What's great about it: 10 times better than controller, bluetooth
What's not so great: does not illuminate
"This a great remote. I struggled with my PS3 controller for a few months before I broke down and bought this remote... it has made movie watching that much more enjoyable on my PS3 Blu-Ray player, which I did not think was possible. The bluetooth tech makes it usable from anywhere (doesn't have to be IR direct). The only negative is it is all black and hard to use in the dark, unless you know the buttons fairly well. It would be nice if it illuminated."

What's great about it: Easy lay out, simple to use, easier then using the controller.
What's not so great: takes a bit to get used to.
"I bought this at the same time my wife bought the PS3 for me. It works well, shuts itself off after a few minutes, but easily syncs back up to the PS3 when a button is pressed.
The only bad thing is that there is not a port on the PS3 to be able to use a IR universal remote."

What's great about it: makes ps3 feel like a dvd/bluray player
What's not so great: not even sure what half the buttons do, no back light
"when it comes down to it, if you are going to use your ps3 as a video player...this is your only option...and i do mean that. Because, and this is more the ps3's fault, being all bluetooth there is no other option if you want a remote (except of course your controller)
but this is better than the controller. having buttons dedicated to things like the menu or pop up menu, language, subtitles...things that are normally on a remote is nice to have.
its by no means a must have, its a luxury item. but the batteries last forever and really you feel more comfortable with it...i know it sounds crazy...but its true."

What's great about it: Easy pairing
"It is easier to use this when watching movies on PS3 than the game controller. I am vey pleased that Sony made pairing this remote to the PS3 very easy. So far I have not encountered any problems with how the buttons are laid out. One thing that I have noticed is the remote is heavier than some remotes out there. This is a must have for movie lovers who bought PS3 for the blue-ray player."

What's not so great: doesnt slide open to use as a keyboard for internet
"This is great for watching movies and is a must have and the wife loves it! the BT is great can be anywhere! I read the note about the pause button than I looked at it on the remote and thought it was true, it is a weird place it would have been better to put it with the play button. I would also have liked the remote to slide open horzontally to display a qwetry keyboard to use with the web on the PS3 that would be awesome and worth the money. Also one more complaint is the size of the remote the BT chip is very small so why couldnt they make it thinner and smaller instead as big as the ps3? also why doesn't it have a rechargeable LI battery that we can plug into the usb to charge? save me with the old school techno batterries and hasle! Hello sony I think you should hire me?"

Overall quality with fatal flaw

What's great about it: Complete PS3 controls, works great with any disk or media, Bluetooth means no aiming needed
What's not so great: Pause button placed in unintuitive spot
"Overall a quality remote. Its use of Bluetooth means no hassles with aiming right at an infrared receptor on the target machine, no worries about a glass door or obstacle bouncing or mufflng the signal. You can even walk into another room as a music disk or digital file is playing, for example, and move tracks, fast forward/rewind, play, pause, etc.
BUT ... the position of the Pause button on this drives me nuts.
The vast majority of remote controls have one of two places they put the Pause button.
The most common and user-friendly is to have it be the SAME button as the Play button. That's when you see the usual side-triangle icon AND the little quote " icon on the same button. As a movie or whatever is playing, hit Pause, then the same button again to resume Play.
Less popular is to have pause RIGHT BESIDE play, so you can move back and forth from one to the other with relative ease.
Key in both layouts is to place the stop button FAR AWAY from play, so you don't hit it by mistake.
Not with this remote. Going from top to bottom, it has Play, STOP, and Pause. Despite my efforts to change, I find myself, when I want to pause, and am wrapped up in a movie or the like, obeying decades of "muscle memory" and sliding my thumb down from Play (which has the little bump) and hitting the next button, Stop and quitting the entire thing.
And the PS3 does NOT go back to where you were watching when you hit play again after hitting Stop on a DVD or Blu-ray. The whole thing starts all over again from the beginning, complete with sitting through the warning logos and force-fed ads and trailers, completely spoiling the moment.
Infuriating.
Consider the cheaper Nyko PS3 remote instead. Its Pause button is the same as its Play button."

What's great about it: Blue tooth, no dongle, great layout, works perfectly.
What's not so great: Can't program you other remotes into this one because of blue tooth.
"This remote has all the features, and it doesn't require an extra dongle to be put in the usb port of your PS3. You can access all the same buttons on your ps3 controller through this. This is a must own if you plan to watch dvd's or blurays on your PS3. You won't believe that you lived so long without it once you have it."

What's great about it: good for ps3 and blu-ray
"Have no problems with it at all. Works very well with the ps3 and for the blu-ray functions. It has the ps buttons which is nice for controlling the ps3. It has bluetooth so there is no other parts needed to connect the remote. It is a little big and bulky with a lot of extra buttons that I have not figured out what their functions are. I have not use any of the other remotes but this one is made by Sony so you know that you will not have any problems getting it to work with the ps3."

"This remote is a fantastic alternative for the PS3 controller. This remote is so simple to use. The buttons are huge and memorizing the locations are simple so that it can be used in the dark. Its not a complex remote either, meaning it's not packed full of extra "features" that some newer remotes have. It has the keypad for selecting tracks when playing CD's, and the basic video commands which are pretty hard to miss as they're about a half an inch big! It seems bulky though, but then again, this just makes it harder to lose-another plus!"
