Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

What's great about it: Very easy to set-up and use. Instantly addicting! What's not so great: Lots of expensive "extras" needed for each game and more if you want to fully enjoy the system.
"This truly is the ultimate gaming system. It is extremely easy to set-up and is an easy and convenient way to exercise and to get your KIDS to exercise. Only problem is the cost of each "accessory" . But those you can gradually acquire over time. Also, the popular games are a bit pricey when compared to other systems."

Great for big families!11/12/2008
By Buffy73from Nowhere ny
What's great about it: It has many differ games, it causes people to get up and be active... What's not so great: Need to buy extras, but that is not so bad..
"We have a big family. This is covering 5 kids basic present. It is very easy to put away. There are a bunch of differ games you can get so everyone is happy. The controllers are nice and fit into all ages hands. The kids have played it before and all love it. The console its self is very nice and not bulky so it can be left out also. I recomend getting this for the whole family."

What's great about it: lots of fun games for everyone What's not so great: too many costly accessories
"I finally have a wii!!. It was exactly what i thought it would be, and can't wait to buy more games. I've played with my nephews and my wife and will be hosting a game night soon. The only downside to the wii is the cost and amount of all the accessories. Granted, they are not necessary, but they still cost to much. Like the rechargable battery pack for the remote which is sold seperately. Also some of the accessories that are sold together in a bundle are not the same as the ones that are sold individually, and are of lesser quality, so the choice is your to buy the budle or each piece individually which costs more. ex wii fit with cloth cover(that slips) for the bord in the bundle or the rubber cover that holds still and give better grip."

What's great about it: Very easy to set up, My kids love to play. What's not so great: Games are expensive. Different controllers needed for many games.
"The Wii was very easy to set up and use. My kids love to play. The Wii gets them off the couch and playing when it's raining or snowing out. My only complaint is the games are expensive and many of the games need different controllers."

A Fun, Interactive Gaming System11/11/2008
By Kimxx2511from CT
What's great about it: Lots of fun games for it, never really get tired of it What's not so great: The remotes "eat up" batteries, games are pretty expensive
"I bought a Wii when they first came out, so I've been playing it for awhile now. I love how you get exercise and active just from swinging the remotes around and there are soo many games to choose from! I LOVE Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock for Wii and I just got RockBand for Wii! There are other games I loved to play like MySims, MarioKart, Wii Fit and my brother likes the Madden games. What's also great is how you never really get tired of playing the Wii, especially if you keep plenty of different games around. What's not so great though is how many batteries you use up just on ONE or TWO remotes. I've gone through packs of AA batteries and it starts to get ridiculous. The good thing is I'm pretty sure you can now buy a Rechargeable Wii Remote 'Station' thing, so I'll probably get that in the future. Another bad thing about the Wii is how expensive the games are. Unless the game isn't so popular, all games range from $49.99 to $59.99 about. And then there are 'bundle' games like RockBand and Guitar Hero that (rockband) cost $169.99 or so. And when you add the cost of games to the cost of accessories for the Wii (remotes, Nunchuks, Wii Steering Wheel, Sports equipment for Wii Remotes, etc.). That's A LOT! So it's not just the Wii console you're spending money on, it's also allll the games you're planning to buy for it too. Hope this review helps!"

What's great about it: It is easy to set up. The games are awesome. Never get bored. Gets us all off couch! What's not so great: The boxing is really hard and exhausting. Not enough choices for games yet. I hope they come out with more.
"This system is by far the best out there. It gets the whole family off the couch to participate. It is easier to control than ps2 or 3. Games are fun and would highly recommend. Great buy great price. I just hope they come up with more game variety. Overall worth the money!!!"

What's great about it: motion controls What's not so great: lack of games
"over all its fun and innovating to have motion controls, although they ae not always up to par it depends what the game devs to with them. mario and zelda games rock but most other are lame kiddie and the controls seem tacked on last minute. if they would come out with better games this system would be tops. dont get me worng for the price its not a bad deal, you just wont have many games to play for it. hopefully that changes."

What's great about it: Good for young gamers, Ability to d/l classics What's not so great: No HD, Very few unique games that are any good, Not for real gamers (see below)
"Browsing through all of these reviews, I noticed that most of these reviews seemed to be coming from the same point of view so I’ll give you something different. I don’t have any children so I will write this review as if you are buying it for yourself, not for your kids. The Nintendo Wii in my opinion is definitely not the console for real gamers. When I say real gamers I mean the people who grew up playing Atari, NES, Sega, and SNES. Let’s face it; any gamers from these generations would probably rather play the original Mario games and Zelda than any of the new Wii releases. Frankly, there are very few really good games that are unique to the Wii. In fact you could probably count the good games with your fingers and have a few digits to spare. It’s really sad that one of the most talked about games for the system (Wii Sports) comes default with the system. Wii Fit has garnered some fans but I’d rather go to the gym. Honestly, Wii Fit is to exercisers as Guitar Hero is to guitarists. There are simply too few developers making games exclusively for the Wii. As a result, only Nintendo has been coming out with unique games for the WII. This means the only unique games are designed for a very young audience. The cuteness factor and novelty of the controls only go so far. Any game rated M, or even T, will probably be on the 360 or PS3 with better graphics (with or without HD) and better controllers. The console itself has some decent technology, and by console I mean controller. The controller is reminiscent of the gun for NES. The Wii is without a doubt the leader when it comes to motion based controllers. Despite its good technology, the design for the controllers was not thought out too well. They come across as feeling extremely awkward. The game controls can also be easily exploited. For example, in Wii sports you can hit numerous homeruns with a flick of the wrist. A full swing is not required. The rest of the hardware is just lacking in power. The graphics are notably poorer on the Wii than any other next gen system. It can’t even play DVDs. Don’t get me wrong, the Wii does have its good points but I find they don’t make up for its shortfalls. The Wii does have a lot of nostalgia. The ability to download numerous classics is wonderful. I hadn’t played the likes of Captain Skyhawk or Ninja Gaiden 2 since I was a kid and it was great to play them again. If you want to play the classics again, the Wii is great. If you want to play good next gen games…get something else."
