What's great about it: Sleek Design, great for starters

I have the PS3 for myself but I bought this console for my son. My son is 6 years old and has been getting into gaming allot more. I decided to let my son get used to the Playstation unit by buying him the Playstation 2. The other good thing is it does play his dvd's as well, so we were able to take the dvd player out of his room and just use this. The design is very sleek. The unit runs great. My son has speant countless hours playing this. I am glad that I bought this for him. I recommend this for sure.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, can be set up in HD, and very space saving
What's not so great: Nothing
This is a great improvment over the original PS2. It does not have noisey fans, and you can hook it up to be HD through component cables! If you are looking for a small and inexpensive game system that features TONS of games, this is the one for you.

What's great about it: good price, good graphiocs for 6th gen. console,
What's not so great: scratches easy, hard to clean between grooves,
The ps2 is a great console. Priced at 100 bucks, its the cheapest console on the market. It reads DVD's and CD's. I found that the silver scratches very easily, if you ask me, get the black. Has good games at great prices, and decent graphics. This console is mainly for games. If you want something with a lot of features, get the ps3, xbox 360, or wii. Overall great if you are only gonna use it for gaming, dvd's, or cd's

You can play ur ps2 games ur ps1 games and dvds all in 1 easy to use system. this 1 works great and its purty. Mines black so my bro bought the silver. Us buying it didnt really have anything to do with the color but it works great and the marked down price is an even better buy so id get one if u dont already hav 1.

What's great about it: 9 years of great games to play, Great system all around.
What's not so great: I honestly can't think of anything.
Wow, this thing has been going strong for about 9 years now. That's incredible. What can I say about this fine piece of video gaming tech? It's the best last-gen console there is...Period. I know many people start screaming "Xbox" and "Halo" but good luck finding one. PS2's are still in good supply. If you're being hurt by the recession and can't afford a PS3 or Xbox 360 this is the perfect system for you. $99 gets you everything you need to start playing, except the games, which are cheap now. You can buy all the classics: MGS3, Socom, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil 4, Shadow of the Colossus and all the others for $20 or less. Plus the silver color is awesome. You really can't go wrong with a PS2.

What's great about it: Fun, design, lots of games to choose from
What's not so great: You need to take care of it really good... treat it like a baby :D
I got the slimline version of the PS2 not long after it came out. I went out and bought it, replacing the big, bulky one. I fell in love with it. Now, after almost nine years owning a PS2, I dare to say you won't regret it. Sure, its not as good as a PS3 or an XBOX 360, but it'll keep you entertained for a very long time. I'm about to go out and buy my third PS2. Its a great buy!!

What's great about it: Affordable, backward compatible, Design, compact.
What's not so great: Wish it had a DVD slot loader design
I had a PS2 years ago when it was the fatter clunky model. Got rid of it when I got my xbox and later my Xbox 360. I also have a Wii so I figured that since the Playstation 2 went down in price it was time to expand my options and add this console to my collection...again.
The PS3 is a powerful system but NOT backward compatible like the first generation of its kind was. That's why they still have the PS2 going strong. It's the only way to play all the vast games that the new PS3 can't . And some PS3 games are also available for the PS2. I've seen the PS2 slim design and thought it looked great but I was very impress as how compact it really is!
I bought the silver one to blend in with my electronics. It's so much smaller and thinner that it fits next to the Wii and both sit perfectly on top of my 5 Disc upconvert Home theater system!
It works great with both PSone and PS2 games! The graphics are decent (480P on DVD playback and some games) with the optional component cable hooked up to my LCD TV.
It even has Optical digital outlet as well as a built in network hookup for broadband connection. This use to be a additional costly add-on that made the old PS2 even more clunky.
It would really look nice if it had a slot loading design for the disc to be inserted like the PS3. It would probably change the design and make it a bit more pricey...just a thought.

What's great about it: EXTREMELY CHEAP (not in a bad way)
What's not so great: scratches easily, not very durable
I've had my ps2 for about a year now and i can't believe that you can get on for $100. I think i paid $150 for mine and it was still a great value. Ive had some problems with the little cover over the disk compartment, it wont stay closed. A solid B+

What's great about it: The design is very good and minimalist

This Console gave me so many hours of fun and excitement back in the days and even now i still play God of War and RE 4 on ti once on a while , if you have not played any PS 2 games and plan on getting it i recommend you to buy this version because the Color looks very cool .
Also a few Game Recommendations
Racing: Gran Turismo 3 and 4
Figthing: Capcom vs SNK 2 , Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, Soulcalibur 2
Action - Adventure : God of War 1 and 2 , Devil May Cry 1 and 3 (stay away from Devil May Cry 2 it sucks)
Survival Horror: Resident Evil Code Veronica, Resident Evil 4 , Fatal Frame 1,2 and 3
Espionage: Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 , Splinter Cell
RPG: Final Fantasy X, Grandia 3, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Overall this System gets a 9.7

What's not so great: glitches
it is a very good system for sports games or any others. about once every couple of months it will stop reading all disks for a few days but then it back and running fine.

What's great about it: Really fun, of corse, like any other playstation.
What's not so great: After around a year or 2, I couldn't play certain games.
Despite the color, it is like any other regular playstation. I got it around christmas 2007, or so (its not silver, its white), and I dont play it too much, mabie like 30 minutes a day. I recieved 2 games this year titled "Jacka**" and "Dave Mirra BMX 2", and they had absolutley no scratches, and were brand new. I went to play them and only "Dave Mirra BMX 2" ended up working.
If you take good care of it, and it dont drop off of whatever you have it on (sometimes the cord gets yanked to mine and the playstation hits the ground), then you shouldnt have nothing to worry about.

What's great about it: Popular kids games like Backyard sports games
What's not so great: Not durable
I have now been through 2 PS2 models because I have accidently droped them. Luckely I got replacement plans on both and i dont have to sell all my games. I also have a 360 and have dropped that too but it still works fine. The PS2 is not well put together, it is flimsy and will break if you break it in the slightest way. Otherwise, good games and desent graphics. I would prefer an xbox 360 over a PS2.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: thin,cheap price,good quality,good durability,good classic games
What's not so great: they dont have all of the newer games for it.
i have had my ps2 for about 6 years now and i still LOVE it,its awesome quality and cheap price,it doesnt have as good graphics as ps3 or xpox 360,but its alot cheaper,some of the classic games such as nfs hop pursuit 2 and ssx3 are really really fun and i still play them,the only thing is that they dont have allot the newer games that u get with ps3,wii, and 360,but over all this is a great system and i highly recomend it!

I BOUGHT THIS SYSTEM ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO AND IT WORKED GREAT AND THEN JUST ONE DAY I WENT TO PLAY AND I PLUGED IT IN AND NOTHING. IT WILL NOT TURN ON OR ANYTHING. I TRIED DIFFERENT CORDS AND STIL NOTHING. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.

the ps2 is a good console to start off with. it has over 1,000 game titles available. it has pretty good graphics and can play online. another good thing about it is that its really small. you can bring it any where with no hassle at all. its also really tough because i dropped it from 3 ft and it still works fine! the only down side is that it scratches easily but other than that its a good console to get.

The playstation 2 silver is shiny and thinner. The graphics are good. It has an built in adapter so an person can play online. But it scratches and the scratches shows up easily.
