Good quality   03/25/2008
By Anonymous from Indianapolis, IN

What's great about it: Very good sound quality
What's not so great: Extension went bad after 6 mos...and cord is very short.

"The ear buds themselves are very good. Comfortable, great sound. The only problem I had is that the extension (included) went bad after 6 mos. I'm assuming it was the plug that actually went into my iPod, because without the extension, they work great. Problem is the actual cord is very short (60cm, I think it says? I assume that includes the length behind the neck). I can't lay my iPod on my desk or even clip it on my waistband with such a short cord, because every time i move, the buds pull out of my ears. However, I bought a pair of Skullcandy to replace these, and if I had it to do over, I'd take my chances with this one again....the Skullcandy are terrible."

What's great about it: great sound quality, cheap
What's not so great: break easily

"these earphones are a great set for a pretty good price, and they have an awesome bass. they also cancel out most of the noise around you. like when i would mow the lawn i didnt have to turn up my ipod all the way becuase these canceled out all the noise. but one day, my left earbud stopped working. but since they are at such a good price i can buy a new set"

Great Headphones   03/07/2008
By mstone

What's great about it: Good Sound Quality
What's not so great: Bad Cord

"These headphones are very good for the price. I recently lost mine and switched back to my regular ipod headphones and there is a huge difference I have to turn up my ipod about twice as loud to hear this in a noisy place. As mentioned before it comes with 3 different sizes of the parts that actually go into your ear. It also comes with a carrying bag a small case for the two pairs your not using and an a extension cord for the headphones. My only problem with this pair of headphones is the cord length. The original cord is very short without the extension cord attached. And once you do attach the extension cord it is to long and the headphones can easily come out, which is how i lost my pair. I would not recommend wearing these in a crowded place. One side of the cord to one earphone is longer then the other also, so you can have one cord go behind your neck. Its kind of annoying but not to horrible and is sometimes useful. Overall I would recommend these headphones to you they are cheep have a very good sound quality. I am for sure going to get another pair."

Note to self: ONLY BUY SONY EARPHONES!!   02/18/2008
By Anonymous from Centreville, VA

What's great about it: the design LOOKs good.
What's not so great: hte design is annoying, almost non existent bass.

"I like earbuds. I like to be able to take naps while listening to my mp3 player. I like my earbuds to have a comfy fit. I also like bass in my rap songs. This is not the case with these headphones. After reading the customer reviews of these buds, i was looking forward to some bangin bass in my ears. Boy, was I let down! The bass is almost nonexistent(sp). The bass is there but you can't really feel it. Also, I don't like the way they go in your ear. MOst earbuds like skullcandy's or sony's fit in your ear nice and snug and you can get full benefit of their sound. With these, in order to hear it good, the rubber earpieces need to be deep into your ear cannals(sp). It was an uncomfortable experience for me. Those are the only complaints I have about these buds. I recommend going with sony earbuds if you want best sound quality."

What's great about it: great sound quality, good bass

"Imagine going on a hike to some of the most scenic places in the world while wearing a foggy pair of sunglasses. The entire time. You're really missing out something, aren't you? Well, I purchased these when my ipod headphones broke 14 months after i got them. I felt like i was removing those foggy sunglasses. Everything is 300% clearer, and the bass is excellent. Probably not the best quality you can get out there, but a huge step up from ipod headphones."

A Good Upgrade   02/11/2008
By Grace87 from Madison

What's great about it: extremely comfortable, good sound quality, attractive, nice case
What's not so great: strange cord texture

"I just got a pair of these to replace the headphones that came with my ipod. The first thing I noticed was how much more comfortable they were than my last pair: they don't feel like they're stretching anything, but they nest in there snugly. With the 3 different "cap" sizes, they should fit just as awesomely in any one else's ears. They're not too shabby looking either ;)
But most importantly, the sound quality was a HUGE improvement! I can hear the subtleties of the music that were lost with my last headphones unless I cranked up the volume-and who really wants to flirt with permanent hearing loss?
I would definitely argue with the review that claimed that he/she had to raise the volume to 40% when he/she could have it at only 25% with the original headphones. These were MUCH louder than the headphones that came with the ipod. I suspect that said reviewer didn't have them in properly or had the wrong cap size.
The only thing I'm concerned about is the way the cord seems flimsier than my last pair of headphones. I'm not sure if it's a step up in the quality of the material or if it's just inviting cord snarls. We shall see.
Ooo, and another nice note-they come with a hard little plastic case that you can stash the earbuds in when you're not using them, which should save them from suffering a cruel fate beneath a careless foot. :P

Great Value-Great Sound   02/11/2008
By HTNUTT

What's great about it: Sound quality, comfort
What's not so great: Asymmetric cord

"I got my first IPOD and was pretty dissapointed with the sound quality, so much so I started researching ways to improve it or ditch the IPOD all together.
I found that overwhelmingly people said the original ear buds are junk. I wasn't sure how that could be; why would Apple pair up such tremedous electronics with sub-standard ear phones?
I decided to give these ear buds a try...was looking for something less expensive than a set of Bose or Shure's but better quality than Walmart brand.
These fit well and were comfortable to wear. To get maximum sound quality and noise isolation they really need to be seated deep in the ear canal. When I fired up the IPOD I couldn't believe my ears...I could actually here decent, clean bass with detailed highs and very little exterior sound. Would definitely recommend!
My only issue is the asymmetric cord, which I understand why they did it...but I don't always want to put my IPOD in left hand pocket.
Other than that, these are a NECESSARY upgrade to anyone who needs better sound than the Apple ear buds provide.

By imsoawsm0

What's great about it: nice quality, sound isolation, great bass
What's not so great: weird cord, weird look

"Over all this product was to my standards. The sound is great, the bass is great, and they are of good quality. The fact that the cord is shorter on one side doesnt bother me to much and the weird look doesnt either because as long as they fit good, i dont care what i look like wearing them."

What's great about it: good fit
What's not so great: flimsy cord

"i like the sound from these headphones. once you get them in your ears, they stay put. i like that the cord has an extensor--the shorter is perfect for keeping your mp3 player on your arm, the longer is good for placing it on a machine while working out. the sound is good as well."

What's great about it: ear bud, quality of product, stylish & design,

I use to have a headphones sony $ 70 and these ones for the half of the price are even better.
I run twice a week and these Philips work great. they dont move in my 7 Km rutine.

Bad design. Do NOT buy.   01/26/2008
By EAMODSdotCOM from Ga.

What's great about it: Beautiful pearlized color, "TURBO BASS" mentioned on package
What's not so great: Design is behind the neck, and bud is 45 degrees!

"Pop this in your ear and you'll see that they fit well, and are comfortable. They are painted a beautiful color to look cool. But when you have them in your ear, they look stupid on you because they are at a 45 degree angle. I want mine to look like they are not handlebars sticking out of my head, but just a tiny device that drops straight down from my hear like Skullcandy's. One more thing is wrong with the design. That would be the cord. The bud going to your left ear is shorter than the one going to your right. That is annoying as the left side can get pulled out easily. So they design these go from your ear, behind your neck, and down to your left in front of you. You have to look at the packaging to see what I'm talking about but this design is too annoying. You look cabled up, and I knew I had to return these for the reasons mentioned above.
I only bought this because the packaging at the store said "TURBO BASS", which was true. I loved the sound quality, but until Phillips changes their unintuitive design, go try Skullcandy's headphones. You still get great sound, price is about the same. DO NOT BUY.

Good for the money   01/23/2008
By UofIdave from Champaign, IL

What's great about it: low cost, good bass, fit well, sound isolating
What's not so great: long cord

"i just got these headphones and they have been good so far. i had a pair of shure e2c's for a year before the left speaker went out. these have a lot more bass and the same quality of sound as the shures for a third of the price, i would recommend buying these online for some reason they are 5 dollars cheaper than in the store. overall well worth the money"

They're goin' back   01/08/2008
By BSDavey from North Jersey

What's great about it: Cheap
What's not so great: Cheap. Poor sound quality, no bass

"I got an ipod touch a week ago, and the sales person recommended getting new headphones as well, as the ones included with it weren't that great. I figured I'd give 'em a try first, and come back later if I decided I didn't like the included headphones.

The sound from the Apple included ones was satisfactory, but they weren't comfortable, so I bought these last night. I'm returning them today. I had to turn the volume to about 40% to hear the music the same way I did at 25% with the original headphones, and the sound was tinny and not at all what I was expecting, even from a pair of $35 headphones.

Had I never heard the first pair, and therefore had no frame of reference, I might have considered not returning these, but I would have been disappointed with them.

I'll be returning these, and trying out another pair. I'd stick with the ones Apple included with the ipod, but they're just not that comfortable when wearing them for any period of time. Still, I'd prefer less comfort over that poor quality.

Great fitting and sound ear buds!   01/04/2008
By krazyk from Bismarck, ND

What's great about it: Fit great in my ears and sound quality by far beats out the buds you get with your player.
What's not so great: Don't have any yet!

"I finally found a pair of ear buds that actually fit my ears. The buds come with three different caps so you can fit the buds so they are a comfortable snug fit. I have small ear canal so the generic fit ear buds you always get with players never fit and stay put. I was able to find the right size cap that fit comfortable and thus providing great sound quality. There are similar ear buds for a much higher price but couldn't say no at this price."

What's not so great: Cord is either too long or too short

BIG Disappointment from a big brand   12/25/2007
By piscesean85 from Dallas, TX

What's great about it: in-ear buds
What's not so great: POOR BASS QUALITY, asymmetric cord, weak cord coating,

"I tried several philips headphones and these were my first purchase. I returned them as quickly as possible. Horrible sound quality, no bass at all, and low sound output- hardly loud at all. The asymmetric cord was so annoying. I'm surprised philips put these on the market."
