Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

Revolutionary product02/15/2008
By dargmarqfrom St. Louis, MO
What's great about it: Unique user interface, software easy to understand What's not so great: Not much free stuff at Wii Shop
"I am not big into gaming systems, but this product is great. Nintendo has learned what Apple has -- it's all about the user interface (wireless controller). Just playing the included "Sports" package is immensely fun. I went out of my way to set up a wireless connection for my Wii, but so far I am not impressed by the increased capabilities -- probably much more worthwhile if you have friends/family that also have a Wii. Recommend getting a second controller (see Wii Play). Also, be sure to go online and order your free jacket from Nintendo."

What's great about it: Fun! What's not so great: Graphics aren't a huge leap from what the Gamecube was.
"All right this is a system thats fun because of the interactivity you get when playing games. The graphics aren't good, but when you're having fun it doesn't matter. Watching someone else play and actually playing are totally different. The Wii is something you have to experience for yourself to appreciate."

Can we say something totally different02/14/2008
By Quicksevfrom Fresno, Ca.
What's great about it: Totally new controller type, small size, What's not so great: No DVD or need new Wii for DVD
"Great system. The new nunchuck controller style that goes off of motion and position is awesome exercise and coordination. I have had mine for 2 years and love it. It has a pretty good size game selection that is fun. The WiFi internet connection opens you up to buy and download the classics too. There are also a bunch of fun updates too for the kiddies, or grown ups, like voting on finy topics or doing things wiht your Miis. You and a friend can also email each other through them and share Miis.
Only issue is no DVD support. I have read places that it can be done via software but heard they have chosen to release a new console. DVD support isn't a huge thing to me since I already have a DVD player. :)"

Fun for the Family02/14/2008
By Ryebread
What's great about it: Unique Controller, Easy to Learn What's not so great: None
"The Wii is probably the most fun I have had playing video games with my family. It's truly amazing. The controller makes it really easy to just pick it up and play. There are a lot of party games that are great for players of all ages and tons of fun. Wii Sports Tennis and Golf are the best and really show off the controller's capabilities. They are both easy to learn and fun to play.
The Wii provides the most fun for parties and moderate sized groups maybe 8-10 people. I have some single player games which are really well done, but the most enjoyment comes from playing in a group.
The console itself provides a simple interface with some free content that can be downloaded from Nintendo. They have a bunch of little extras including Miis which are a characterized version of you. They are great fun to make and can be used in some games.
Overall the Wii is tons of fun and probably the best console for family entertainment."

Hard to walk away02/14/2008

What's great about it: Interactive, comes with Wii sports, can create your own "Mii", excellent graphics
"The Wii is a lot of fun. Unlike a typical video game, the Wii has me up, on my feet, and swinging away. The first night I played for three hours without realizing the time, and that was only with the included Wii sports package. Additional games add a lot more features and challenge. I also like that you can create your own "Mii" character, or upload an image. Very fun, highly recommended - from someone who hasn't played video games for a long time."

What's great about it: Fun, Easy to learn, Good Exercise, Comes with Wii Sports, Internet, Channels
"The Wii is so Fun. I was addicted to it just by playing Wii Sports. Also, you can unlock even more fun when you play games for the Wii. It puts yourself more in the game, instead of just using the four muscles in your thumbs and index fingers. The Wii isn't just a game console, but it has many channels and a message board. Once you connect it to the internet , you can use the Weather, News, and Shop Channel. You can use the shop channel to get even more channels. Overall, once you get the Wii, you are going to have so much fun."

What's great about it: Family fun, multiplayer, great kids games What's not so great: no HDMI connections
"I was hesistant to get a video game system for my son. I didn't want him sitting on the sofa playing video games. The Wii was the answer. The sports games gets him up and moving around and it's intuitive enough for the entire family to play. It's a nice alternative to mindlessly watching TV at the end of the day. It would be nice if they had included HDMI connects to take full advantage of HDTV's."

Great solo, or with the family!02/13/2008
By akshockerfrom Kansas
What's great about it: Requires motion of your whole body, not just thumbs. Allows people to enjoy video games who otherwise wouldn't. What's not so great: Number of games still somewhat limited. Finding a Wii in stores is still nearly impossible.
"The Wii is a great way for people who might not like typical gaming to actually get into the game.
My wife HATES video games, but she loves bowling and tennis on Wii Sports.
There are many family friendly games. Actually, one of my few complaints is that the vast majority of the games are aimed at a much younger audience. However, Nintendo's Zelda and Metroid series provide more than adequate entertainment for more serious gamers. Wii Sports, Link's Crossbow Training (with the Zapper), Wii Play, and Wii Playground all provide lots of fun for casual gamers who don't want a big learning curve.
Plus, the Wii now has the highest rated video game EVER in Super Mario Galaxy. That speaks volumes to the work they are putting into the Wii, instead of just working on the next console.
All-in-all, BUY A WII. You and your family will love it."

wii is awesome02/13/2008
By geturgadget
What's great about it: Easy to install, setup and play. Get's you off the couch. Everyone loves it, no matter your age. What's not so great: Stores keep running out of them.
"We got the wii game last summer and have enjoyed it since. The only downside was having to keep checking back until BestBuy finally had it in stock. That tells you how popular it is! Everyone really enjoys it, from kids to adults. I'm not a big gaming person, and don't play games on my PC. But once I tried the wii, I was hooked! Some of the games, like tennis and boxing, can make you work up a sweat! We started with the sports games that were included with the basic unit, and those are fun. We got some of the other games like Thrillville and Legend of Spyro for Christmas, which are more like the typical games, but can be very captivating. My daughter loves Thrillville, and has built her own amusement park. Plus there are other games included with it that will keep you entertained. We recommend the wii for everyone, even if you haven't played video games before. Great for parties and family get togethers, but makes sure you get another remote so you can play against each other."

What's great about it: Nothing like it, amazing interaction What's not so great: Lack of games for teens and above
"The Nintendo Wii is different from any game system I've ever played. It gets you out of your seat and moving around. I have literally broken a sweat playing the sports package that the system comes with. The interaction offsets the average graphics for a next generation gaming system. The only problem is the lack of games for teens to adults compared to the PS3 and 360."

What's great about it: Great system for Multiple players, fun, active What's not so great: Not many games utilize its full capabilities yet
"The Wii is a revolutionary idea. The games like Wario Ware and Mario Party where you can play with friends and act like a weirdo are great. I wish more games were out that took advantage of the controllers (nunchuck is almost never used)."

What's great about it: A system system build for muiltplayers and all ages What's not so great: None
"The systems is build to have a large group of people to play in a single room. Great games are being added to mix like Mario Party and Mario Vs Sonic Olympic Games. Just between those to games you can have hours of fun."
