What's great about it: Crisp and well rounded on HDTVs
What's not so great: Bit too sharp on some older Wii titles
"Recommended more for HDTVs, these component cables enhance your Wii experience on all fronts. Only downside is that some games can produce a picture too sharp with these cables equipped. But that slight downside set aside, this is a must-buy who wants to get the most out of their Wii!!!"

"I'm sure these are great and they felt like they were high quality but the one that I bought only came in black and white. I returned them planning on buying another set but instead an employed showed me the Rocketfish cables so I thought I'd try them and they are great!"

"I first bought the cyclones for $60 and did not see a very good improvement over the composite cables, took them back and got the Nintendo component cables half the price too.. and these are way better, graphics are pretty cool on my 50" 720P plasma, a real noticeible difference in the wii golf and bowling. House of the dead is way cool as well..."

"I recently bought a 50 inch plasma panasonic 1080p hdtv and have my wii hooked up to it. After reading the reviews for these cables, I decided to give them a try. I hooked them up, changed the settings in the wii menu to the 480p setting and changed the screen to the widescreen option then restarted the system to make sure the settings were in effect. The color improvement was so slim that I had to try to convince myself that there was actually an improvement. Also, the edges of certain images (bowling pins, mii characters, etc) actually seemed to get worse with these cables. These are getting returned to bestbuy and maybe I'll try the react cables."

What's great about it: better graphics
What's not so great: should have come with the game to begin with
"Adding the component video cables really improved the graphics of my Wii. The graphics on the endless ocean game are just so much better. I have an HD TV. The old cables really didn't do it justice. I do resent however that you think you got a game for $250 and you have to keep buying more stuff. The game should have come with these cables and two controllers to begin with."

"A little pricey but this is a must have item. If you're using the cables that came with the system you're not getting your money's worth yet from the console. I don't understand all the tech stuff behnd this but I have the component cables for all my gaming consoles and Nintendo's work just as well as the other proprietary brands' cables. decent price for the one-time-buy."

What's great about it: Great upgrade in 480p picture
What's not so great: Cables are limited when seperating for surround sound
"So when I first got my Wii I went through all my settings to properly set-up the best possible pictures I could gain for out of the box play. Immediately I noticed that my Wii hand would jitter around a bit when playing on a 65" screen, and to eliminate it I thought maybe I would update a few things. I bought these cords knowing at least I'll gain a better picture and it did more than that. After hooking up the cords not only did the picture upgrade so did the accuracy. No longer did I have the jittery hand! These cords really do justice to your Wii and is a must have. As for the cords hooking up to surround sound, people have two options, they could get extensions for the audio cords, or hook it up to your TV and then run your TV sound out to the sound device. There you go, problem solved!"

"I've had my Wii for a few months now and I knew I was missing something. The graphic quality on the standard AV cable doesn't look good as well as i thought it would be...So after getting these and hooking them up...There is a difference! What's great about it: Progressive Scan GREATLY improves picture quality!
What's not so great: May need extensions for seperate sound systems...
"Simply put, if you have an ED or HDTV, you MUST get these cables! The Wii runs progressive scan for most of its games, and many of the old GameCube games have PG support as well (a little-known fact as Nintendo removed the output from later 'Cubes). I will agree that the short separation of audio and video can get in the way (and will dock it a star as such). I have mine streeeetched to fit and I have a system with the audio and video inputs almost right next to each other. Other than that, ED games running 16x9 with sweet, sweet DolbyProLogicII is DEFINATELY the best way to experience the Wii at its finest!"

"You need to have these to get the most out of your Nintendo Wii. Picture is more clear and the sound is noticable if you have a hi-fi system. "As another reviewer had posted, you can't separate the audio cables from the 3 video cables, and each cable is only about 6-8" long before they are unified. This means that you can't run the video to the tv and the audio to a receiver (unless the plus are RIGHT next to each other). Kind of annoying especially since flat panel tvs don't exactly have great speakers. Its really too bad, because a simple detail like that makes this an okay product, not a great one."

"I got this cable to get a better picture for my Wii. I had to take the cable back because you can't separate the sound (to plug into my receiver) and picture cables (to plug into my TV). Don't they think about people wanting to use Surround sound?"

"I was hesitant to buy the component cable since I did have component video connections on my SDTV (yes believe it or not SDTVs can have them too) but since it is standard...I can't use the full 480p. But i did anyway since the regular composite cables made the picture look sliced up (many lines were visible across the screen). When I plugged in this cable though, I had to reconnect the original one to make sure I wasn't seeing things! All those horrible lines were gone and thats with it set to 480i (again I only have Standard). I was instantly sold. Leave it to Nintendo to make an affordable and excellent product as always.
So I repeat, the idea that these cables are only for 480p is incorrect. As another reviewer mentioned, if you have component connections on your TV, then do yourself a favor and get this cable. It makes everything look better. Now if only I had a HDTV......"

Great for any component-capable TV

What's great about it: 480P for EDTVs and HDTVs, better signal for SDTVs

"This cable isn't just for HDTVs - the Wii's maximum resolution is 480p, which is technically EDTV.
However, even if your TV doesn't support 480p, if it has component video inputs (often used for DVD players), you will still get better picture quality, especially if you are using the standard Composite (single yellow) video connection.
The difference between Component video and S-Video connection isn't as great, but the Wii only comes with the Composite cable anyway, so if you're going to buy a new cable for it, why not get the better one?
Now back to 480p, if you have a 480p-capable TV, you will definitely get a sharper image, and if you have an HDTV, you will likely get less motion artifacts as well since your TV won't have to deinterlace the Wii's output signal. The deinterlacing process often causes odd effects like "fuzzy" edges on the edges of objects moving horizontally, so not having to deinterlace is a good thing.
Long story short, if your TV has component input, get this cable!"
