Designed for kids ages five to 95, the revolutionary Nintendo Wii isn't just a next-generation system — it's an all-generation system. The innovative minds at Nintendo discovered that the evolution of gaming has made video games very complex, and those who once enjoyed playing games with their entire families have become alienated. The Wii is pronounced "we" for a reason — it symbolizes Nintendo's driving philosophy: this system is for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore gamer, a casual player or a grandparent who'd like to play a game with your grandchild, the Wii will provide you with a wondrous experience that returns gaming to simpler times while also defining a new age of game development. In addition to amazingly realistic next-generation graphics and a variety of outstanding titles to choose from, the true magic of the Wii starts right in the palm of your hand — the controller. The unique Wii Remote controller is wireless and motion-sensitive, allowing you to use everyday motions to simulate the motions in your game. The Nunchuk controller attaches to the Wii Remote and uses an analog stick along with motion-sensing technology to assist in character movement. Imagine yourself in the thrilling world of Wii Sports, the awesome, action-packed sports game included with your Wii console. Using your Wii Remote controller, you'll chase down powerful tennis serves, add touch to your golf swing to avoid tricky sand traps, overpower speeding fastballs to knock them out of the baseball park and more. The Wii Channel Menu, which is the first screen that will appear on your TV, provides a simple user interface that includes the Video Console Channel, News Channel, Forecast Channel, Photo Channel, Internet Channel, Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel. Using the Mii Channel, you can even create playable caricatures of yourself called Miis that you can use in a variety of Wii applications. With an innovative motion-sensitive controller and the Wii Channel Menu, the Wii will truly make you feel less like just a player and more like you're really part of the game.

What's great about it: So much fun! What's not so great: This could get really expensive
"We bought the basic Wii that included 1 controller and Wii Sports game. My husband & I are in our 40's with no kids. The Wii Sports is a blast! It was the first vidoe game I acutally felt like I had a chance to win. Of course the first thing you need is another controller and if want any of the fitness games you have to buy accessories. Everytime you turn around it is another $50.
Our sensor bar is a little tempremental casuing my husband to loose sometimes. This might just be a problem with the player."

What's great about it: The WII controller as an interface makes playing the games like doing what is being simulated. What's not so great: There are times when higher resolution graphics would be nice.
"Overall, it has been great owning this system. The WII controls make playing golf, bowling and driving fell real. My WII bowling score is very close to my real bowling score. The standard def graphics is a definite limitation on what can be done with the WII. For example, don't bother with surfing the web with the WII. It is useless for that. The WII makes the best use of the limited graphics capabilities that it can. The games are designed to accomodate the graphics limitations. The up side of standard def graphics is that it can be played on a standard def analog TV. On a high def digital TV, the limitation becomes obvious."

What's great about it: Easy to set up, Motion sensitive controllers, Small footprint What's not so great: Lack of HD resolution, Price is high for what you get
"Compared to the Sony PS3 which I also have, the Nintendo Wii is way overpriced. I can't believe it doesn't support anything above 480p, and you don't even get that out of the box. You have to pay good money for a component AV cable to fit their proprietary connection. Ever hear of HDMI?
Rechargeable controllers? Sure, if you want to pay extra to buy the batteries and charger. The controllers come with standard alkaline batteries out of the box.
The biggest bonus when I bought my PS3 was that it also gave me a fully functional Blu-Ray player. I can't even play a standard DVD or music CD in the Wii! With the PS3 I have a fully functionaly media player with 1080p output, that is also an excellent game console.
It does have WiFi access, which is good. But the Internet access software is primitive compared to the PS3.
Set up was relatively easy, and the Bluetooth controllers were easy to pair to the console.
A price point of $150 or below would be more in line with what you get in the box when you buy the Wii. Its badly in need of a technological upgrade."

What's great about it: Family entertainment What's not so great: Body motion
"Although the Wii sometimes detects or fails to detect some motion, overall it is the business. Fun times to be had by yourself or with the family/friends. You get a bit of a workout, at least a lot more then any of the other gaming systems. It is the "Best Buy" for the price!!!"

"I was given this console as a gift but being an adult now I was hesitant as to what fun I would have with it. Make a long story short I have get togethers with friends and we all play Wii like a bunch grade school kids. Even my parents enjoy this thing not too mention kids. All in all one of the best gaming systems out there and a good bargain."

What's great about it: Easy to set up and you have to move for at least some of the games. What's not so great: My kids don't want to do anything else!
"This was extremely easy to set up out of the box. My 7 year old did it the 2nd time. It keeps the kids (11, 7, 5) busy for hours and at least some of the games require them to move. Some of the games only require the movement of a finger or a thumb so if you're expecting activity for every game, be particular about the games you chose. I was really glad that BB offered this with a $20 gift card, since it's hard to find it on sale. It was definitely the most used Christmas present this year. Adults love it too..."

What's great about it: You can't put a price on family fun What's not so great: Nothing so far
"The Nintendo Wii would be a good deal at twice the price that it is. I bought this for my daughter for Christmas but in all honesty, the entire family has been enjoying this gift. The only way to describe the thing is simply put....loads of fun. From making your own little "Mii" avatar character, to jumping your big, out-of-shape behind around having a good time, it's worth every penny and then some."

What's great about it: This is fun, fun, fun. What's not so great: Can't say anything but positive things about the Wii
"This was a Christmas gift for my son that he is very pleased to have. We played with it right away and so much fun with the sport disc games. To my surprise I also received one as a gift with the Wii fit program and I can't say enought about it. The design of the program is great, never had so much fun burning calories, even the packaging is well designed. Easy to set up and the instructions are easy to follow."

What's great about it: Easy to set up & fun - even with the starter CD...you can play right away What's not so great: working power button on remote - hard to press thru the remote sleeve
"The Wii Sport is everything I expected. It was easy to set up, easy to learn to operate and though the Mii characters are a bit funny looking quite fun to use. I've been told the Motion Plus remote makes it even better because it senses the motions more realistically, but the standard unit is all I expected & more. the Wii Fit balance board was my second Wii purchase & with it I'm able to work on body weaknesses like balance and relaxation techniques.....This was well worth the cost - good thing Santa's nice."
