Great Headphones

What's great about it: Sound and very comfortable
What's not so great: Wire
"These were my first headphones I bought and they were awesome. The sound is great and they feel very comfortable. I use them when riding the trolley, at work, and just relaxing.
The ear tips do fall out a bit easily but after having them for a year and a half I have only lost the M/L tips. It's not a problem since Bose will send replacement tips for free which is included in the packaging.
The only major problem I have with them is after a year and a half of having them, the wiring got loose near where you plug it in, now the right ear piece doesn't work. All in all, these headphones were great when they worked."

What's great about it: sound volume
What's not so great: lose ear tips
"I purchased for my teenage son. Overall quality of sound is above average for price range. I consider this as a positive, ( I have 65% hearing left in one ear), the max volume goes to about 60% of all other buds I've tested/purchased.
Overall sound quality is a "B" grade for price range.
My main concern is the clear plastic tips that BOSE ships with these. If they come in contact with any outside source they will fall off 50% of time which is a pain. The design of the bud is good but the clear plastic tip falls off way too often.
I'm still looking for a $100-$200 earbuds so"

What's great about it: The look and sound
What's not so great: Comfort
"I do not agree with most of the negative reviews. As far for wire easy breaking, you really must be doing alot of abuse to it in order to break. the material is way different to $20 headphones. It comes with a carrying case and 3 sizes ear buds. The sound is great and blocks out everything else.
Negative- the comfort i wish it was more design to go in your ear more, i guess they looking out for you best intrest and not messing up your ears."

Worst Choice for the Money

What's great about it: The sound quality was good
What's not so great: The wires break easily
"I made my purchase in Dec 08 by January the wire was broken. They replaced it quickly, which should have been a sign to me. This is now May and the second pair has a broken wire, even though I was extremely careful with them, I have had 10.00 earphones that lasted much longer. You are only paying for the name because the quality and durability sucks. DON"T BUY THIS ITEM NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!!"

Initially impressed

What's great about it: The sound was great for me
What's not so great: Wiring gave out from 1 year of regular use
"Initially, I really did like these headphones and they were a great product for my lifestyle. I used them when I rode the bus or at work and even at the gym. They do fall out if you are too active, even with the 3 different sizes of ear pieces. What I was really disappointed in was that the wiring gave out after about a year of regular use. The sound goes in and out in the one ear bud. There aren't any visual signs of wear on the cord or at the connections, but the sound isn't there. For $100, I expected a higher quality product than something that is comparable to a $20 pair."

What's great about it: So far none.
What's not so great: EVERYTHING.
"I say everything is wrong about this product beacuse it's true. Why? For a $100, why is the cable made of the same material as a $15 product. Also the three changeable ear tips is good, but it takes little force to remove them, which means they fall off easily. Also the ear tips are pretty cheap and will tear with everyday use. (less then a year) Now for the sound. As an audiophile, I do my research for true sound. So far I've heard all bose headphone, and to me they all sound 'artificial'. I compare them to my Skullcandy Ink'd earphone sound, and hands down the Skullcandy wins. Why? Well it was kind of hard because both earphones have horrible uncontrolled low bass and muddy bass.It turns out the Skullcandy because they sound ever so similar, maybe even alittle more better, for $85 dollars less. For these bose, they have no isolation what so ever. They look like they have isolation, but they don't. They don't even block alot of sound compared to the apple's stock earphones. Please if you want better sounding earphones for less do some research, like Grado, AKG, Audio-Technica, Etymotic, Shure. But if you want to look cool and impress the non-audiophiles and don't care about the sound and too lazy to do some reseach, then your looking at a ok product. But just think to your self, why don't the celebrities wear bose, or why don't they use bose in music studios?"

What's great about it: Sound, comfort
"I purchased these earbuds a few years ago. I can say that I noticed a bit of a difference when I tried them compared to standard iPod earbuds. Fast forward 3 to 4 years..... i've had to go without the Bose earbuds for the last week and have been using the standard iPod ones..... there's absolutely no comparison. I have gone without the use of my iPod until I receive my earbuds back! the Apple ones hurt my ears after about 10 minutes of use and sound is horrible after using the Bose for so long now."

Bose?

What's great about it: Styling, build quality, reputation
What's not so great: Never achieved a good fit, volume maxed out too low. Sound quality less than I expected for the price.
"I expected a lot from Bose, but didn't expect to be underwhelmed. I found the sound quality even and balanced, but not exciting. To be fair, I was never able to achieve a comfortable fit with the supplied earpieces, so this may account for the "underwhelmed" feeling I came away with. Also, the volume was lower than any other headphone or earbud I've ever used. I returned them for a refund and purchased a different brand.
Bose has an excellent reputation, but in the past I've found other brands at lower cost that, in my opinion, outperformed them. Your ears may think differently. You can always return them if you don't like them."

What's not so great: They dont stay in that well
"These sound really good and I thought these were the best until I worked out in them. They didnt stay in very well, I had to keep adjusting them through my workout and it was getting kind of annoying. If you arent going to be moving around alot then I would recommend them."

What's great about it: Sound, bass, feel.
What's not so great: Price.
"It has been one on the best set of headphone I have ever worn. Many people say that these are not good sound blocking headphones...they were not intended to be that. Even though they do block some sound you do not need it to because you get lost in the music and forget about the outside world. As you can see they do cost a bit but that is what you have to pay go get good quality. These have great bass and without the "Bass Booster" they still "thump" in your ears. For the sound and quality they have, the price is unbeatable."

What's great about it: good fit, best sound of any earbuds
What's not so great: price
"I wanted some headphones to wear while at the gym. I listen to industrial, electronic, and metal and needed something that had a full audio range but also wouldn't get sweaty or fall out of off of my ears. First I tried some Sony clip-on headphones, but they didn't fit well and sounded terrible. No bass at all, and I am positive they were in my ears correctly. I returned those and got Nike Vapor clip-on headphones. A little better bass response but they distort too easily. Finally bit the bullet and bought BOSE. These earbuds deliver everything I could want. Great bass (only thing better would be to add a subwoofer!), great highs, good size and they fit well. They won't come out of your ears when running or doing presses either. The case is big enough to put your ipod in too. Very happy with them so far, and I guess you get what you pay for!"

What's great about it: Good sound but there are some flaws.
What's not so great: Earbuds always come off and the cord tangles too easily.
"Great sound but the plastic earbuds always pop off. They're difficult to find on the ground especially if you're outside. The cord tangles and stays tangled. I feel it is a little over-priced for what you get. BOSE® really is overrated for what you get. These should be less expensive but none the less, decent for what you get. I think you could find something better."

What's great about it: The sound and the comfort of the fit.
What's not so great: They don't work for active lifestyles.
"$100 dollars should create a great experience for something so basic. These headphones were great until I started working out at the gym or just being active outside. The fit was very comfortable, but they would not stay in my ear for an extended time. I had to keep putting them back into my ear and that is annoying when you are on a jog or trying to focus on your workout. I swapped them for skullcandy Ink'd and they are awesome."

Great sound quality
04/06/2009

What's great about it: Comfortable, overall great sound at all levels
What's not so great: don't reduce ambient sound much at all
"As you would expect from Bose, these have excellent sound quality at all levels. The ear inserts fit decent and are secure to the ear phones so they would be difficult to lose (unlike most in-ear phones) and if you register, Bose sends you an extra set.
I have to wonder if I'm between sizes, though. The medium inserts feel like they are just sitting in my ear and don't stay there very well, plus the sound is diminished. The large inserts feel a bit too tight and tend to loosen after a while. The difference between these and most in-ear phones is that they seal around the outside of the ear, not the inner canal so they don't put as much pressure on your inner ear.
That said, I don't notice the reduction in outside noise that I do from other in-ear phones. I tried them while riding my motorcycle and almost couldn't hear the music, unlike my Sony Fontopia set, which doesn't have near the sound quality. When the conversations get too loud at work I usually put these away and reach for a noise cancelling headset."

What's great about it: Great Sounds, Very Comfortable
What's not so great: Nothing At All
"These Bose headphones are the best ever! They are very comfortable in your ear. They come with 3 different size buds to fit each person's ear. They also come with a nice leather carrying case. Not to mention they sound amazing! Anything from rap to rock to country sounds awesome in these headphones! They are a little pricey, but they are well worth it!"

What's great about it: deep bass, good high notes, very comfortable
What's not so great: nothing yet
"I just bought these headphones, and so far they are excellent. They are very comfortable. My old apple headphones pale in comparison with the sound quality. You can feel the bass instead of just hearing it. The music is very clear, there isn't any static or other background noise that sometimes happens. Overall they are sort of expensive but well worth the buy."

What's great about it: The sound is fantastic
What's not so great: Poor Design
"The sound is great. I've owned 2 pair. The first pair, I would lose the ear pieces, and the left side soon lost sound. They were replaced by Bose. The second pair encountered the same problem after a year with no sound on the left side. The small ear pieces were still slightly to large to stay in my ears doing movement. Looking for a less expensive pair now."
