this is an awesome camcorder. I never had one before and only used my digital camera to record short videos, so it's a very big upgrade for me. There's a big difference in picture quality. It's much better and clearer.

This camcorder is cheap and probably the best one Best Buy has to offer. It gives you amazing quality videos. Records in high quality, normal quality, and low quality. Normal quality offers amazing videos. Amazing product.

What's great about it: Zoooooooom, touch screen.
What's not so great: None
Can not match such a clear picture with any other DVD based camcorder. Very satisfactory.

What's great about it: Easy to use, functional. lightweight, known brand,works as a digital camera
What's not so great: Battery life
This is a good buy for some who wants something simple and easy to use iwth just the basics. It is a bit pricey for the limited amount of features offered from the 108 to the 308
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: It's easy to use
What's not so great: The still picture quality
This is my first camcorder, and the main reason to purchase this was to be able to take home video of the important events in our kids lives. I have to say it is easy to use, except the connection ports should have been put in the same area instead of of a few different places.
I like that it has 2 types of tv modes, widescreen or regular. It has a few different lighting modes, ie.. sepia, black and white, pastel, (which I wouldn't recommend shooting in pastel). Pretty basic use.
We went on a really bumpy hayride and I thought we would get dizzy watching the video later, but it was really smooth.
Overall- I'm very impressed with this unit. I would definitely recommend this to others.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Good for night filming with steady shot & nightshot plus.
What's not so great: Still appears grainy whilst filming, even with single picture shot.
This product cost me an extra $100 after exchanging it from the handycam DCR108, in my opinion there both the same.
Regardless of this DCR308 having a 1.0 mega pixel cam and 5.1 surround and remote.. it still looks grainy doing single shot pictures.
Filming appears grainy also where as the DC108 didn't, the DCR108 was just grainy in single shot mode and had good quality video.
If your going to upgrade from the DC108 to the DCR308.. save your pennies.
Overall the DCR308 has it's advantages with supernight shot plus which is good and easy to use menu, with bundled software.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The DVD disk is more convienent to use than the tape format. Choosing scenes and playing specific videos is easy.
Pictures are sharp and zoom feature is great. When using zoom a tripod is best because of the sensitivity to the motion of the hand causes the video to" jump" easily. When using the video camera in a windy environment, keep microphone away from wind or turn the microphone pick-up to low, as the sound of the wind overcomes other voices.
Video camera also functions as a still camera. One has to buy a memory stick (additional cost) but the pictures are sharp and have great color.
Playback using TV jack is also easy.
Overall I am very satified with the camera capabilities.
