Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

Ingenious Game System02/10/2008
By svcrowfrom Toledo, OH
What's great about it: The Wii is the first home game system that gets you up and active while playing. What's not so great: The game selection is not as large as other big name systems.
"The Nintendo Wii is a great choice for anybody who likes video games. This new, innovative video game system gets the player up and active while they're playing. It is a fun, family friendly system, good for all ages. The game choices are not as broad as other popular video game systems, but anybody can still get their money's worth and more out of the Wii. This is a great system and I give it a 5 out of 5 stars! I would definetly buy this over other new systems."

Best Game System Ever02/10/2008
By MomO2from Long Island, NY
What's great about it: Great games, love the multi player options, great exercise while you play, just watch out for that tennis elbow! What's not so great: Graphics not as great as some other systems but the physical activity more than makes up for it.
"I would recommend this for any gamer, child through to senior. My kids love it, I love it, my mom even loves it!"

Wii want you to play!02/10/2008
By njrp2000
What's great about it: Fun for all Ages! What's not so great: Game Development, Not a DVD Player
"The cons of this system are pretty obvious for those of us who enjoy a lot of the more mature games out there. Development of games that are cross platform for the other systems is a little slow. Manhunt 2 being the most "mature" game available for the system. Asides from that, Nintendo has created an incredible product which has done what Sony and Microsoft have failed to do with their next-gen graphics and technological doodads included in their systems. What is that? Bring the family together again.
Parents who grew up before the advent of the video game consoles can purchase the Wii knowing that they will not be intimidated by how to play the games. When I brought the Wii to my father's house, he was at first kind of skeptical until he saw the bowling and boxing games. At first he didn't want to try them because (like we all think at first) we are going to look foolish playing it, but when he did try it, he was a beast at Boxing.
Certainly it can be agreed by all that the graphics are lacking, but who needs cutting edge graphics when you are having fun? That is the point of games in general.
For casual gamers, this is the best system on the market because it is moderately priced and you get more bang for your buck compared to the other systems (here you get a game for free!).
Oh, and Rock Band junkies like myself need not worry. Harmonix has announced that there very well will be a version coming out for Wii soon. Perhaps this time they will fix the foot pedal problem.
Game Recommendations: If you like flight simulators - Blazing Angels. Linear FPS Action - Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Need an exercise plan? - Mario and Sonic Olympic Game (seriously was playing it for 6 hours last night and my arms are sore)."

Love the WII02/10/2008
By Igbyfrom Portland, OR
What's great about it: Wireless remote, moving around while you play
"I love the WII. It is fun and you move around, getting some exercise (although minimal) while you play. I also love that the system comes with 5 games. Bowling is the favorite game in our household. I have tried all 5 games and love them all. The boxing one is great exercise. If you are able to find a WII anywhere I would highly recommend picking one up for you and your family."

Great Buy02/10/2008
By Scantron
What's great about it: Cost, Fun What's not so great: Limit of 3ed party content, lower graphics
"The Wii is obviously a revolution in gaming. It is the most fun I have ever had with a video game system and I have had a bunch from the original Nintendo and Sega to the X-Box and Wii. With it's intuitive controls and ease of use it is perfect for the casual gamer. It lacks some of the third party content but with the success of the Wii comes more interest in making games for it. I originally wanted to get a 360 but because of my girlfriend I ended up with a Wii and I have been surprised by how great of a system this is. Give it a try and you will find like me that it is simply the most fun gaming system on the market."

Greatest new generation console choice02/10/2008
By Twonster
What's great about it: Everything What's not so great: Batteries
"Not only is this console super cheap compared to the PS3 and XBox360, but it has a lot of fun party games for all ages. The graphics don't match up, but the motion sensor function makes it all the more fun to pick up a Wii. If you're playing non-stop, then batteries for one controller lasts about 2 weeks or so, but that problem can be solved with rechargeable batteries. Even the free game, Wii Sports, is fun to play. You can buy old virtual console games online also. With Mario as the main mascot for it's games, you can't go wrong."

Unbelievable Capability02/10/2008
By garygadgetfrom Pennsylvania
What's great about it: Unmatched detail and functionality What's not so great: Game selection limited as programmers catch up
"Nintendo's Wii game has moved on from the teenage "gamer" stereotype and crossed-over to adult family entertainment genre. Astonishing graphics and endless functionality make games lifelike in most respects. Invite Grandma & Grandpa over for a memorable evening of generational family bonding!"

What's great about it: will be able to experience different game mode: you have to move your body to join the game. What's not so great: not yet

Best Game System Ever02/10/2008
By onethill23
What's great about it: easy to set up and take places, great for the whole family
""I waited in line with my friend to get a wii one sunday morning and we were first in line. Come to find out when the store opened they had already given out vouchers early in the morning. So the next weekend we got to Best Buy really early but that week they did not get any in and all I really wanted was to get one for my uncle. Long story short, everyone in my family got a Wii for christmas and we all love ours. Its fun to make a mi for the whole family and play games like bowling, boxing, and baseball. Mario Gaxlaxy is also a pretty cool game. Overall, the Wii beats out every other gaming system in my book. Its worth every cent.""

What's great about it: Very fun play that entertains for hours. What's not so great: Very hands on so can end up with sore muscles you didn't know you had!
"My child got this for Christmas this year and has thoroughly enjoyed it. Very good virtual reality and fun for the whole family. With all the new software coming out, you can put yourself in just about any setting. I just wish they would come out with software more frequently!"

What's great about it: Versitale, great for younger children as well as adults What's not so great: you contintually want to spend money to try new games
"This is a wonderful game system. I was looking for something that had games that my young children (5 and 3) would enjoy. My old game console have such a short supply of games for these ages. Now it seems we can't put it away. We'll even invite people over and have the kids play for an hour and then it is the adults turn for several hours. Incredible with very inovated games and interactive fun!"

Great for the whole family02/09/2008
By EarthGirl517
What's great about it: Easy to set up and play, fun for everyone What's not so great: Not HD, not for hardcore gamers
"I have an XBox 360, PS3, and just recently purchased the Wii. Any hardcore gamers out there already know that they will probably want to look at a 360 or PS3, so this review is not for them. The reason we purchased the Wii was because we have a 3 and a 7 year old. My 7 year old was upset that all the games for our other systems were too hard for him. He loves the Wii. He picked it right up and plays well. Anyone out there who has young kids, should not hesitate to buy this (if you can find one). We are looking forward to the new Diego game being released. I am sure our 3 year old will love it! Don't worry if your not technologically inclined as set up could not be easier."
