"I have 2 cats that shed alot. This vacuum is amazing. I vacuum every day and still it seems to find globs of fur. The carpets looked brand new after vacuuming. I had a hard time deciding on spending this kind of money on a vacuum. But now that I have had it for 6 months, it is worth every penny."

"I purchased my Dyson Animal in July of this year. I had just vacuumed earlier in the day with my old Hoover, when I got the Dyson out of the box and assembled, I vacuumed again. I absolutely could not believe the amount of dirt, dust, pet hair and human hair this thing picked up! It was very easy to move around, not really all that heavy, and the fuller the container gets, the more suction it seems to have, although I never let it get that full. It was the best investment I have ever made and would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone who has pets and/or kids. You won't be disappointed."

"Holy Cr*p! We have a dog, a cat, and 4 kids and were stunned to see how much stuff the Dyson pulled out of rugs, couches, and dog beds that looked clean. The carpet and rugs looked completely different after using the Dyson. Although it costs more than competitors, none of the competitors are playing in the same league. The design and features are very clever and intuitive as well. Miele makes JUNK compared to this!"

What's great about it: It really is the "animal" for pet hair problems What's not so great: A little heavy to carry up and down the stairs
"We have two long hair cats and the Dyson is the only vacuum we have ever incountered that gets up all the hair and cat litter dust. It makes it easy to maintain a nice clean carpet and the uphostery tool is the best.
We were very fortunate because we got ours on sale. When we brought it home, we had just vacuumed that morning with our old vacuum that was a "bagless" model from another company. We really didn't think the Dyson was going to pick up much that first time because we had just vacuumed a couple of hours prior. Boy were we surprised! It picked up so much that we took the old vacuum to the curb right then and there and we have never been happier about our home's cleanliness."
What's great about it: Very thorough cleaning job. What's not so great: Bulky
"The canister part of the vacuum is hard to get used to but once you see how well it cleans, it will sees to bother you. Another nice feature is the no bag, no mess, which means no cost and that's great. Works for me!"

"My son has been stricken with allergies for years and my physician recommended that I purchase a vacuum with a HEPA filter. I purchased another brand at the suggestion of a local vacuum store owner and although it was better than the cheaper models I had owned, I wasn't very happy with it. It was quiet and light, but didn't seem to clean very well. It doesn't matter if it filters if it doesn't suck everything up to begin with. I purchased the Dyson last year and am very happy with it. It has excellent cleaning power and works great on carpet. The wand tool is a little cumbersome to use and the vacuum is heavy, but other than those two cons the vacuum is wonderful- even if it is pricey. It is worth it if you want a clean home."

"The wife and I did what you are probably doing. We wanted a vacuum, went to the store, played with the floor models, were blown away by the Dyson but were sticker shocked away from it. So we walked away and started researching them online. We found the same things you've found. Yes, it costs way more than the other choices. Yes, everyone says that the some other brand is just as good. But, I have to say, the Dyson is worth the price. When you use it, you'll be amazed at what all it sucks out of your carpet...every time! We have a husky-shepherd mix dog who sheds on every rug, blanket, carpet and piece of furniture she looks at. The Dyson Animal has been a life saver. It's the only vac we've ever had that can get her fur out of anything. We use the pet attachment on our furniture. We can switch to the hose in an instant and take care of corners, baseboards, under cabinets. Nothing compares to it. Once you buy one, you'll want another (so you don't have to carry it upstairs or to the garage to do the car). So stop reading, buy one, Best Buy stands behind their products, so if you don't absolutely freak out about how good it does, take it back. I am sure that once you try one at home, you will become a Dyson evangelist as well."

"This is the best vacuum I have ever had. I have always used Rainbow vacuums but my neighbor let me borrow her dyson animal when a vital peice for my rainbow broke. I could see a huge contrast in the quality of dirt removal. So the next few days I went out and bought one for my own home. I also have an old shoulder injury and using the rainbow would strain my shoulder. The dyson is so much lighter and easier to manuver I can vacuum pain-free! It works great for dog hair. I have 2 little rat terriers who shed constantly and this vacuum picks all of it up! I recommend this to anyone who has carpet, pets, alergies and children."

"I have two dogs who seem to shed constantly and two cats. I also have serious problems with my hands and wrists. Vacuuming was a painful nightmare until I got the Dyson vacuum self-propelled for animals . I found it easy to manuever and I didn't even have to move my end tables because the vacuum head fits nicely between the legs. The vacuum hose is readily available with only a click, and in an instant, there is a long flexible hose with which to reach the corners of the floor, or to vacuum furniture. It picks up the tiniest of animal hair with very little effort on the floor or on the furniture. The utensil supplied for cleaning furniture did a great job. The vacuum head is designed so that its edge gets right up along the floor molding or wall and, although it is powerful, I can vacuum my dogs beds with it without snagging them or breaking a belt. It will automatically shut off the brushes if you start to snag something, thus stopping you from ruining a throw rug or anything else not meant to be vacuumed up. When empyting the vacuum, it is as easy as pushing a button. It is just as easy to take the vacuum apart, by either pressing a button or using a quarter to unscrew the two-three parts. Of all the vacuums on the market, this vacuum has what it takes to make cleaning a breeze!"

"3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 children and a 110 year old house is a challenge for any vacuum cleaner. I have owned 3 Hoovers, 2 Electrolux vacuums and a Bissell. There is no comparison. The Dyson product has not only earned my admiration- it is the most coveted item in my house by my housekeeper. She has told everyone she cleans for that they need a Dyson, too! My husband and my children don't even complain when they need to clean and that is a perk as well."

"I really didn't think I'd be very impressed, just satisfied. I expected a lot and thought for sure I'd be disappointed. I got the thing home and unboxed it and plugged it in and had to dump the canister 2 times! I vacuumed right before I left for the store to pick it up! My carpet is only 2 years old but my house is small so it's all high traffic. My carpet looks brand new after vacuuming with the Animal! I'm truly blown away!!! There is NO buyers remorse here! I love it and would buy it 10 times over!"

"When my first Dyson animal died after 5 years, I bit the bullet and purchased this monster. The attachments have no suction and don't work- the manual says nothing!! I mean nothing about how to make the attachments work. I'm constantly cleaning out the dog hair from the bottom of the vacumn- I know I have dogs and this can be an issue, but I can't even vacumn my bedroom completely w/o stopping, taking the bottom off, cleaning and starting all over again. Oh, and when you go to empty the tank, beware- the bottom falls off 90% of the time, leaving you with a mess to clean. I've regretted buying this machine so many times. and the sad part is, I loved my first one so much, several of my dog lover friends bought on my recommendation!"
What's great about it: great for pet lovers, bet vacuum ever What's not so great: attachments took time to get used to.

"The Dyson Animal vacuum truly does it all. In spite of the high price, I consider this a worthy investment. I can easily go from vacuuming carpets to cleaning the ceiling fans, then on to vacuuming the kitchen/bathroom tile floors without a lot of hassle. Quality construction is a plus; the Animal vac holds up well, even when accidentally bumping or catching the corners of furniture!) and there are plenty of attachments to fit every cleaning need. The Animal vac lives up to its truth in advertising - suction remains powerful and consistent, picking up even the finest pet hairs. The canister and filter are very easy to maintain, and the filter shows no signs of deterioration, even after numerous cleanings and a year of use. I'm very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this vacuum."
