Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

Family Fun... preferably for winter11/03/2007
By melacinefrom Rochester, MN
What's great about it: interactive fun like no other system, comes with everything you need to play, inexpensive, wii virtual console What's not so great: graphics are so-so, only 1/2 gig hard drive, largely a winter system
"This is an awesome investment. It is Nintendo giving up on the next generation gameplay and hardcore gamers for the family and party fun that everyone enjoys. Most of the games are family friendly with teen and mature rated games being more uncommon. This system is great fun for one or four people, yet it is more useful during winter or a rainy day. Why play baseball on a video game rather than play yourself outside and get more exercise? This is definitely worth the cost. Hardcore gamers would enjoy the virtual console aspect which lets you buy nintendo, super nintendo, nintendo 64, sega, and turbo-fx games which are all previous systems. There are select games from those system that you can purchase with "wii points.""

OK for teens and adults, great for kids11/03/2007
By JenniInOzfrom Spring Hill, Kansas
What's great about it: The movements of the remote are amazing but not made for leftys (which i am), so i have to do everything opposite. What's not so great: The games don't have the best graphics and most of the games are targeted at kids in my opinion. Excellent for children
"I was a little upset that I had to do everything opposite, because I'm left handed, but my 5-year old brother and 8-year old sister love it so much. I would recommend this to a family with children because there are so many games for them!"

IMPRESSED10/31/2007
By buygmfrom st louis, mo
What's great about it: A LOT OF FUN....incorporate some physical activity in gaming. What's not so great: Don't know of any.
"Add us to the list of the many fans. My wife isn't a video game fan...but she does have an interest in this. We only have the sports game so-far but I think the activities and use of this controller is something she does like. She's already wanting to know when we'll get more controllers.
The only thing she hates is the repeated reminders of "are you wearing the wrist strap" that you have to acknowledge before playing. However....I think it is a good idea. I have to nag her just to wear her seat belt while riding in the car... : )
Lots of fun surprises.... You can make the characters look like you or the kids in a simple cartoon sorta way. From then on...the console incorporates the characters into the background of the games...which the kids will get a kick out of."

Best family console of our time10/29/2007
By Cylienafrom Michigan
What's great about it: Innovative, fun, variety of games, intended for any age What's not so great: Some controller movements are difficult; graphics aren't "cutting edge"
"I was skeptical about the Wii at first because of Nintendo's idea of making the controller look like a remote control. Regardless, the reviews were overwhelming, and I purchased the Wii on its second shipment.
This console purchase is one of the best I've ever made. The games, such as Wii Sports (which the console comes with), get you moving about. Adults of any age can appreciate some of the games, and children have a blast interacting with the Wii. Every night can be family night with the Nintendo Wii.
My only true complaint is that some of the games are a "try before you buy" investment. I would strongly recommend renting the games before dishing out the money for them. Due to the Wiimote and Nunchuck, the movements can be awkward, and no one wants to feel uncomfortable while gaming!
I strongly recommend this console to just about anyone. If there's one big purchase you want to make for a loved one this year, make it the Wii."

What's great about it: You can get exersise and Have fun at the same time! What's not so great: Dosen't look very good on 60" tv's and up.
"I got my Wii in July and had no problems what so ever with it. My family has just enjoyed having a Wii in our house. The day after we got the Wii our arms were so sore from all the movement they got the last night."

Fun at first...But gets boring10/27/2007
By SteelBlueTJfrom PA
"I have always been a lifelong nintendo fan, growing up with NES and so on. I had to get a Wii when they came out last year. I have had mine now for almost a year and I hardly ever play it. When I first got it I was very into Zelda Twilight Princess but that game was pretty easy and quick. Wii Sports was also fun but it gets old pretty fast. The Wii just sits in my entetainment center unused right beside my xbox 360 which I do actually use alot more. One of the main issues I have is that I wish the Wii would have HD capability. Playing Wii games in 480p look horrible on an HDTV, even with component cables. The selection of games for the Wii also greatly dissappoint me. Other than WiiSports, I only own zelda. No other titles appeal to me enough to purchase. The virtual console is a nice feature but I think its a little expensive for old games, which alot of them I already have in thier original version anyway."

Wanted to like it but didn't10/25/2007
By Hyprsleepyfrom St. Louis, MO
What's great about it: Innovative design of controllers, Nintendo franchise games What's not so great: Controllers movement is picky, Lack of 3rd party support
"I had fun with Wii sports but it gets boring after the novelty wears off. The idea of cooking mama was fun but when I tried to do the motions I evidentally wasn't moving my controller in a diagonal enough motion for the game to pick up. Half of the fun of the Wii seems to be laughing at people waving the controller around to no avail, but it is frustrating if you're the one having trouble. . My 8-bit and 16-bit Nintendo are my favorite gaming systems of all time. So please don't bash me for not liking the Wii. I really wanted to but I just don't. It makes me angry to play it. :( . I think I would have gotten a Wii if it had a better online community. If I could play Super Mario Kart for the SNES vs. anyone or Tetris or Battletoads then I would be all over it just for that."

A nintendo Wii, where?10/24/2007
By lovetophotofrom chicago
What's great about it: fun, innovative new way of button mashing What's not so great: don't really use anymore
"so i do love the Wii, the games are fun. Swinging the Wii-mote around almost giving people black eyes, all while drunk, is super fun. Its been cheaper than trips to the bowling alley with better music and far less fog. however, we don't really use it anymore, its kind of forgotten and i am not sure exactly why. there are no games that have really got me hooked nothing with much staying power. Even Twilight Princess, a game that i had been looking forward to for over two years, was a quick play and i don't get to play my video games all day either. I do love it but i guess we are all destined to forget the ones we love in a cabinet."

What's great about it: fun What's not so great: not the best graphics
"Its the funist system Ive had so far. If you dont have one get one. It helps you get active on a rainy day after spending hours on the computer. Wii sports is active the other games mostly just incorprate the tilting and movements of the controller."

By robertxfrom staten island, ny
What's great about it: easy setup, easy to use, surprising good graphics What's not so great: very few quality games out, game tend to lean toward the younger generation
"With having bought every available system on the market (360,ps3,psp,ds,wii), I must say that the wii has been a pleasant surprise. My daughter and I spend hours playing with this system. The controller interaction is incredible and graphics are very sharp and clear. The one downside is that the selection of games are very limited for adults. With the selection of games arriving over the next couple of months the system my finally be hitting its stride."

"I bought my wii at Best Buy and this is what i have to say about it.I liked the wii very much because it helped my children loss weight and at the same time they're playing and having fun. There was very much movement in all the games and i liked the wii because its like everything is real as your playing.Such as,in racing games its like your riding a car and in shooting games and all those other games its like your really playing in there.its wire less and thats good like when my wife is cleaning she dont trip over the cords.I could be talking hours and hours about the wii,and thats why i rate the wii a +++5 stars!!!"

Most innovative video game system ever10/20/2007
By OldieOlsenfrom Marietta, GA
What's great about it: unique gameplay, backward compatible, family friendly yet fun for adults What's not so great: some games not available to Nintendo users, but that's true for all gaming systems
"I've had my Wii for quite some time now and it never gets old. The gameplay with the wireless remotes is unique to the Wii and gives the gamer a whole new realm play. There is so much potential for even greater games and innovations based on the controllers alone. If you like the old Gamecube controllers, they plug right into it also. It's got wireless connectivity and you can download classic games from all systems from Nintendo and even Sega. I could go on forever, but you'd get bored eventually, and you should be playing a Wii"
