Nintendo Wii

Model number: RVLSWC/RVLSWFSP | SKU: 8008559

Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

What's great about it: Innovative, fun, and captivating! Not like being chained to a video game!
What's not so great: This thing could cause a serious addiction. LOL!

"Wow-- I just bought this new Wii as a family gift, for this Christmas. But you wanta know a secret? I've already taken it out of the box and played with it, after the kids bedtime. LOL! It is so entertaining -- and I have learned all sorts of things already. I mean, I have to know how to TEACH the others how to play....right? So a little early gaming was in order.
Bought extra steering wheels fo Mario Kart (this game rocks!) and a few other accessories like the tennis/golf/baseball appendages. Those are great! I don't know who came up with the Wii concept -- but it is nothing short of amazing when you think about it! My only reservation? I wish it was cheaper. Then again, I wish a lot of things were cheaper. The accessories were not high priced and the generic ones work just as well. You can find them everywhere. As far as games themselves, I wish there were more choices for the very young kids My daughter (4) can play the sports games (tried them at the store, she loves to play!) and Mario Kart -- but I wish there were more items suitable for the preschoolers. That said, we will have a GREAT time with this and I can't wait for Christmas!

Now can somebody tell me where I can find that Wii Fit package? That would be for ME... It's still elusive....I guess I could ask Santa?!???

LOVE this video console....buy it, you will NOT regret it!

What's great about it: Easy set up, doesn't take up much room, gives you some variety for exercises
What's not so great: Remote jacket can feel a little sweaty.

"I bought this along with the Wii Fit Board, and have liked it very much. As someone who never plays video games, I have found this system to be a lot of fun. It is a different kind of work out for me, and it is nice to have it as a variation from my visits to the gym / pool and walks around the neighborhood. I think the Wii and Wii Fit games work more on balance, and hand - eye coordination. It is nice to try out Yoga, without the embarrassment of going to a class, and get feedback about your balance. I would like to see a belt for the remote, because many of the Wii Fit board activities only use the remote to move to the next screen. During the activity, you end up holding a sweaty remote that is not needed for the action, but is needed to start again."

What's not so great: nothing.

"I purchased the wii a couple years ago when it was first released. We waited 13 hours outside bestbuy to purchase it, and got it home and it was broke....i believe due to shipping. This is the only complaint I have about the wii. It took me over a month to get the replacement, but I expected that. It was well worth the wait. Zelda is probably the best game ever...that and wario ware. It is fun, fun, fun!"

What's great about it: The ability to provide fun for all ages.
What's not so great: Shortage of units and price

"It took me a long time to find a unit for sale at a price that was not over the manufacturers recommended.

overall my kids and I have had a lot of fun.

A couple of negatives. First, the standard system only comes with one set of controls. There should be at least two sets of controls for the price. Second the games are also expensive.

What's great about it: mario games, motion sensors, addicting, good price
What's not so great: graphics, rarity

"I love my wii. It took me forever to find it. Good thing I did. First, its great to sit and move my arms to play, compared to my ps3. Second, the game it comes with is great. It may seem stupid when you first by a couple mario games, but when you open it for the first time, it becomes your favorite game. But the only con I have is, the graphics aren't nearly as good as my ps3. Other than this, it's great"

What's great about it: price
What's not so great: graphics, no good games, and its for little kids

"well lets see
the wii seems more better for kids ages 4 - 10
i mean all the games thats for the wii are for little kids
the wii fit mat is small
the graphics look horrible on the big screen
i highly recommend this product if your between the ages of 4 and 10
but if your older than that
the 360 or ps3 are the way to go
they have a wide range of games
for all ages and look at the price drops on them
their graphics are unbeatable.
they got good games like
halo 3 gears of war 2 fallout 3 gta 4
metal gears solid
see i think the wii should be for kids and no more
"

What's great about it: Easy installment, great games, many add ons, tons of possibilities!
What's not so great: Nothing to complain about.

"The Wii is great. I couldn't say anything bad about it besides maybe the price for it, but it's TOTALLY worth it. I love my Wii more than any other game system I've had. I love the controllers and all the attachments you can add to them, the fun interactive games, the exercise ( a total plus ), and the size. I get all of my games and extra controllers from Best Buy I haven't had any problems with my Wii. Plus, if I do find any problems or difficulties, the employees always have a way direct me into how to fix it. Even though they're hard to find now a days, go out and get one!"

What's great about it: Great gameplay. Great games for all levels and ages.
What's not so great: Only comes with one remote & nanchuck

"Ok, so I've been a Nintendo fan for years. I used to play Goldeneye and Mario Kart on N64 on a 13" color TV. Then I got a bigger TV and a Gamecube, and now I have the Wii. For those who haven't played the Wii, the reactive technology (gyroscope in the Wii remote & pressure sensors on the Wii Fit, which is sold separately) makes the gameplay more physically interactive than any computer game or other console game. You can actually do yoga and get feedback as to how well you're balancing on one leg. You can move like a real skiier. You can hold a gun and use it to move it to rotate your vision left and right simply by moving the gun and not pressing a button. You can use the Wii wheel to steer. Basically, you can buy inexpensive accessories to which you attach the Wii remote and nanchuck so that you don't have a bunch of different contraptions you have to plug in or buy batteries for (with the exception of the Wii Fit). For example, if you play a game like Quantum of Solace with just the Wii remote and nanchuck, you have different button usage than if you snap the Wii remote and nanchuck into the Wii Zapper (it's a mini-rifle), which allows more than one way to operate the controls. And snapping the Wii remote into the Wii wheel allows a great way to relax and race your friends - and remember, everything's cordless, which is fantastic. Of course, you'll need to get rechargeable batteries (only regular batteries are included).

Now, as far as the interface, it's pretty phenomenal. You can wirelessly connect to your home's Wi-Fi connection just like you would with any computer, and you can surf the web (for a small fee you can download a browser). If you really want to utilize the Wii for fitness, you can, with or without the Wii Fit. The Wii tracks your fitness level, gives you feedback and motivation and is really fun!

The technology is great, the games are fun (although there aren't a ton of titles out there yet), and the fact you can actually do something other than just sit on your rump and mash buttons is great for kids, adults and anyone who really doesn't want to waste their time sitting and doing nothing other than getting their hands tired. Basically you can play all kinds of games that involve arm-swinging, dancing, balancing, twisting, etc...

So I'd give this console a shot if you're looking for something innovative and silly and fun and actually can raise your heartbeat and make you sweat (in a good way). Of course, some games don't require too much motion if you really just want to sit back and just twist the remote a little and mash buttons...
"

Tons of Fun to Play!   11/14/2008
By JillyBean819 from Oak Park, MI

What's great about it: Gets me off the couch and on my feet!
What's not so great: Graphics look terrible on big screen tv, No high def cords come with system,

"The system is FANTASTIC! I love that Nintendo has continued in their tradition of including a game with each console. I hope that they never stop doing that! Wii Sports is a game that I never grow tired of. I have a total of 8 games now and they each offer a new level of fun and excitement. The only complaint I have is with the graphics. Now don't get me wrong...The graphics and picture quality look great on my 36" tube television but looks horrendous on my 67" HDTV. I almost cringe at the thought of playing on the HDTV b/c it looks terrible compared to the graphics of the Playstation3. I think it's time that Nintendo made a 2nd generation Wii with better graphics (1080p). 480i graphics are just not good enough for me anymore."

What's great about it: Sleek design, easy to use and set up, get to use your muscles and feel like you're doing the actual activity
What's not so great: Availability

"The Wii has to be one of the most innovative electronics out there. Such a great way to use video games, by getting you up off the couch and active. It's great for all ages. Being used at many rehab centers now for therapeutic exercise and biofeedback.
The Wii sports game that is included is a lot of fun. My personal favorites are the tennis and bowling. If you like video gaming systems, you've got to get a Wii. It'll blow your mind, and get you fit at the same time.
