"i bout one of these a while back and i really enjoy the wireless connection that allows you to play with other ds owners! its got a lot of good games. its makes a great gift and anyone can enjoy it. my grandma bought one and she uses it all the time. sheuses all the puzzle games she can get for it. its freat for younger kids too!!"

""I traded in my old ds for the new ds lite and it is so much better! It is a lot smaller! The graphics are good! The touch screen is really cool. I haven't had any trouble with it. The wireless connection is fun you can play with other friends that have a ds, even if they don't have the same game. This is nice to take on road trips or just play at home. There are fun games for every age. I highly recommend it!""

"The Nintendo DS Lite is a very nice model for its price. It has beautiful graphics and a nice screen that doesn't compare to the original DS. I really liked it when I got it. But I had heard many things about it breaking easily, and the top halfof the screen broke later on. Then the entire DS was rioned, so I had to go buy another. That is the only con about this product. Otherwise, I really like the Nintendo DS Lite, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone I know."

"I love my Nintendo DS. I actually bought a Playstation Portable when it first came out, and while it was a really nice system, there just weren't enough good games for it. Most games were lesser ports of console games.

I sold it and bought a DS, which is a whole different story. There are tons of great games for this system. It's a really handy thing to have around on lunch breaks at work and such.

A lot of the games have stylus-based gameplay, which feels tacked on in some games, but is just an incredible input method for games that use it well. It works quite nicely.

The sound is louder and better than I thought it would be, the clamshell design keeps the screens safe in your pocket, and it fits nicely. I'd say that the only downside to the design is the fact that Gameboy Advance games stick out of the system, as they are bigger than the slot.

Overall, if you have the time to play handheld games, this is the device to get."

"I held out before buying a DS from Nintendo untilt hey released the DS Lite, and it was well worth it. The game selection is expansive and varied, the battery holds a great charge, the system works lovely and is a lot of fun.
It's slim and easily portable, and durable as well. I just wish Game Boy Advanced games fit into the DS Lite more 'comfortably.' They stick out of the bottom, which makes it a bit awkward at times."

What's not so great: takes away from reading books

"The DS is extremely well designed for what it is, a portable player. when flipped shut you don't have to worry about it getting scratched or beaten. the games are tiny as well, you can bring 5 or 6 games with you and they'll take up no room...again not having to worry about them being damaged.

another great feature is let say you have multiple (i.e. you have two kids and they both have one) you only have to buy one game and they'll be able to play each other wirelessly.

its a great device...enjoy it"

"I bought two DS's to upgrade my kids from a GameBoy. All of their old GameBoy games played with no problems. They really enjoy the "PictoChat" feature and are often chatting to each other from different rooms in the house. I bought a screen protector for the bottom touch screen and they keep them in a storage case, so they have held-up really good so far. My wife even enjoys a game once in a while."

"People will no doubt find the Nintendo DS Lite to be a way for Nintendo to sucker people out of their money. It can be that way, if you think of yourself as a sucker, but for me the DS lite is a little better. Simply put, if you're content with your original DS, then don't even waste time to buy this one. If you don't have a DS period, the DS Lite is a much better investment than the original bulky one.
With the DS Lite, gameplay is made a little simplar. The button placement and brighter screen make the gameplay a little better. For one, the start and select buttons have been moved to resemble where they were on the original Gameboy Advance. This makes handling some of the functions (especially for GBA games) a lot easier. The buttons, sadly, are a still a little small for guys with big hands like myself.
The DS Lite also comes with a phony GBA cartridge (called a "cap"). If you don't have a GBA game plugged into the system, you can put in the phony cartridge to keep it from collecting dust in there. However, when you do stick in a GBA game, it sticks out by about a centimeter. It just looks weird. The cap does, at least, keep the system looking good.
Perhaps the most welcome change to the DS Lite is the screen. The original DS screen was not exactly bright. In fact, it was, in comparison the DS Lite, rather dark. Games like Metroid Prime Hunters were darker than they had to be. On this new screen, the difference in how bright the games appear really shows. Not only that but, you can adjust the brightness if need be. It doesn't really affect the battery life, either. You can play the DS Lite for as long as you played the original. And also like the original, it charges while you play.
Another welcome difference is the touch screen itself. These screens last a lot longer than the original DS. Those who have an original DS no doubt experienced a lot of scratches on their screen from their stylus. To the point where it was noticeable. You could still see the screen, but it was apparent that the stylus was doing a number on it. The screen is more protected here. The stylus doesn't scratch the screen quite as easily. In other words, the touch screen lasts a lot longer.
The DS Lite also looks better, and fits in your pocket better. It also performs all the tasks of a regular DS. For example, if you're playing a game and you suddenly have to go, just flip it closed and it sleeps. There's also a place to store the stylus, and the stylus is better too. It's a little bigger and thicker, so it's not quite as easy to lose.
Some problems with the original DS still plague the DS Lite however. You still can't play Gameboy Color or regular Gameboy games on the DS Lite. Also, you still can't configure the controls to play a GBA game much easier. In other words you can't configure "X" and "Y" when you play a GBA game. This probably won't bother you in the long run, however. Also, the touch screen still has its sensitivity. Touching the touch screen with your bare hands is more dangerous than the stylus scratching the screen. The oils from your fingers might damage the screen and therefore, it won't respond to the touch of even your stylus.
When the original DS launched, owners will note that there were not very many good games availible. About the only good game during its launch in 2004 was Super Mario 64 DS. Now there are plenty of games out there (and not all of them are ports), so if you do want a DS, this is a great time to get one, and the DS Lite is a better investment than the original one by far.
The DS may not play movies, or MP3 players, but to be honest, that almost defeats the purpose of a gaming system. Am I looking to buy a portable entertainment center? Of course not, I'm looking to find a system to play some of my games on, and the Nintendo DS delivers. Real gamers know it's about the games, not about the bells and whistles of a system. For the casual gamer, the Nintendo DS delivers, and the DS Lite is a fine improvement.

"This is probably the greatest handheld console on the market. The only problem is that the hinges that hold the two screens together are very delicate and mine broke. I highly recomend the two year insurance policy so that you won't have to buy a whole new one. Other than that great picture, sound, and games. A MUST BUY ITEM!!!!!!!"

Gameboy Advance Plus Touch Screen 08/19/2008

"This Nintendo DS Lite is really worth its price! The system runs B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L-L-Y! I haven't had a problem with it yet. This system's controls were actually fairly easy to use. If you have ever had a gameboy advance or a plain Gameboy Color then you all you will have to learn is how to use the touch screen. The only part of the system that did not please me was the Pictochat. At the end of Pictochat talking your system has to shut down without question. Other than the Pictochat situtation, this gaming system is worth your money! I hope that you enjoy it!"

Nintendo DS--Best handheld system?? 08/17/2008

"Let me just start off by saying how I love the DS. I have always been critical of portable gaming devices, saying how they were limited-power wise- because of the physical dimensions. When I found a white DS lite on the ground, and found no user ID on it (no one claimed after 30 days), I decided to give it a shot. Instantly, I was gratified. The DS came with Pokemon D/P, which is fun. However, DS graphics are limited severely. Pixels are often visible, and hardcore gamers would despise this point. I have since learned the DS is not targeted specifically at graphic lovers. Putting my love for high res screens aside, I found the DS to be plenty of fun with hundreds of easily available titles and accessories. As for battery life-well we would need to create a new adjective to describe it. Wonderful. I went 30 hours+ without a charger with low brightness setting.

In conclusion, the DS is a perfect gaming device, if your goal is enjoyment. The PSP has wonderful graphics, but it is bulky, and has many buttons-as well as costly. I reccomend the DS to all casual gamers who want a break from intesive games-or just want to have hundreds of hours of fun!
