Best vacuum ever

What's great about it: Very easy to use, Not horribly loud, cleans carpet compleatly
What's not so great: The accesories don't work very well.
"This is the best vacuum I have ever had. I have always used Rainbow vacuums but my neighbor let me borrow her dyson animal when a vital peice for my rainbow broke. I could see a huge contrast in the quality of dirt removal. So the next few days I went out and bought one for my own home. I also have an old shoulder injury and using the rainbow would strain my shoulder. The dyson is so much lighter and easier to manuver I can vacuum pain-free! It works great for dog hair. I have 2 little rat terriers who shed constantly and this vacuum picks all of it up! I recommend this to anyone who has carpet, pets, alergies and children."

What's great about it: Cleans animal hair easily, very easy to use and take apart to clean or if (oh heavens!) something gets stuck by accident
What's not so great: I can find no negatives
"I have two dogs who seem to shed constantly and two cats. I also have serious problems with my hands and wrists. Vacuuming was a painful nightmare until I got the Dyson vacuum self-propelled for animals . I found it easy to manuever and I didn't even have to move my end tables because the vacuum head fits nicely between the legs. The vacuum hose is readily available with only a click, and in an instant, there is a long flexible hose with which to reach the corners of the floor, or to vacuum furniture. It picks up the tiniest of animal hair with very little effort on the floor or on the furniture. The utensil supplied for cleaning furniture did a great job. The vacuum head is designed so that its edge gets right up along the floor molding or wall and, although it is powerful, I can vacuum my dogs beds with it without snagging them or breaking a belt. It will automatically shut off the brushes if you start to snag something, thus stopping you from ruining a throw rug or anything else not meant to be vacuumed up. When empyting the vacuum, it is as easy as pushing a button. It is just as easy to take the vacuum apart, by either pressing a button or using a quarter to unscrew the two-three parts. Of all the vacuums on the market, this vacuum has what it takes to make cleaning a breeze!"

What's great about it: cleans well
What's not so great: the flex hose isn't long enough
"3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 children and a 110 year old house is a challenge for any vacuum cleaner. I have owned 3 Hoovers, 2 Electrolux vacuums and a Bissell. There is no comparison. The Dyson product has not only earned my admiration- it is the most coveted item in my house by my housekeeper. She has told everyone she cleans for that they need a Dyson, too! My husband and my children don't even complain when they need to clean and that is a perk as well."

What's great about it: It really works!
What's not so great: It's a little big.
"I really didn't think I'd be very impressed, just satisfied. I expected a lot and thought for sure I'd be disappointed.
I got the thing home and unboxed it and plugged it in and had to dump the canister 2 times! I vacuumed right before I left for the store to pick it up!
My carpet is only 2 years old but my house is small so it's all high traffic. My carpet looks brand new after vacuuming with the Animal! I'm truly blown away!!!
There is NO buyers remorse here!
I love it and would buy it 10 times over!"

What's great about it: great pick up
What's not so great: attachments are difficult to use
"When my first Dyson animal died after 5 years, I bit the bullet and purchased this monster. The attachments have no suction and don't work- the manual says nothing!! I mean nothing about how to make the attachments work. I'm constantly cleaning out the dog hair from the bottom of the vacumn- I know I have dogs and this can be an issue, but I can't even vacumn my bedroom completely w/o stopping, taking the bottom off, cleaning and starting all over again.
Oh, and when you go to empty the tank, beware- the bottom falls off 90% of the time, leaving you with a mess to clean.
I've regretted buying this machine so many times. and the sad part is, I loved my first one so much, several of my dog lover friends bought on my recommendation!"

"I've had this vacuum for almost a year and it still works great. I have a few cats and this thing sucks up all their fur and leaves nothing behind. The attachments took some time to get used to, but it's hard to dislike them since they work so well. I recommend this vacuum to anyone who has pets and/or allergies."

"The Dyson Animal vacuum truly does it all. In spite of the high price, I consider this a worthy investment. I can easily go from vacuuming carpets to cleaning the ceiling fans, then on to vacuuming the kitchen/bathroom tile floors without a lot of hassle. Quality construction is a plus; the Animal vac holds up well, even when accidentally bumping or catching the corners of furniture!) and there are plenty of attachments to fit every cleaning need. The Animal vac lives up to its truth in advertising - suction remains powerful and consistent, picking up even the finest pet hairs. The canister and filter are very easy to maintain, and the filter shows no signs of deterioration, even after numerous cleanings and a year of use. I'm very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this vacuum."

"This is the best vacuum we have owned. We have a dog and cat which was the main reason for the purchase. The vacuum picks up everything and makes the carpet look new again. The suction is great and the extension handle and the attachments that come with it are very useful. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a quality vacuum. The price is a little high but is well worth it!!"

"My wife cleans houses for a living, and when our old Hoover went she said it's time to get a decent vacuum. She has used this Dyson at a client's house, and since we have beagle, there tends to be pet hair everywhere. I was impressed with the constant level of suction ,and how well constructed the Dyson really is. We have both carpet and hardwood floors, and this does a great job on both. There are other vacuums out there that try to duplicate this one on the cheap, but they don't come close to the quality of the Dyson."

What's not so great: makes you realize how dirty your floor is. it's frightening!
"Best investment I have ever made. I have new carpets and it tore up my first vaccume cleaner in a matter of months. I can wash out the filter every couple months and never spend a penny on maintenance. I have 3 large short hair dogs that shed everywhere and the dc17 is the only one that can handle so much abuse. With all the attatchments it doesn't matter where or what I have to vacume and the zorb it comes with smells great! Having 2 floors with hard and carpet is no big deal. Hope this helps."

What's great about it: Amazing suction, easy to manuever, easy assembly, relatively lightweight yet sturdy, no bags!
What's not so great: Extra tools - turbine, etc. are difficult to figure out where they attach and there are no instructions
"I DID NOT BELIEVE MY EYES when I used this for the first time. I had a Kenmore vacuum that I used to clean the floor, so I assumed I would not pick up much - BOY WAS I WRONG! This vacuum cleaner picked up not just dog hair (I have three) but it also picked up dirt and allergens I never thought about (I have twins always on the floor). I feel like the floor is much cleaner. I cannot believe I had a dirty floor before. It also does not spit stuff out of the back like some of the uprights I have used in the past. I emtptied it a lot the first time but didn't mind because it was a feeling of satisfaction to throw away all that crud from my floors.
I am now addicted to vacuuming - I have used it so much in the past few days - and all the while picking up more stuff - I LOVE THIS THING!!! GO GET ONE!!!"

"I would be the first to say that I never even considered spending $500 for a vacuum, but I'm glad I did. I vacuumed with the old Hoover WindTunnel I had, then with the Dyson....incredible. There really is no comparison. The Hoover left behind so much dirt and cat hair it was amazing. Do yourself a favor and buy one, you will not regret it."

"The adage "You get what you pay for." was likely created for this vacuum. I had not been much for vacuuming the house prior to purchasing this. Now, after six months of use, I am the first to grab it. The ball makes all the difference in the world when comparing to other vacuums.
Do yourself a favor, quit comparing and go get this machine. You will be very happy that you did."

"The price is high for this unit, but this is the best vacuum that you will ever own. I dare you to take the Dyson challenge and not fall in love with this vacuum. First, you need to have a working vacuum. Vacuum your room with your old vacuum. Next, vacuum the same room with the Dyson. You will notice that the Dyson grabs more off your floor. "I have been anti-dyson for a long time due to the price. When our 3 year old Eureka Altima broke we started researching again and found the Dyson to have pretty consistently good feedback. We have 2 children and 2 dogs(one who sheds enough for 3 dogs). After much deliberation we decided to go for it and see if this was really as good as we heard.
We Love It!!!
Just like the comercial, this vacuum picked up fine particles that the other one missed. We filled the dirt cup and the unit never lost suction(a problem with our previous vacuum). The cup empties from the bottom which keeps you clean when dumping the dirt.
The long cord means no changing outlets which makes the job much more convenient. I can leave the unit at the bottom of the stairs and the hose reaches all the way up with hose to spare.
I didn't think it would happen, but I am a very satisfied Dyson customer!"

What's great about it: Very strong suction. Cleans very well.
What's not so great: You have to be pretty strong to push it. I have arthritis, making it just too hard for me to push.
"I really liked the way it cleaned. I was really disappointed to have to return it. It got most of my carpet fibers back up in front of our sofa, which I hadn't been able to get back up for years. I didn't have any trouble using the vacuum in the store or at home on berber carpet. I had 30 days to try it out. I'm going to take it back and get a lighter weight vacuum. If you are strong with no problems, I highly recommend it. I thought it was going to suck my carpet right into the vacuum."
