A Great Gift For A Nintendo Fan
11/16/2008
By MrReviewerGuyfrom Brooklyn, NYC
What's great about it: Easy To Use, Worth The Money, Can Be Used To Get Many Different Things What's not so great: Kind Of Pricy
"If you have a friend, a child, a sibling, anyone at all who has a wii, I would reccomend you get this for him/her. For about $20 you can get this person 2,000 Wii Points! ($1 = 100 Wii Points) With these Wii Points, the person can buy anything from the Wii Store, granted he/she has Wi-Fi. You can use the WIi Points to buy many different things, such as WiiWare, games designed specificly for the Wii, and can only be bought using Wii Points. You can also get Virtual Colsole games, which are old school games such as Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, and many other Nintendo classics. Then, there are the channels. The channels are the little boxes that you see in the start-up menu. A channel is sort of like a little mini-game, like the Mii channel is a little mini-game where you create a character that looks like you. One of my favorites are the Internet channel, where you can go online directly from your Wii. Again, you will need Wi-Fi for this. Wii Points can also be used in several video games to purchase various items and features, such as in Guitar Hero World Tour, where you can purchase new songs to play from the GHTunes online store. A virtual console game, a channel, or a Wiiware game each cost from about 500 points to about 1500 points. This is just an estimate, though. Some items may cost more or less than this. Basically, if you know someone who is a big Nintendo fan, and he/she has a Wii, getting this is a definate must. It is a great stocking stuffer that anyone would enjoy! Take it from me, I have gotten 3 already =)"

good stocking stuffer

What's great about it: easy to use
"You can buy these via your Wii console, so a separate card isn't necessarily needed. But it makes a great stocking stuffer for someone who has a Wii. We have used the points to buy old school games, like Tetris, and Dr. Mario so far. We love it for the nostalgia factor."

The Key to Your Gaming Past!
10/27/2008
By BachManfrom New Brunswick, NJ
What's great about it: Affordable value for reacquiring your old-school games. What's not so great: Can only be used on a single Wii console.
"At basically $1/100 points, you can't go wrong with the 2000 Wii Points card. Depending on which games you are looking to buy on the virtual console, this card can be good for 2, maybe even 3 games! It's the key to getting back to your gaming roots! The only drawback to this card is that you can only use it on one Wii console. But it's still an awesome value!"

Wii points card

By Stephy
What's great about it: Easy to use, decent price, safer than using credit What's not so great: none so far
"Use these to buy classic games. It is fun to play all the old games. It's a decent price $20 for 2000 points. Most of the games are 800 but can go as high as 1500. You can play old NES, Sega, and N64. Really good if you want to play old games."

Soooooo Cool!
10/20/2008
By Jennyisamama
What's great about it: Can play all of those old games again! What's not so great: Leftovers have stayed leftover
"Wii Points are absolutely awesome! Games are relatively cheap...500 to 1500 points depending. But it's approximately $1/100 points, so not bad. All of those games are back and always on your wii for your convenience! Downfall is that some of my points left over are not enough for another game and then when I add new ones, I have the same amount left over. Oh well."

Great Reward for Grades -incentive
10/06/2008
By FresnoMomfrom California
What's great about it: Kids can shop for wii products on their own What's not so great: Make sure they research buys thoroughly
"I use this for a reward for my teens - for grades, chores, attendance etc. They love the wii- but like most teens bore easily so they look forward to a new card. At least they are all here playing with friends rather than getting into trouble!"

By Wiserunnerfrom Pittsburgh, PA
What's great about it: Easy to find/order, easy to use What's not so great: Requires some research
"It is a simple product that completes a simple task. However when it comes to spending the points be sure to have what you want to buy with those points in mind and do some research on what you are buying. I with my first card just bought stuff that I thought looked good and was then disapointed to find out that I required more wii points to play the full version of the game I purchased."

Easy way to purchase old games on-line...

By BigPeppyfrom Nova, OH
What's great about it: - easy to find at the store, codes are easy to use, very convenient What's not so great: - not completely safe, can be lost easily
"a much better way to purchase old games on the Wii than a credit card. One day you will probably be able to use paypal or something else more securely. All in all an easy way to buy more games."

Good gift
07/24/2008
By turkishgoldfrom Washington, DC
What's great about it: Makes a nice gift for someone What's not so great: Unnecessary otherwise
"Since it's so easy and convenient to buy points on the Wii itself if you're connected to the internet, the only really use I've had for this is as a gift. But it's a nice stocking stuffer or accompaniment for a Wii game or accessory. The old games are fun to download and play again (or play for the first time -- they're much cheaper now than they used to be!)"

What's great about it: Allows you to buy older games
"When you buy you wii pick up one of these first off so you can download the opera browser. I like to use these so I do not have to use my credit or debit card online. I like the wii's online store and this is the perfect amount of points to buy a few older games when you get one. These make great gifts or just casual buys."

Points Reload
06/24/2008
By Reddarian
What's great about it: You can pay cash so you don't need to use a credit card online. What's not so great: Only one value available, though it's a pretty good deal.
"This is really great to give as a gift or maybe you're just picking one up for yourself because you don't want to use your card number online. Whatever the reason, it takes very little time to enter the points on to your Wii and you have access to tons of content from all the older systems, and, just recently, Nintendo added a whole line of brand new content created for the Wii called WiiWare. WiiWare ranges from brand new titles such as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, to remakes of classics such as Dr. Mario Online Rx. Whatever your likes, you'll find something you want on the Wii Shop Channel, and the only way to pay is with Wii Points.
It would be nice if there were different values, though. A 1000, and a 5000 point card would be a great addition... maybe even a 10000 point card for those that like to buy big."

The best gift card ever
06/04/2008
By gokuss4from Myrtle Beach, South Caraliona
"When I first got my Wii I only had enough for the Wii and one of these cards. When I hooked up my Wii to the internet though and went on the Shop Channel I was blown away. Right in front of me were tons of games I used to enjoyed, available for download on my Wii. I downloaded Super Mario Bros. 2 and it worked perfectly. Plus I could play the game with the Wiimote, Classic Controller, or a GameCube Controller (I liked this one best). Giving one of these cards is the perfect present for any occasion for anyone because it lets them choose what THEY want. NOTE: Below are the average prices for the games though they may flucate by 100 points or so NES = 500 Wii points SNES = 800 Wii points N64 = 1000 Wii points SEGA Genesis = 800 Wii points TurboGrafx 16 = 600 Wii points"

What's great about it: Gets you access to an ever-expanding library of old favorites! What's not so great: Only comes in one amount
"This card is your pass to the Wii Shop Channel. From here you can redeem your points for old classics from passed systems like NES, SEGA GENESIS, and TurdoGrafx. Though I would really like to see a 1000 or maybe a 5000 point card..."

"I wanted to play mario-lugi game so got a card for 20$. Immediatly downloaded games. Easy to use also gifted points to my brother and friend to download games. 500 points is 5$. So, a game for 5$ is not bad at all. Goodluck!"

What's great about it: Costs less than repurchasing the games you still love What's not so great: You can't blow in the cartridges anymore
"You say you're a Nintendo fan and haven't downloaded Super Mario Brothers or Punch Out? There are a few others that are will worth it as well but the NES games for $5 are are real value. The internet channel (500 points) is highly reccomended as well."

Retro Gaming Goodness!!

What's great about it: Makes A Great Gift! What's not so great: Hope Your WiFi Is Workin...
"Yes, you can buy these directly from Nintendo with your credit card, but I actually enjoy getting these as a gift as well! With 2000 points, you can choose 2 or 3 games from back in the day, and still have some points left over (which is how they bait you into buying another one lol)! Many available already, and more and more appearing all the time! Simple to use- just scratch off the PIN on the back and load it right up! Another great way to waste time on the Wii!"
