Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

Good for younger children12/19/2007
By gbrdfrom Massachusetts
What's great about it: Good multiplayer for parties and friends What's not so great: Having to get up and be on your feet, sensor bar freezes a lot during fast action games, battery life, single player
"The wii is basically focused on younger children. There are a lot of pros and cons to the system, in my opinion, the remote and sensor bar is not a pro to the system I think it is a con. Because late at night when im tired i just like to sit back and play, but with wii you have to be up and moving around. This system is good if you like that sort of thing but it gets boring fast. The only time i play it is when i have friends over, the 1 player sucks. When your playing a fast action racing game you may go to turn and it will sense your movement and you'll crash into a wall, or while playing a shooting game you'll go to turn and shoot but you won't turn and you will just get shotup by the enemy. The wii dosn't have a lot of games focused on older people, most of nitendo's games are a mario sort of thing, but that is a style of gaming that some people like, but i do not, I'm selling my Wii and purchasing a 360."

WII sucks12/16/2007

What's great about it: Decent console to get kids off the couch!! What's not so great: Graphics are too cartoonish..and you can't buying anywhere..
"This is a decent console for younger age kids too cartoonish graphics for older, it doesn't play plain DVD movies..better off with the PS3 free blue-ray player on top of a great graphics console and you can still get the kids off the couch with games such as DDR..backwards compatible with PS2 games."

What's great about it: the free motion gesture technology is incredible What's not so great: some controls take a few reps to get the hang of
"This may be the best video game related purchase i have ever made. I've even gotten my parents into Wii sports. The controls are easy to learn and are fun to use. I have Madden 08 and its so cool how you can throw and catch and make big hits. Overall, two thumbs up."

Best Nintendo console ever12/13/2007
By CharliePfrom Houston, Tx
What's great about it: updates up to the minute, to many to mention besides downloading earlier games. What's not so great: None, only if I could buy another Wii console.
"Its a new genre in personal gaming. The other consoles out there will be playing catch-up. The Wii in comparison is like going to the moon instead of looking at the moon with a high powered telescope. I'm 58 and have been a gamer since the early ping-pong and comodore games. I'm an avid PC gamer also but Wii lets you do the net, Photos and play online with 4 other gamers as well many other functions. Wii is the best bang for the buck handsdown!"

Best next gen system12/13/2007
By TheJammerfrom Long Beach
What's great about it: a lot of fun, new way of playing, downloadable games, fun for all ages What's not so great: still last gen graphics and VERY HARD TO FIND in stores
"If you have played a wii then you know how much fun it is. The "revolution" has made its way to store shelves. It uses blue tooth technology. This system has wii sports included in it. You can still play your gamecube games and you can download old classic games off of one of the wii channels. This system does have good games but if you are a hard core gamer then there arent that many games for you. If you are one of the lucky ones to find this system and if you have the money to spend then GET IT you wont regret your buy."

Fun for the whole family12/12/2007
By sweeperman22from Southern Indiana
"I bought this for my wife last year as a birthday present, and even though it took me about two weeks to find at a store it's been a great item to add to my entertainment center. The games are so much more then just pressing buttons it makes you feel like your part of the game. It is one of the best purchases I've ever made."

By Upstatemaxfrom State College, PA
What's great about it: Fun to play! What's not so great: Lack of games, graphics are weak.
"The graphics nearly kept me from buying this system, they are just not up to date, but it's really fun to play on... Easy to set up and get started on.
Hope more games come out for this system... If I could do it over again, I probably would have skipped the Wii and went for a PS3."

What's great about it: Popular What's not so great: Everything else that matters to a gamer
"Wii is sort of lame. I had it for about 3 hrs and brought it back. Let me qualify it - if you're a kid or buying it for a kid (ie anyone under 12 who has not played video games before) than this is the system for you. Otherwise I advise to stay away. Games, graphics, and controls are very last generation. I place Wii in the same category as Halo 3 - sooo much hype that there is no substance. I am sure many people will disagree with me, but wii is just a fad..."

GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!12/10/2007
By Arriel1966from Chicago, IL
"I strongly recommend this game system to parents that want to see there children active. It is a excellent physical activity for all ages. I used this system on one of my clients and they lost a total of 17.5 pounds in a matter of 6 weeks. She burned a total of 213 calories in 1 hour and also gained muscle mass. The boxing game is so perfect for those who want to have fun also get a good sweat on. In my opinion this is better than Playstation 1,2 and 3 and the the Game Box. I STRONGLY RECOMMENT THIS PRODUCT TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD."

Good idea, not finished12/09/2007
By bringblinkbackfrom Olney, Maryland
What's great about it: Good idea, interactive play What's not so great: sensor bar has horrible sensitivity.
"The system has a good idea of interactive play, but they need to change the sensor bar. The sensitivity in that is low. While trying to play a game, i had to pull the wii remote towards me as the objective to remove the object. It took multiple tries for the sensor bar to recognize what i was doing and have the gane follow it."

What's great about it: unlike any other system What's not so great: battery life
"This has got to be the best game console ever!!! It may not have the graphics of the other two....but it has so much more!!! Nintendo focused on the most important thing....GAMEPLAY!!!! The other consoles are all the same sit there and use your thumbs. The Wii can actually give you a workout....don't believe me...just try the boxing. The only downsided is the battery life in the Wii mote, however that is easily solved with the charging station. A must have for anyone tired of playing with just thier thumbs."

No we don't have the Wii12/07/2007

What's great about it: Fun to laugh at people playing What's not so great: gets boring/tired fast
"Everyone seems to be complaining about the graphics. Especially the "hardcore gamers". If you were a true hardcore gamer you would have known before the Wii even came out that Nintendo didn't create it for the purpose of impressing current gamers. It is totally family/group orientated and I think they did a great job. People all over the place who never play video games are standing in line for hours to get them. I still only have the Wii sports and everyday when I get home my sister and I play. I beat her at tennis, and she rocks at bowling. The boxing reaction times could be a lot faster. I think this is a great way to introduce people into the wonderful world of gaming without scaring them off with complex plots and crazy realistic graphics."

Unique system11/29/2007
By azburtonfrom Chandler, AZ
What's great about it: Completely different style of play, will lure in non-gamers What's not so great: Majority of games targeted towards childern, graphics not even close to competition, must buy "package" deal
"I purchased my Wii about 3 months ago and it is a great system for what is designed to do. If you are a serious "gamer", or like to play a lot of shooter style games, don't buy this product, (although serious gamers will already know that). The graphics are well below the Xbox 360 and PS3, but Nintendo put this system out on the market to encourage GROUP or FAMILY STYLE of game play, not to be a graphics titan. If you look at all the advertising Nintendo puts out, it shows a group of people playing, or a family. With that said, the majority of the use my Wii gets is when my family is over, or if we invite another couple over to play. In that setting, it is a BLAST. Playing individually, some of the games will bore you to tears... So, when considering this product, think about who you are buying it for, or, (if it is for yourself) what you want out of a video game system. I will say that even my Grandmother has played Wii sports, and LOVES it, so it will absolutely get everyone involved at a gathering or party. But when I come home after working a 10 hour day, I don't want to swing my arms around wildly, I want to just sit and chill. It is all about what you want in a system. Overall, Nintendo has done a great job with they set out to do."

Awesome System Awesome Price11/28/2007
By musicman75carpentersfrom Topeka, Ks
What's great about it: wide variety of games, easy to play What's not so great: cant utilize sd memory to store games
"I got my system last year during the launch and i love it. I like the simplicity of it all. I am not a high end gamer and i like games that are more puzzle and sim oreinted. For the price of $250.00 who could go wrong. I also own a PS3 and XBOX360 and since their launches I have not been impressed. They appeal to more of the hard core gamers who like the complex and high end graphics. If you are a high end gamer who are interested in the cutting edge violent and hd games this is not a system for you. If you like more family, simpler games and on a budget for video game entertainment then I highly reccomend this system. The only drawback is the limited system memory. Even though there is a sd memory card slot there is not way to make this sd card an extension of the actuall memory already in the system itself, so what happens when you exhaust the memory of the system, who knows. All that aside it is still an awesome system and its rareity at this time of year should show anyone how really awesome this system is"
