Nintendo Wii

Model number: RVLSWC/RVLSWFSP | SKU: 8008559

Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

Worth every penny   04/20/2008
By Romey from miami, fl

What's great about it: The controller, games for casual & hardcore players, internet / wifi, download classic games
What's not so great: Difficult to find, no HD graphics, online service is sub-par,

"Every household should have a Nintendo Wii for anyone who just wants to have fun and unique experience. I didn't plan on getting one till a friend of mine got me into it. The big plus here is the motion controls which gets you to interact more with games. Some game are gimmiky while other really gets you to do more than holding a controller. People will tell you it's for kids when it really isn't. While nintendo systems tend to have more games for kids than anyother system, there are teen and mature titles out now or comming soon for those that want more. For those of you that dont believe the Wii is capable of having good graphics, play SUPER MARIO GALAXY. It's not all this hi-def stuff that people think makes a great game but it's beautiful to look at. On top of that the Wii has wifi so you can browse the internet, some titles can be played online, download classic nintendo, sega and other games from back in the day through virtual console. Again, the Wii isn't a power house(I got a 360 for that) but it's a different approach for games which makes it interesting and fun."

Great Family Fun!   04/20/2008
By my3kids from Michigan

What's great about it: small size, ease of use, game selection, fun for entire family
What's not so great: too addictive! :-)

"We gave this to my son for his 8th birthday and it was a huge hit with the entire family! My husband, our three children and I all have fun using it (and I have never been a big fan of video games). I like that they get up and move while playing the games and not just sitting down pressing buttons. I would recommend it."

Excellent choice for everyone   04/20/2008
By AceJm666 from Ridgewood NJ

What's great about it: Great games, motion controlling, backwards copatability
What's not so great: few games for older kids

"This system is a great product to have just for the games, but there is a thought that nintendo is only for little kids, this is not true. The games are indeed made generally twords the younger ages, but that does not meen that teens can't enjoy them too. The games that people think are too childish for them are usually the best ones. Some examples are Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, My Sims, and Mario Galaxy. These games don't always apeal to the older teens, but I, as a 16 year old, find these games still fun to play. There is also a great variety of games for people my age. Some of these games include Super Smash bros, Legend of Zelda, and No More Heros. There are also other games that are great to have at parties like Wii Sports, Wii Play and Mario Party 8. Other great fetures of the Wii are the other channels that are either included or downloaded for free. You can vote anonomously on the everybody votes channel, view photos in the Photo viewer, and even download your favorite games from previous systems at minimal cost. This system has so much to offer, what can you lose by getting all these great games and features."

Highly recommended   04/20/2008
By int39raxdude

What's great about it: Interactive game play, cheaper than its competitors, child-friendly games
What's not so great: may be to childish for some, controllers take some getting used to

"My family purchased this gaming console about a year ago. It is very fun, especially in a party setting with multiple players, but you'll have to make sure you have enough controllers. There are also many single player games for when you aren't having a party. The selection of games seem to be geared more towards the younger children, but there are a good amount of games that even older teenagers and adults can enjoy. Overall, it is a good investment."

Something to look into buying!   04/20/2008
By puddles027 from New Jersey

What's great about it: Games, Graphics & Controllers
What's not so great: Get to tired playing a game - lol!

"After finally being able to purchase a Wii (being able to find one), my husband and daughter were so excited. They play more of the sports games such as bowling, darts, skeeball, but they love it. We got my father (who is 65) hooked on Wii (he loves to bowl). I thought in the beginning using the controller and numchuck to play a regular game might be to confusing, but it's really easy. I would definitly recommend this system, it's fun for any age and we have some great family nights!"

Love it   04/20/2008
By whitnickle1 from Indiana

What's great about it: it gets you up and moving, it's not like regular video games
What's not so great: some of the games take a little time to get good at

"I absolutely love our Wii. We got it just this week. I am not a video game person so I did not expect the Wii to be any different from our Playstation or Xbox360. Boy was I wrong. I really got into the Wii sports games. My husband and I had so much fun playing the first night that we invited some friends over to play with us on the second night. It's really nice that you can have a group of people all playing together. We bought the Carnival games as well. I liked that game too. Although some of the games on it were rather difficult. I am so happy that we bought the Wii. I would recommend it to anyone, video gamer or not!"

Really great fun!   04/20/2008
By janicey72 from Morristown, NJ

What's great about it: Fun for all ages. Very interactive. Gets you up off the couch. Feel like a kid again!
What's not so great: Not always easy to find in the store

"This is a must have for everyone's videogame room. It's the game of the future. Actually standing up and moving the remote around instead of just pushing all the buttons. Especially great to get your wife or girlfriend involved if she isn't good with the 10 button options of a playstation game! And it's also really affordable to boot. What's not to like!"

What's great about it: Happy to see my son can play his Game Cube games also on this system
What's not so great: Took a long time to purchase due to availability

"Not only is the Wii a great system to play games on, its also a great from of excercise, believe it or not. The tennis game requires so much out of you and its great that a game finally gets the couch potato off the couch."

Focused on fun, not flash   04/20/2008
By Tazzer88 from Maryland

What's great about it: Cheapest of current-generation consoles, innovative controls, accessible to all, comes with game software
What's not so great: Graphics not as powerful as other consoles, hard to find for purchase, lack of third-party software support

"Personally, I LOVE the Nintendo Wii. For those wanting a console that tries to break from the norm and focus on what matters, this is the console for you. Everyone in my family loves playing Wii Sports, which is included with the console, from my grade-school sister to my mom, who doesn't play video games at all. Also, the Wii has access to the whole back library of Gamecube titles and an ever-expanding library of Virtual Console titles, so there's always something to play, whether it's new or retro. Save a few hundred dollars and get this console, you won't regret it."

Amazing Console   04/20/2008
By loreli

What's great about it: There are a lot of party games available for it.
What's not so great: The graphics, although great, are not the top of the line.

"I like this console because it allows me to relax and play a game whether i am by myself with or with other people. I really like that you can download games from older systems because it is the first console I ever bought. I also love the interaction with game play, the wii remote is very unique and allows another type of input other than buttons."

Great Buy   04/15/2008
By djb6

What's great about it: Interactive, fun, safe for the family
What's not so great: Games are expensive

"I bought this system just before the new year and have really enjoyed it. I've not played it for a while but I have been too busy with working. This is a great system because it is from Nintendo. I really appreciate the family friendly approach that Nintendo takes, which is why it's games aren't always considered good games. There is not much, if any, violence in them and the Wii was designed for games like this.
.

If you're a more serious gamer, one who likes to play by yourself a lot, then this system probably isn't the best for you. If you have kids though and want to get them a system that gives them exercise, has really safe, fun games for kids, and is just a joy for the whole family, this is a GREAT system.

Fun...Gets Boring After a While   04/13/2008
By Jomamma

What's great about it: Fun at first, great system for the family, you don't need an expensive tv to get the best graphics the Wii can provide
What's not so great: Gets boring, controllers get terrible battery life, bad game selection

"After using the system for quite a while, I would say that it is a decent system, but not for the hardcore gaming audience. I have quite a few games for the Wii, most of them getting boring after playing them one or two times. There isn't a terribly large selection if you're looking for games such as first-person shooting or something similar to that genre. Most games for the Wii are E rated, and T rated games, such as the very popular Super Smash Brothers Brawl, are not terribly inappropriate. Another very annoying thing is after a couple months of use, the main menu on the Wii appears with a lot of static. There are many other controllers on the market for other systems that surpass the battery life by a lot. As a whole, I would say that I almost regret not paying the extra $30.00 for the Xbox 360 Arcade edition. It's a fun system, but not so much for everyday use or good gaming. Most games aren't terribly addicting, and it is not the "Can't put the controller down" kind of system unless you are playing with a group of friends. If the "Great party console" factor isn't your top priority, definitely go for the Xbox 360 Arcade edition for the extra $30.00"

very poor   04/11/2008
By hockeychild06 from Howard, WI

What's great about it: easy to controll, slim system, wireless, no internet cost
What's not so great: minimal FUN games, boring, delayed internet

"i got my wii for christmas and played it for about a week. after that i got bored of wii sports and bought madden 08. that game was pretty fun. it's easy to control but the online connection stinks. it's delayed about 1 second so it's very hard to play. i have had it for 4 months now and haven't played it for about 5 weeks. i was very disappointed with the amount of games that they have out for it. i would love to sell this system but my mom won't let me. I would much rather put my money elsewhere like PS3 or Xbox 360.

recommended for children ages: 5-12

Juvenille at best.   04/05/2008
By Jeeonathan

What's great about it: Slim, ownership bragging rights.
What's not so great: Maximum of 480p output. Lack of games.

"My favorite games on this system are some of the most simple sports games--such as bowling and mario. With a standard output of 480i and a maximum output of 480p, this game consul is extremely limited in it's capability to catch the interest of anyone for very long. I feel that it is already outdated."
