"I had the Harmony 659 for several years that worked great with my home theater system. Dog took it for a bone ride. Just bought the 670. Loaded the new software, logged into my account at www.harmonyremote.com, clicked the button to upgrade my remote, and....wallah.....all of my previous theater components were loaded onto my new remote and I was done. Works like a charm. I like the improvements to the buttons. This thing couldn't be easier and, from first hand experience, their customer service is just that....service! If you have a problem, they are knowledgeable and friendly. Too bad I can't get paid to push their remote."

"I've already exchanged this remote once for a new one and it was a waste of time. I finally had enough and returned it for a giftcard. I decided my FREE DirecTV remote was more durable than this $150 remote. I think a remote control should be durable and able to take daily use and frequent accidental bumps and bruises. After a few months the LCD screen was messed up and I couldn't read the options on the screen. The bottom of the remote is curved in such a way that I had to press "0" a few times to change the channel. Save your money and DON'T BUY THIS REMOTE!"

"I bought this about 2 months ago and will say at first it takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it you will wish you had this remote sooner. Currently i have 9 devices set up for it and still looking for more to control. Once you have everything set up you will put all your remotes in a box and forget where you put them. The ease of controlling multiple devices at the same time and having each thing turn on and go to a certain video setting is amazing. It is the true couch potato's dream. This remote is a must have. Just remember to update the remote and desktop software every so often to be current with manufacturer's"

"I've had the Harmony 670 for almost a week now and am very impressed. Before making this purchace, I did my research and read all of the reviews I could find. I was really impressed by what people had to say about the line of Logitech remotes. My number one concern (that was not mentioned in the reviews) was the fact that my AV receiver and television were seperated by a great distance and I did not want to move them. My concern was could the remote be capable of turning on both the tv and receiver the same time as the original receiver remote would not control the receiver when pointed at the television. I talked to my salesman about this problem and he said it was a definate issue and that he had direct experience with this problem. His suggestion was to purchase a more expensive (almost $300) remote that used RF instead of IR to control the devices. My budget limited my purchacing to the Harmony 670 or 550. I told salesman that I could not afford the more expensive remote at this time but asked if I could try the 670 and bring it back if there was a problem. He agreed. As I found, my fear was not necessarily a real problem for this remote. In fact, it seem to be almost omni-direction when operating it. When I brought the remote home, I plugged it into the computer, installed the software, and begin setting it up. I entered the model numbers of my equipment and it asked me a few simple questions about my setup and prefences. Initially it didn't recognized my multi-disc CD player and satellite radio's model numbers. It asked if I had the remote for these devices which fortunately I did as I didn't have the remote for all of my equipment such as the cassette deck and VCR. The software was able to match up my remotes after obtaining inputs for the toggle power and number 1 buttons on the original remotes. In 10 minutes it was setup and working with about 95% of the capablities I desired. However, it took about 3 hours to get it setup just the way I liked it. It took a lot of trials with all my equipment to determing all the permutation and possible that I might want in the setup. The flexability and capablities of this remote left me very impressed. Upon getting the 670, I found that the 550 is just as capable. However, I did hear a number of complaints in the reviews about the 550 that I believe could be a problem after seeing them in person, i.e. the buttons are small on the 550 for fat fingers and it is not made as durable as the 670. If your on a budget I'm sure the 550 would be fine for most applications, however I'm glad I got the 670 and feel it was definately worth the difference in price. Hope you find this review helpful!"

It does require a computer for setup, which takes a little trail and error getting the top function buttons exactly the way you want. It turns devices on and off as needed and also changes to input selected for each device. The list of devices to choose from is endless."

"I was looking for a new remote to control my tivo and I saw this on sale for $119 and decided to go for it. Wow, I'm very satisfied as it not only controlled my tivo, but the tv and xbox 360 as well. I just combined 3 remotes into one and the best thing about it all was that I didn't loose any functionality that would have been in the old factory remotes.
The remote out of the box was not windows vista compatible, after several download failures and restarting my pc, it was able to tell me that it was not compatible with Vista and had to download a patch for it to work. Afterwards it updated the firmware on the remote. All together I probably spent one hour tinkering with the pc and plugging in my product devices. The hardest part was the part number of my tv which I had to turn around to get access to the back, the others like my xbox and tivo was pretty straight forward as it was on the front.
Next would be to intall my 10 year old reciever to get stereo sound, hopefully it will work...
Overall for the price that I paid it was well worth the investment as you can get rid of multiple remotes without loosing any functionality."

"When I got this remote I actually expected to return it because I doubted that it would do everything that I needed. I have a very complex setup with multiple HDMI / component / digital coax audio / Toslink (optical) audio hookups. I had many different inputs to my Harman Kardon receiver, going to my Samsung television. I had one specific hurdle that I thought, “No way will this remote be able to do what I need.” I have a 300-disc DVD player that is very complex for browsing DVD titles. The original remote had special functions that I have never seen on another remote. When walking through the setup of the new Harmony remote, it knew the issues that I might be facing, created two different options that I could use, and VIOLA…the remote understood the DVD player and both functioned beautifully.
This remote turns off all components that aren’t necessary for the specific task, knows which inputs are necessary for each task (i.e. Tv-HDMI2 and Receiver –Optical 3, for Television viewing….TV Component 1and Receiver Digital Coax 1 for DVD viewing). It automatically switches every component to the correct setting and input.
I was able to create 2 different TV watching modes. One that utilized just the TV speaker and HD-DVR, and one that utilized the TV, HD-DVR, and my receiver for audio. The remote knows which watching mode you’re in, so it remembers which volume control goes with which mode. So when my wife is watching “The View”, she only gets the TV speakers. But when I’m watching the NBA playoffs, I push the Watch TV 2 control, the receiver pops on and the volume control is for the receiver, not the TV.
My wife was able to pick it up and use it with no help from me. And the icing on the cake is that when I change our home theater setup in the future, I‘ll just plug in the remote to the computer, update it with the simple user interface, and away we go. The remote will always be the same no matter how I configure the system. And as we all know…Once you can work a remote control in the dark by the feel of the buttons, you don’t want to switch. We’ll never have to switch remotes again.
I wish there was a sixth star. Believe the hype. This is a great product."

"This has been a savior for our family. My husband has setup a very complicated home theater system with DTV, DVD, CD, Playstation and a multitude of options. Navigating the controls is really difficult - at least until we got this remote. It's as easy as pressing a button to get any of the components to work. Notably though, this has been the best for the grandparents and babysitters. In the past, we've had to leave them a notebook with instructions on how to use the system. Now, we just tell them to use this remote!"

"First of all, it does what I want and need it to. I like it pretty well. The shape is a little akward, when you are trying to change the channel with the bottom number buttons. Main complaint, is that if someone turns off or on a component manually, the remote doesnt know what happened, so you will have to go through the help buttons to get the remote on the same page... but I fully admit I may have something misprogrammed. Getting the remote programmed was easy. Overall, I really like it, and would buy again."

"this remote is great for replacing all your other remotes because it can do it all at the touch of a button. if you want to watch a movie it can turn on the tv and switch it to the dvd input, turn on the dvd player, and turn on the surround sound from one button. it does take a while to program the remote because it is fairly advanced and it does get confused as to if the tv is on or off sometimes (if you manually turn the tv on then hit the power off button on the remote it wont know what to do)"

"I purchased this remote two weeks ago and am very satisfied -- though not thrilled -- with it. It works very well (and allowed me to get rid of about 5 remotes!), but it did take me about 3 hours to get it set up right. I have some additional components like Apple TV that I kind of had to guess about during the set up process, but it finally kicked in. I don't find the "look" of the remote very appealing -- opaque buttons against silver are impossible to read unless you look very closely and though it may be ergonomically correct, it doesn't exactly scream, "Elegant" or "High Tech" -- but it has made my life ALOT easier. I recommend this product as a very good mid-priced universal remote."

"I love the ability to control multiple different components with one unit and the way you can activate the various components with a single touch. Hit "watch a movie" and the dvd turns on, the sound system turns on and connects to the DVD player, and the TV turns on and gets input from the DVD. Then press "watch TV" and the dvd turns off, the sound system gets audio from the TV, and the TV gets its input from the tuner or cable. BUT, the connection inside the unit for the cord (to program it) is fragile. I had to replace TWO of these when the internal component broke loose -- leaving me unable to reprogram the unit."
