What's great about it: great story mode, very fun strategy What's not so great: somewhat repetitive, weak Live play
"Rainbow Six Vegas, at it's core, is a squad-based tactical shooter. In the story mode you play on a team of 2 others and you command them through diverse environments to eliminate your enemy in the most efficient way possible. The game emphasises many very fun tactics like tactical room clearing, special equipment, stealth, and ambushing. Although it gets a little repetitive it's very fun to clear buildings full of enemies room by room, thinking of a new strategy for each room. The game demands that you use you're head to plan each entry, by using several entry ways, special grenades (flashbangs, smokes), and entering at the perfect time to overwhelm your enemy. It's very satisfying to plan and set up an entry for 2 minutes and then clearing the room of 15 enemies in less than 5 seconds, before they even knew what hit 'em. However, the Live play isnt that good. Combat is kind of slow and levels arent very well designed. It's also a huge dissapointment that you can snipe with a shotgun simply by putting a scope on it. To sum it up, very fun campaign, not so much Live. Oh, I almost forgot, unlike most other shooters, Vegas has a very interesting story-line."

Impressive tactical shooter10/24/2007
By Hyprsleepyfrom St. Louis, MO
What's great about it: Squad control in single player, realistic weapon set, challenging gameplay What's not so great: Grenade abuse in multiplayer, people only play the Casino on multiplayer
"*Single player* I love all the different ways that you can control your team in the single play campaign. You can tell them to stack up on a door and then flash and clear. Or maybe you want them to use a frag grenade, maybe smoke. You can even use your snake cam to look under the door and past it and target enemies. You can tell your team to hit a particular bad guy 1st or 2nd and plan your attack. The strategy is very deep and it is VERY satisfying to beat this game on the Realistic setting. It is hard enough to be challenging without being impossible. As an additional bonus - shooting the pistol on my home theater surround sound is AWESOME. My setup is in my basement and you can feel the floor shake on the 1st floor when I fire. I love the sound on this game. *Multiplayer* The multiplayer is fun but it didn't hold my interest for whatever reason, despite the fact that I was reasonably good at it. I would still recommend it to my friends who find R6V's playstyle right up their alley."

A truly great game10/19/2007
By Gable087from NJ
What's great about it: Great graphics, campaign, and multiplayer What's not so great: None
"This game is a must buy for fans of FPS's who own an Xbox 360. With a tight control scheme, engrossing campaign, and addictive multiplayer it is sure to be an instant classic. Never have I had more fun playing a game together with someone than playing terrorist hunt on realistic with a friend. The enemy AI is smart and vicious, some of the best I've seen in any game. At times they'll charge you when you least expect it and others they'll take cover and let others flank you while drawing your fire. The graphics are solid and the in game audio when played on surround sound is absolutley amazing. Easily one of the best first person tactical shooters out there, so check it out, you won't be disappointed."

Is is what a great shooter game is about.10/19/2007
By Celestin
What's great about it: Realistic gameplay, command system What's not so great: Not enough missions and objectives
"Its not hard to find out why Rainbox Six:Vegas is the best first person shooter game. The entire AI of the game is really responsive and much lifelike. When being shot at, you can feel the affects and the health system reacts very much like in GEARS OF WAR. This game is a must for every 360 owner"

For serious, tactically minded shoorters only!10/15/2007
By JeffHfrom Las Cruces, NM
What's great about it: PERFECT balance of tactical and shooting mix, great graphics, great controller setup/use, smart AI, and gameplay a 10 What's not so great: Voice command slow; They could have/should have made it possible to control team through team members hud like GRAW2
"This game fits nicely, and easily into one of the few 5 star slots in my library. It's what we have come to expect from a Tom Clancy game and Ubi Soft. Absolutely a must have for all shooter gamers and really has no rival (though GRAW2 does hold it's own). Game-play has an excellent blend of technical approach and combat/shooting. Not too much of either and just enough of both. Team is easy to command and control (but they should have included the ability to look through team members hud in order to pick out location to send them when your on the other side of the room- they did include that feature in GRAW2 so I don't know why they would leave it out in a more tactically based shooter. ) Otherwise, and even in spite of this, the game is nearly perfect. Graphics are great. I've never been to Vegas but my daughter tells me the game "looks just like Vegas". The controls are so simple and smooth that ordering and carrying out tactical actions including repelling, fast ropes, room entries, ect. are not tasks that take you out of the game while you consider and implement; instead, they absorb you in the game easily. You can use your Live headset and give voice commands to control your team but I found the time lapse between my voice and Team Commander's to be too lagging for the confidence you will need to think and act quickly during fire-fights. Again, not a problem, the controller works flawlessly. Another reviewer (on this site or another) had commented that this is a man's game. I agree but I'm sure there are some women out there that might claim it too. The price on this game is another big plus. If you don't have the $30.00 plus tax to throw down on it I would advise trading in Halo 3 for a discount. Your time with your XBOX will be much more challenging and much more fun."

Best Online Gameplay09/25/2007
By Phildogfrom Hawaii
"So I got this game when it first came out and was so busy playing other games that I almost forgot about it. When I finally picked it up I could not put it down. The campaign mode is excellent with good graphics, storyline, and decently challenging objectives. The best part about this game is the online gameplay. There are a lot of different ways to play online from online terrorist hunt, online co-op play, and just for fun player matches. My personal fave is the ranked team sharpshooter matches. Challenging ranks to overcome, I actually got a huge satisfaction of earning the rank "elite" legitimately. This is a great game."

Not good if you have to work in the Morning!!!09/24/2007
By Volearixfrom Indianapolis, IN
""Rainbow Six: Las Vegas" is one of the first games in a long time that I have actually sat down long enough to play. I enjoyed playing the campaign mode and all, but the real magic of this game, would be the Terrorist Hunt mode and the online play. Terrorist Hunt mode is a unique campaign that allows you to go through previously explored areas and take on a huge number of enemy terrorist. This mode is always fun, whether you play alone, or with a friend. The enemies are actually fairly intelligent, too. Though their AI eventually get predictable, they are more than fun to play against. I will also say that if you have XBox Live, you will never get sick of this game! It seems like there is no end to the amount of rank you can earn. Tons of fun! This game keeps me up all night!!!"

Great game09/22/2007
By RunzFunnyfrom Florida
"This is a great game. It has awesome graphics, great story line, awesome control, and it has great tactical game play. It is a must have. It only has one huge drawback. XBOX Live. There are too many ways to cheat online to count. If you want good , honest, online play, play with your friends only. Besides that, get the game, it is awesome."

Great game!!09/20/2007
By Whysefrom Tucson, AZ
"Rainbow Six Vegas really has the trifecta of this style of games in place. First you have the campaign which starts you out in bland dry Mexico (starts out very boring if you've played GRAW or GRAW2) and brings you all the way into Las Vegas. You fight within Casinos and on the streets. You also control a small squad which has very good A.I. and easy controls. As you fight your way through the terrorists you will notice the awesome graphics (and if you play enough, the ever changing posters and advertisements throughout the levels).
Secondly, you can play or co-op either on the same TV or over x-box live. For Co-op you can play through the same campaign which is definitely very fun to do with a friend. There is also a mode called T-Hunt, or Terrorist Hunt which you have a set amount of time to kill all the terrorists in the levels. I recommend online co-op for this one and not split screen because it is a lot easier to kill 25 terrorists with 4-8 people then with only 2 (in this mode you can only die once, no respawn).
Thirdly, there are online matches. A lot of different modes from the normal free for all death match to the more tactical and skilled saving hostages. Also, holding the briefcase for the longest time and more. You rise through the ranks as you go and get the ability to upgrade and customize your own character as you play through the online mode. You can even take a picture of yourself with the camera for the Xbox 360 and make that the face on your person.
During all game play types the game is mostly First person, but you can cover behind walls and either "blind fire", or come out and aim and shoot. This mode is in 3rd person mode. Either way it blends together in a very easy to learn and easy to control way.
Achievements are great in this one, a huge variety for all different modes; you will find a few easy medium and hard ones to get. (For an easy one buy or borrow the camera, you get 30 points for taking a picture of yourself with it)
All in all I would say this is a must have if you like first person shooters or tactical infiltration games. It's got the best of both worlds combined. I strongly recommend this game."

"This game has some awsome graphics and really shows off the power of the 360. There's also lots of cool new wepons to try. I did think that the single player campaign was on the short side. It should've been a bit longer, cause it was so much fun to play!"

Fun game09/19/2007
By patches
"I like the fusion between first person and third person view. This is the next evolution in shooter games. Taking cover and shooting from behind cover adds a new dimension to an already bland and saturated field of first person shooter games. A.I in the game is good for most of the time. Your teamates will occasionally shoot out in the open without trying to find cover during intense fire fights, which is annoying. But for the most part they do what you tell them to do and avoid going down a majority of the time."
