Smartest memory purchase ever   02/10/2008
By noproblemgang from Houston, TX

What's great about it: Cheap, easy upgrade that makes all the difference
What's not so great: None, besides the drive during rush hour to pick it up

"I recently purchased a small, inexpensive laptop for web applications. Sadly, it only came with 512MB of memory installed. After scouring the Internet for deals on 1GB sticks (said laptop only had one DDR2 slot) I found this convenient little 1GB stick.
Doubling the memory made all the difference in the world for me. I can browse the Web without any difficulty whatsoever, and you really can't beat that in-store pickup from Best Buy. I haven't had any problems whatsoever with crashes or glitches.
I'd highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a memory upgrade that won't break your wallet!"

Great value   02/04/2008
By Joshua123

What's great about it: easy installation, high speeds
What's not so great: none

"I have an Acer Aspire 5050 Series that I purchased back in July of '07. It came with 1GB of memory and an 80GB hard drive, I thought that with that amount of memory it would be fast. But it was very slow and sluggish. I couldn't even run more than three programs without it almost freezing. I just purchased this memory today, it took me about 5 minutes total, to install, and it was very easy. It greatly improved its speeds and now I can now run 6+ programs at once with additional memory to spare. It was a great value at $30.00 and I reccomend it to anyone. I'm thinking about buying another GB stick soon."

What's great about it: Sale price was Cheap for upgrade
What's not so great: None yet

"I bought 2 of these online here last week for $29.99 a piece...couldnt belive it. I recently purchased an Acer Aspire that came with 1GB RAM (744kb recognized) so I bought 2 of these and swapped them with the two factory 512mb...computer had no problem recognizing them and operates fast as heck now. 2GB RAM and 200GB Hard rive space for $550 total!
Installation was a breeze even though I had never done it before."

A inexpensive NO-BRAINER   01/06/2008
By Maildude from New Joisey

What's great about it: quick easy and inexpensive
What's not so great: tried using 1 of my old sticks of 512MB PC4200 with it but doesn't recognize it

"The family laptop (Toshiba Satellite M55-S139) has been sluggish lately so I cleaned out all the adware/spyware the wife & kids let pile up. I then saw the weekend sale paper with this listed for 29.99, and figured I'd give it a try.
I used the online memory upgrade solutions tab & it recommended the exact specs that was on sale, so off I go & pick it up. Got it home, installed it in addition to the original existing stick of 512MB of PC4200 (SURPRISE! not as the site recommended), fired it up & it only recognized 1GB, not 1.5GB. Shut it down, rearrainged it so the 1gb stick was first in the case, fired it up with the same results. OK it must have a conflict with the different speeds of memory, so out comes the 512MB PC4200 til I can find somebodies laptop it'll work in.
With the increase of useability and the cost of this upgrade it far outweighs not being able to use the old stick of memory. I'm asked to look at a lot of peoples systems for what upgrades would help their computers out, so I know its going to go back into use sometime soon.
I am thinking about going back tomorrow & getting another stick of this to see if I can really make the ol laptop fly.In this instance I really can't complain about being led (the online Memory Finder) to a faster memory stick. The PC5300 was on sale for a considerable amount less than the PC4200, and it is running quick & error free so far. I give this product 5 stars. If I could've used my old stick with it I'd have given it 6"

Excellent Value   12/09/2007
By IslandJon from Singer Island Fl

What's great about it: inexensive but necessary upgrade
What's not so great: Nne

"My Acer Notebook came with 1Gig of ram and Vista Home Premium. It was a bit on the sluggish side until I replaced the 2 512MB cards with 2 1Gig cards from K-Byte. This helps solve Vista's speed issues by a big margin.
The new cards wee instantly configured and recognized in Acer's Hardware profile. It was all done in a snap.
If you are squeamish about getting into your computer's gut, I'm sure Best Buy can install the memory for you. If you are in the market for a new laptop, I suggest getting this memory upgrade right at the time of purchase."

None Better, Some Cheaper   10/15/2007
By Homeboy from Dallas TX

"I bought two, one at a time, to replace the 2 512MB DIMMs in my notebook so that I could upgrade to Vista Ultimate. It took more time to get the DIMMs out of the packaging than it took to install them in the notebook. Vista Ultimate flies on my notebook with the 2 GB of RAM. Performance was adequate with 1.5 GB but began suffering when 4 programs were active across 2 logged in users with IE having 6 open tabs thus the purchase of an additional DIMM. While Kingston memory (for less $$) might have worked, their website was vague on which DIMM was needed in my notebook. The BestBuy guy was emphatic that Kbyte would work in my notebook and he was right."

Flawless Install and Performance   08/16/2007
By Kenny from Gainesville, FL

"Good instructions provided for installation. I purchased two 1 GB modules to replace the two 512KB modules that came stock when I bought a Gateway notebook from BB. I installed the 1 GB modules before even turning on the notebook the first time so it would be detected during Vista setup. Worked like a charm and have been using it for over a month now and have no problems what-so-ever. Vista flies with 2 GB RAM and I run 4-6 apps at the same time, with a web browser being one of those apps with about a dozen tabs running in the browser. You definitely want 2 GB for any computer, desktop or notebook running Vista."
