bad thing is there are a lot of cords but honestly doesn't bother me at all i knew that when i got them."

"I got this product for Christmas this year. When I got it I was very excited to try it out. When I hooked up all the plugs and started playing, I immediately noticed a difference in the sound quality. The bass and explosion sounds in-game are fantastic. You can hear the direction of where the sound is coming from and foot steps can easily be heard. This headset has given me the edge on games like Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. The only problem with this product is that it makes the top of your ears sore, although this only occurs after/during long gameplay sessions. Overall, this headset is amazing, and it has drastically improved my gaming experience."

"i was reading up on these and thought that maybe i would try them out. my girlfriend bought me these for x-mas and they were the best gift i recieved. i read the reviews and saw that people were saying that they got better wearing them and i laughed them off. that was until i tried them and man they make so much of a difference. you really dont think that you are missing much not wearing these but you can hear footsteps, guns reloading, location of gun fire. the x1 sound is amazing. i like that you can lower the chat volume and just hear the game, especially in mw2. i am really impressed at this product and the staff at best buy. the staff helped me so much and was very helpfull. if you are on the fence about this product i recommend this very highly"

"my sound wire barely reaches the back of the t.v. i have a flat screen on the wall and had so much trouble theat my xbox is right up the edge of the television on a shelf and it has to be turned sideways and looks silly cause the wire isnt long enough for that... its a lil silly seeing as how the whole thing has wires everwhere not taken into consideration that not all t.vs have the ports needed on the side. other wise sound is great and they are comfortable enough.."

"I am a 47 year old gamer. I mostly play Rock Band and COD MW2 or similar. I like my video and audio to match in quality to the games. I use a 46" Samsung LCD and a Pioneer receiver to run my sound through. I also wanted to be able to play at night and not disturb the rest of the house. I read the reviews and thought I would give these a try. These phones did NOT meet my expectations. I think that $60.00 is a lot for dedicated headphones. They were comfortable and I did hear things in MW2 that I had not heard in the past, but the sound they put out should be in comparison to other options. The sound to me was weak and sound a little muffled or flat. I switched to my regular Koss cheap over the ear, and they were much clearer than the TBX1's. A mic could easily been added to go with any set of phones. Bass was a little too heavy for me and I like a good strong bass tone, but this one was annoying at times. If you had no other headphones to compare these to, they may be ok, but there are other options than pure gaming headphones. I am heading back to BB to look for something else."
