Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

If you're on the fence...Buy it!09/17/2008
By Disneybratfrom Tucson, AZ
What's great about it: Wireless, variety of fun games, gets your butt off the couch! What's not so great: 1) Initial investment can get expensive 2) Not enough time in the day to play
"Wow, what unique, fun experience. I love the wireless factor...not being stuck to the console really allows you to get comfortable and not worry about pulling too hard! My confession? I am NOT a "gamer", however, I played Rock Band back in January 08 and got hooked. I had to decide whether I wanted to get the XBox 360 b/c of Rock Band, or the Wii b/c of its unique wireless options and fun games I had seen my friend play. Once I saw that Wii had Rock Band, I was sold! Wii Sports is fun, I loved making my own Mii too. I purchased Rock Band less than a week after purchasing my Wii and OMG!!!! It is so fun. You hear great music, while strumming the guitar or playing the drums or singing. This is so much fun and WORTH the money, but you will get hooked! I just purchased Wii Fit and I can't wait to try it out. I have read the reviews and heard great things about it from co-workers, so I am very excited to give it a try. To anyone that is considering purchasing a Wii, but you're on the fence...Do it. It's fun for all ages, has a variety of games to choose from and gets you active. One con I will say, besides not having enough time in the day to enjoy my Wii, is that...you will spend a lot of money up front for things (Wii console, extra remotes, numchucks, Rock Band, Wii Fit, GAMES...), however it is an investment that will pay off in time. Get the whole family to play!!! Besides playing the Wii Sports that comes w/ the console, I purchased, Super Mario Galaxy (typical one player game, but fun) & Super Smashbros Brawl (crazy game and lots of fun w/ multiple players). I have played Mario Party 8 which is also a lot of fun if you have multiple players! Enjoy!!!!"

Very fun console for families09/17/2008

What's great about it: Design is small and neat, motion sensing remote is very cool, makes you move and not just sit there What's not so great: Graphics arent all that great, compared to PS3 and Xbox
"I always admired Nintendo because they always innovate. Their brand is geared more towards family oriented gaming, but many adults still find the Wii and it''s games a blast to play."

What's great about it: unrivaled gameplay... What's not so great: graphics
"If you're looking for amazing graphics, or 1st person shooters, turn to xbox 360. If you're looking for a ton of fun playing just about any other style of game, get a Wii! Awesome. You should know by now. Best Buy has all the accessories and games you could want."

Great Family Fun09/16/2008
By cook4funfrom DE
What's great about it: compact size, just plain fun! What's not so great: difficult to find for a reasonable price
"I bought this for something else to do with my husband. My grown children want one now (after playing ours). I had not actually seen one before buying it, so I was really happy with the whole thing. The box size is deceiving, because it is actually really small (just a little larger than my hand), so it does not take up much room. I had looked on line for one, but the price was ridiculous. I kept going to look for one at Best Buy and they were always sold out. I finally asked a sales person, how I ever was going to buy one, and he said "Look in the Sunday ad." I kept checking the ad online, and finally saw it listed for the stores near me. I went in that Sunday, and they had them piled up near the door. I am really happy with the purchase!"

What's great about it: from my dad age 91 to my niece age 11 What's not so great: none at this time
"My senior citizen dad at age 91 is involved in Wii bowling at the senior center. They play against other senior groups from other towns. My brothers family and myself love this game. It is going to be a great winter. I hope we get a lot of snow just so I can stay inside and play Wii."

Innovative Fun for Less.09/15/2008

What's great about it: Too many to list. What's not so great: Lacks DVD Playback, small 512 MB internal memory limits downloadable games.
"First off, nothing comes close to the Wii in user interactivity. Almost every game require the user to respond via hand motions- immersing the player into the virtual world. Pros: -Small and light enough to carry to friend's homes to play. The PS3/Xbox 360 feels like dead weights. -Family fun, everyone can play! Their games are oriented so that when you don't have a controller in your hand, you are cheering for someone to win. -Games such as Rayman, offer tournament style playing that gets everyone involved. -Suitable for all ages, even my grandmother plays the Wii. In fact, she plays it every day- often asking me to play with her. -Alkaline batteries for controllers. Unlike the PS3 that uses a non-removable, rechargeable battery; the Wii controller allows on-demand playtime by popping in fresh batteries. (PS3 has a recharge time of 2 hours) -Affordability, as with everything nowadays, how is it on your wallet? At an MSRP of $249.99 it is the lowest of the 3 consoles, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360. Cons: -Features to Price Ratio: It lacks an internal hard drive for picture/video/game storing. It also lacks a DVD player. To be honest, the PS3 offers so much more for their price. (Blu-Ray capability is the big one, Blu-Ray players retail for the same price as the PS3!) -Only 512 MB of data storage. Now with down-loadable content via Wi-Fi, 512 MB limits the amount of content (games, etc) that can be downloaded. -Sensor bar has a somewhat short range. My couch is 8ft away from my TV where the sensor bar is placed, and I often have to move the sensor bar closer. Good thing the sensor bar comes with a longer cable to allow better placement. -Repetitive actions for some games: Running in almost every Wii game involves vigorous shaking of the controllers which may result in wrist injuries. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this product. Everyone loves the Wii! I remember calling to every store asking if they had the Wii in stock. It is rare to see my parents, much less grandparents enjoying themselves with video games. I recommend this console to people who enjoys social gaming and fun!"

GAMING IS FUN AGAIN!!!!09/15/2008
By SFTechFanfrom San Francisco, CA
What's great about it: EASE OF USE, Physical Excercise What's not so great: Graphics
"I stopped gaming several years ago as the game controllers and skill to play games far exceeded the time I had to put in to develop. The Wii has changed all that and I am back to playing the latest games and really enjoying every minute. From table tennis to drag racing, to Yoga, to being a part of the BAND, the Wii has something for everyone and sometimes you can really work up a sweat. The Mii capability allows you to create avatars for you and all your friends and they will show up in Nintendo games in the crowd or on other lanes...you can also socialize via the internet with your Mii's as well as play games against friends in other parts of the country. The Wii found my wireless connection instantly and I was hooked up. I still can't get my hands on Mario Kart, but have played and its a ton of fun!!!! For all of us gamers in our 30's....it's time to revive your love of video games with the Wii."

What's great about it: Great for all ages! What's not so great: None so far....
"The Wii is enjoyable in so many ways. I have never been able to enjoy playing other game systems with my children b/c I could never figure out the controls. The Wii is so simple and fun...I can play it and so can my younger children who always struggle trying to keep up with their older siblings on the uther game systems. It is just plain fun! Setup is a cinch!"

What's great about it: Great for Family Fun What's not so great: Not so much fun for one person.
"Wii has been a great purchase for me. There are two specific times that I enjoy. 1- When my boys come over, we have fun playing the games together. and 2- I purchased the wii fit. Two of my co-workers talked me into the whole wii experience, with the wii fit. So far, it has been nothing but great!"

Amazing Gaming Platform09/15/2008
By dimensioncr8rfrom Orlando, FL
What's great about it: With the Wii Remotes, you can feel like your actually part of the game. What's not so great: The graphics aren't up to date and most of the games are for Nintendo Fans and kids.
"Overall, the Wii is worth getting so you can play games like Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and so much more. The graphics may be poor compared to the other platforms, but its all about the game play itself and not how it looks. Its easy to use for all ages, its highly interactive, and you actually get out of your seat to play the game. Sounds fun? Then get one!"

What's great about it: unique controls, more interactive, built in wifi What's not so great: no 720p or 1080i
"I like the more interactive approach to the controls. It also has built in wifi which is nice for updates. they only real draw back I can see is in the modern world of 720p and 1080p tv's it just does not over the the resolution that you tv is cabable of."
